HolyOrderChipp Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 Someone like Order Sol I see as DLC, since it's an easy way of stealing money from people like Titanium Beast, and other Order Sol lovers. Yeah and the worst part is we'll fall for it. But hey, gotta have Order-Sol. (And then I'll have to navigate complaining when I go to people's houses and they don't have OS.) Gonna be... Fun. Or maybe Daisuke will have my back and his hopes for "everyone" will be vindicated. Who knows, maybe bed person will even be just some nonplayable boss character. Maybe we just get the 25 back. I'd be so happy with that. I honestly have no desire for new characters and I see them as making returning characters less likely, so I'm pretty much against them. If we first got the 25, maybe we could talk about new characters. But even then I'd ask why we need them and if making the game harder to balance is worth it. (But if we do get new characters then I will want to see them in every future version.) Basically, don't cut down the cast, and certainly don't cut it down to replace people. And especially not unique and cool characters like Order-Sol. Where will I get my short jumps and ridiculously damaging combos?
destruction_adv Posted November 25, 2013 Posted November 25, 2013 I am aware that he likes 3s, but that is not the point (specially because GG is mechanically different in everything to 3s and thank the gods for that), the point here is that ASW wouldn't be so fool to drop characters because lolstory I 2nd this, but I don't think we can expect all the characters to return at once, we'll likely see some of them as console exclusives, and later some as DLC.

Either timed releases or we'll have to wait for Xrd #r The only way that argument would be valid was if they'd sell DLC characters the way they are in AC, that you've played for so long - sprites, moves and all that. But they wont. It won't be the same, let's say Baiken. She'd be reworked for the new game, with the same amont of work going into that, as all the characters already in the game. You'll pay 40-60 bucks for 12 characters "you've used for 10 years" and 1 new one - but wont pay 5 bucks for an extra chara? Now that's "retarded".
Suzaku Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Knowing the amount of money that goes into developing a single character for a fighting game, and the fact that ASW doesn't really do on-disc DLC, I don't have any problem with paying for new characters. It's a good way to expand the roster without having to wait a year or more for a new revision. I've got absolutely no problem with paying a little bit for extra content that was developed after a game's launch. There's a lot of iffy things going on with microtransactions, but that's not one of them.

It would probably take them an extra few months to develop those characters (considering the speed so far, I'd say like 7 months assuming characters are in production cycle when the arcade version is released), then release a console version that will actually stick and do yearly updates on PS4 that cost some money, but lag very little behind the arcade version. The DLC colors in P4U and BBCP are undoubtedly on the disk, while Terumi and Noel's old outfit are both obviously on-disk (as both appear in story fights), and the same was confirmed for even Kokonoe. If Xrd does get DLC, it'll most likely be the same. That being said, the only release info we have for Xrd's console release is that it's next year. Depending on how long it is between the arcade release and whenever the PS3/4 versions come out, it's possible that enough characters will be added to the arcade version that there wouldn't be much character DLC. Although, that is assuming that ASW doesn't intentionally hold out to milk their fans.

If his story in Xrd was that there was literally only one Robo-Ky left, and his goal was to find all the wrecked RK units in order to collect their data and become the ultimate mecha, thereby finally surpassing "the defective original". Can you imagine how cool that'd be?) Besides, he's friggin hilarious, I'd be hella sad if they tossed him out for someone else.
