ElvenShadow Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 My ticket is for 5pm. What about you? Also yeah. Xrd is as good as any other Guilty Gear games. Personally i always thought that FB made the game easier even compared to replacing FRCs with YRCs. Well of course, my ticket is the same. There is only one show and it is all standing, after all. Doors open at 5, show starts at 6. Cool that you are going. See you there. I really liked both of Faust's forcebreaks. Both really useful and fun to use. I still enjoy Xrd without them a whole lot. I have pretty much enjoyed every serious competitive GG fighting game.
Malcopunch Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Just curious..has there been any charcter thatr has always been top tier?
ElvenShadow Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Just curious..has there been any charcter thatr has always been top tier? Hmmm... no not exactly. Though there are characters that have consistently been very powerful. Eddie/Zato, Millia, Slayer, Faust are probably the ones that have the highest overall rankings within the games they appeared in, but that isn't to say that sometimes other characters don't end up being top tier (AC Testament and +R Zappa are the most obvious examples without having to even think about it).
Coffeeling Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Faust is probably the most consistent one. Seems unable to fall below mid tier.

I have pretty much enjoyed every serious competitive GG fighting game. Great. It's really been a while. Yeah. I don't have anything against Faust's FBs. But some other FBs were just so stupid and they made high damage combos really easy. Ie. Slayer's BBU, Eddie's Skills and May's body slam from AC. And Sol's FB SW and his 25% TR in +R made him a little bit brain dead.
ElvenShadow Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Faust is probably the most consistent one. Seems unable to fall below mid tier. I would say that the overall most powerful character throughout the history of GG has been Zato/Eddie. Faust is strong of course, but Zato/Eddie is almost always on top Actually, none of the characters that I mentioned have been below mid tier if I recall correctly. But Eddie/Zato has been the man of the hour more than anyone else.
Poultrygeist Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Aren't a lot of FBs still there in spirit anyway? Like doesn't Venom's new super sort of work on a similar concept to his FBs?
D.R.F. Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Aren't a lot of FBs still there in spirit anyway? Like doesn't Venom's new super sort of work on a similar concept to his FBs? I know for damn sure sols fafnir is a forcebreak in disguise
FKGunBlaze Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I know for damn sure sols sidewinder is a forcebreak in disguise A damn clever disguise then
Blade Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Mike Z already said (in this thread no less, check his posts) that the reason he doesn't like GGXrd so much is because he's used to PlusR. It's that simple. Some people are more used to Accent Core because that's all we had to play for years. You just get used to it. Adjusting takes time. That was his gripe and it was a valid one. Mike Z ain't a hater based on that alone. God I hate rumors.
OneSanitarium Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I know for damn sure sols sidewinder is a forcebreak in disguise You mean the move that isn't in Xrd? What? Surely I'm misunderstanding something here.
D.R.F. Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 You mean the move that isn't in Xrd? What? Surely I'm misunderstanding something here. Shit I meant fafnir lol. I feel dumb
AllyOfJustice Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I'm still wondering why they took out sidewinder. It wasn't overpowered or anything, it was one of the things that made playing Sol fun. Also, no more gun explosion after Fafnir

Also, no more gun explosion after Fafnir They took it out because it wasnt implemented in reload. Im pretty sure it started in AC. Its whatever tbh I loved watching the loop and doing it, but hey dustloop been around since forever so fuck yea. Im more excited to see if there will be new combo routes in the near future
zdravkelja Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I don't think that any move that had been introduced in AC was carried over to Xrd. I fine with 15 characters. This is a new chapter in the series, the game is in 3D and a lot of assets had to be created from scratch. BB started with only 12 if I remember correctly.

Also, no more gun explosion after Fafnir IMO dustloop is better for the flow of the game as it's corner only. It feels more rewarding as you need to land a short combo or two before you can even begin to set it up. Sidewinder makes Sol "stronger" tier wise but the long loops anywhere on the screen off easy starters just feels like blazblue and is annoying after a while.

Sol is better than most of the cast in XRD regardless
redsilversnake Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Actually, I'm positive I saw Sidewinder in a Slash video. From what I could tell, though, there wasn't a clean hit property, so I'm not sure what it was used for.
OneSanitarium Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Sidewinder was introduced in Slash, and it had Clean Hit there too. The box to hit it was just smaller, or harder to hit. Something along those lines.

Sol is better than most of the cast in XRD regardless You're right, forget the tiers part, "stable" is a better way to put it. Actually I wonder if 5H RC BB makes Sol too stable in this game too. Can he get a dustloop from midscreen? Like airdash j.D?

OneSanitarium Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Sol can also do a Riot Stomp while hes in the corner, do an airdash j.D after it, and put the opponent into the corner he started from. Essentially a corner to corner combo without changing actually going to a different corner. I don't know how hard it is to do though, but I've seen it in actual play. Video of it in the Sol forums. From actually midscreen, Sol has lots of ways to get someone to the corner. Especially with the help of the new RC systems.
DaiAndOh Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Aren't a lot of FBs still there in spirit anyway? Like doesn't Venom's new super sort of work on a similar concept to his FBs? Quite different actually. Not exactly sure if the bounce mechanics are the same, but it's bouncing a summoned ball rather than a ball shot with Stinger/Carcass. Axl's 2 chains are almost all 2 hits only in this right? That was AC IIRC. I-No Vertical Chemical Love is Slash or AC?
sren Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 if one takes Mike Z's opinion into account, probably should consider this too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUehIF19C5o http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chad2335W8k http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z52abInLm7w http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gICuAbbCbqA
OneSanitarium Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I-No Vertical Chemical Love is Slash or AC? VCL has been in since XX as a EX only move. Was introduced as its own thing, and somewhat differently acting, in Slash. Also where she got jump installed hoverdash.
