Although I can't speak for everyone's case, Ruu has said some players are waiting for characters, some don't like YRC, and some aren't playing games anymore.

I remember locally, we were trying to figure out for a while if I-No Inoue and HOS Inoue were the same person for some time (and turns out of course, they were :P)

This. GG is an old man's game lol. Like how Shounen went "home and became a family man" supposedly.

Dai, are they waiting for their character or a character they'll like?

AGF has been playing chipp now in XRD @mikado

He's all about them Colony stages lol.

Maan... this whole processes has been a mixed bag of successes and failures.  Overall the new GG is a quality game (or at least, most of the US veterans and and many Japanese players seem to think so.  However, we have an unavoidable mix of people that didnt get their main or they just hate GG.  I believe that anyone who gives GG a chance will not be disappointed. Rock on everyone!)

Lol Elven. And to you, good sir, DRINK ON! Lol but tbh more people will play it as characters are brought back and the game buffed and shined a little more.

Is Machaboo still not getting any games in because people refuse to play him?

Posting is fine, just don't drink and drive or do anything that'll get you killed. You're still my main source of gameplay impressions for SRK's front page (or the thread there) until we get it outside of Japan.

Speaking of not getting their main, It's quite amusing to see the trends featured in any Xrd related comments section.  From IGN to Shoryuken to Youtube to 4chan, I've noticed a definite trend in character demand.

Now, disregarding the inevitable Bridget faggolas, I'd definitely say that Baiken and Johnny are the most "WHENS X?!" characters, followed closely by Jam.  Interestingly enough and clashing directly with the reported Japanese popularity polls, I've seen quite a few Testaments too, as well as the occasional A.B.A.

I don't want to derail the discussion, but I would definitely agree that, after Leo, I'd love to see Baiken and Johnny be the next returning veterans.

Does anyone know what the majority opinion is in Japan?  I know Daisuke/Pachi said they were adding characters based on playstyle variety so it's sort of up in the air now that the Xrd roster is feeling a lot more filled out.

I believe that once sin and elphelt are put in the roster most character archtypes will be touched upon. After that baiken and johnny should definitely come after Leo because, well shit we dont have a character that thrives on defense, and Johnny is special in his own way. There probably will never be another character like zappa, and testament has a really cool zoning style.

ABA's base has been implemented in other characters, which is cool but ABA is also a better character than per se, Bullet.

BUT SHIT, I love the entire csst so as a fanboy I wanna see them all in unreal XRD :D

Could be either/or I suppose.

But Shonen plans on coming back with Faust.

...Considering that j.D adds 8 frames of landing recovery, even when FDC'd...

Just saw this today from 9/27/14 mikado 3v3.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32ukig2-qlg&list=UUNS7KzXpV2VFJZw_sB9uqhA&t=3m47s

OSCA goes nuts with j.D FDC, whats interesting is that he also does j.D FDC empty jump low with 2k. Attacks immediately afterwards with no landing recovery whatsoever. looks absolutely sick. He was also comboing off of j.D FDC j.k; so it seems pretty unlikely that there should be any type of landing recovery after the j.D FDC at least, especially regarding the empty into low option.

Nooooooooo......... or rather yes! that he plans to, his character choice just sucks (as I simply hate the doctor).

They should just say that they'll release most of the missing chars as DLC somewhere next year. I'd pay $5 for Testament in a heartbeat.

Eh, that trend is bringing flashbacks of the Marvel 3 pre-release days in all honesty. People cried doom and gloom over missing staple Marvel 2 characters and the new mechanics (which I don't think anyone would argue are better than anything in Xrd), yet it still blew up and got in heaps of new blood – a number of which are killers now.

I don't know how to say this without outright disrespecting the legacy/history of these games and its players, but I always thought that the people that knew Marvel 2 were nowhere near the scope of the potential people that could get into the MVC series through the 3rd installment  …similarly to how the people that know Guilty Gear are nowhere near the scope of the potential people that could get into GG through Xrd now. If vets/old timers want to pick it up then great, that is on them, but I think in the long run instead of trying to persuade those that refuse to play the game for whatever set reason, or even using them as an absolute metric for the game's success, it'd be more lucrative to focus that energy on getting new players on board.

What does this mean exactly?

New story and online details. Unfornutetly we need to wait for a bigger scan and I have no idea what the article says(I found out what is about from another site).

Still, you can see Leo talking to someone(a woman I'm guessing?)

Well, at the very least Xrd is closer to how GG plays than Marvel 3 is to its predecessors (going from a reset focused game with relatively short combos in 2 to a TOD fest with long ass combos in 3).

That said, the nice thing that happened with 3 is that, despite people's reservations about it, most of the players either transitioned and continued to play (JWong, Clockwork, FChamp, Viscant, etc.) while others who didn't such as Yipes (who only started playing later on) worked to help build the community.

Sadly, I won't be too surprised if Aksys announces it's been pushed back. They've clearly stretched themselves incredibly thin by taking on so many localization projects with retail releases at once, and the messy business of manufacturing all those Xrd limited editions for two platforms was sure to drag them down. They may have also had to go through an additional certification process, since it's their first PS4 game.

Plus, given that this is such a major release for both companies, ArcSys probably wants to make sure that no corners are cut with the localization this time around (looking at the absent Library Mode in BBCP & the game's generally poor translation quality) and that they give it the best treatment possible. At least, I hope so.

Don't tell me how to, how to fuckin' live my life bro. YOU'RE NOT MY REAL DAD!

There's noting wrong with people crossing their fingers for their mains in a new game, but I frankly don't understand this mentality of refusing to play a game unless specific characters make the roster.  It's a sequel, man.  Some things are going to be different from the game you're playing now.  Complete parity in the cast is an unreasonable expectation for what is technically the first installment in a brand new series.

If you're not even willing to learn a new character (or learn new tricks for a character whose moveset has changed significantly between installments), then you were never really a fan of Guilty Gear; you were a fan of the one specific play style you'd put the effort into training.

Oh well, I guess it's still better than people who drop games because their main fell slightly in the tier lists between revisions.  I have zero respect for players like that.

FYI, ASW is doing the localization themselves. Aksys is only publishing the game. If there's a delay for the NA release, it'll happen because of poor planning and coordination on ASW's part...or much more likely, ASW honestly doesn't care about the NA release enough to put any real effort into it until the JP version is done or almost done.

Hey I'm super late but Leo having a model and portrait doesn't mean jack shit regarding his playability. The amount of work that would go into making a passable model for story mode (normal biped skeleton, standard texture set, etc.) is nothing near the level of work that would go into making a playable character (hundreds of deformation bones, endless rigging, LOD texture sets, attack designs, effects, voice acting, etc. etc.).

He's relevant to the story mode, so that doesn't mean he couldn't end up playable, but this isn't enough to go on to even really speculate. At least if they made Paradigm playable they'd have a moveset and some animations to pull from.

(Keep an eye out for playable Senators 1-3, all of Ky's soldiers, Illyria Citizens 1-20, and Zepp Flight Director.)

Were any of them shown at the end of the trailer along with Ram, Sin and El? Because that's been the primary reason everyone's calling Leo a future addition to the roster.

Is this like... supposed to guilt people back into the series or something? Because frankly people should be able to play whatever the fuck they want without forum members being on their ass about it.
