D.R.F. Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 That is actually what a lot of my friends are waiting for lol
Blade Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 No plz, just a Waste of time that could be used for something else Only if all you care about is balanced competition and not variety. Besides, what "something else" can you even think of that would be better? EX characters have always been interesting since they were introduced in GGXPlus. They're definitely not the same as Unlimited Characters as they aren't completely broken, but they give the game some lasting freshness to it that makes the fun matches last longer.
youcanwonder Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Gg is all about brokenness..they know the chars are better then others but they like it that way. Fun bearing a high tier w a low tier and so on so forth...Please no auto corrects tho. And also no pause btwn a button press when a super comes out that cancels the press...*cough usfiv cough* lol
TAI-X Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Just know that you wouldn't have many of the changes made to normal characters in AC+R if not for the experimentation that EX characters allowed. Anyway, I don't think that Xrd will see EX characters, because it would be way too much of a hassle to animate new moves in 3D for them.
TeeJay Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Wasn't Ex Robo Ky legit tourney allowed? Hopefully there will be some character trailers or something after the release date. I guess that's an Atlus thing but I'm sure it gets people's attention. Show of that game in 1080p. Sooo... player matches are gonna function like smaller 8 player online lobbies? I guess I missed stuff.
White Man Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 EX characters are a cool bonus feature, but their inclusion shouldn't be a priority--that is to say, something that eats up resources that could be used to develop more original content. If given the option, I'd definitely choose to have a 16th new character added to Xrd over EX movesets for the existing 15 characters.
shinr Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Since Xrd is 3D, the content that ended up on the cutting room floor (and since Xrd is ARC's second experiment on 2D-like 3D after Battle Fantasia, I expect a lot stuff were made just to see if it works or not and how and why) are more reusable, so the EX characters might be made of out of that without spending more time than needed making stuff just for them.
king of heart Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 When i mentioned EX characters. I meant that they could have new moves that they might give to the regular characters in the next Xrd version. I am not interested in playing the Ex characters themselves.
kosmos badgirl Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I will never pay for colours, but mabe for accessories or small cosmetic changes.
D.R.F. Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Ill pay for colors as long as they arent dumb expensive
king of heart Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I am at Mikado. Just heard that Taka Slayer qualified for Arc revo.
Clousephinat Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I've played with a few players in #R Online with EX characters, and they are definitely not broken, some characters in EX are probably even "worse" than their normal versions, while others are indeed much better. Adding the EX characters helped to this purpose since #R was not really well balanced, and from what I've seen (and also read from other players playing the game) I doubt Xrd will be more balanced than +R, honestly.
Blade Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 When i mentioned EX characters. I meant that they could have new moves that they might give to the regular characters in the next Xrd version. I am not interested in playing the Ex characters themselves. EX characters aren't some dumping ground for revisions and older moves, or necessarily a test bed, guys. They're an "alternate vision" of what those characters would fight like. In the real world fighting is a fluid thing. People aren't "locked" in a certain fighting stance doing the same moves over and over, people mix things up, change stances, etc... It's just an expression towards that purpose. Whether you are interested or not, some people still are, so you'll have to fight them and get used to that matchup, like it or not. Why do you think games like Samurai Showdown had Slash/Bust? Why do you think Street Fighter had ISMs and CvS had "Grooves"? Everybody has their own style. If you want perfect balance, go play Pong.

I am not entirely sure what you are going about with EX characters and people having to get used to those match ups. That is 100% wrong, I do not know the real reason EX characters were there in the first place but I do know I never have to give a shit. The reason is simple, if its not in the arcade version, its not in tournaments. So whatever ideals you have about EX characters are pretty meaningless. Unless they start including some alternate versions of the characters in arcade ill never have to learn an EX match up.
The DMK Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 As r0b0t said, balance isn't the issue. I always found it to be a shame. They are fun to screw around with. If they were actually in the arcade version, we'd have some more variety for tourney play (not that I ever felt it was lacking). That being said, some of the EX characters seemed a little janky. Awkward animations and such like Ky's floppy 5H and weird flip move. Some of it looked like they were reusing parts of other moves. In general, they kind of feel like they were thrown together.
mynus Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Never played with or against an EX char. Never will. Fuck that "having" to learn the matchup poppycock. Unless in official arcade/tourney setting. EX chars can EAD.
OneSanitarium Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I enjoy dicking around with EX characters, and sometimes there are interesting combo videos, but the inclusion of them in the game really isn't something I'd want to be a priority for ArcSys. It was also fun seeing alternate/old moves at times, though. Ky's 5H and 'flip moves' were things he had in GGX. I-no's VCL was first introduced as a move in her XX EX mode. +R Johnny got his air super form that too. Beyond that, though, it really, really shouldn't be a priority. And if they were included in the arcade mode, that's double the cast size they have to worry about balancing (and creating for any new assets.)
Garuda Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 I am at Mikado. Just heard that Taka Slayer qualified for Arc revo. Indeed, with Raigo (Chipp), Osaka B (Faust), Uki (Sol) and Wuzen (I-no). So there are 4 Millia, 4 Faust, 3 Ramlethal, 3 Chipp, 2 Sol, 2 I-no, 2 Bedman, 2 Venom, 2 Potemkin, 2 Ky, and 1 Slayer.

Blade Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Arcade versions of games aren't everything. The first Guilty Gear was never in arcades, doesn't make it any less important. And if you're all that stubborn to hate on EXs guess I'll just have to play them more.
