SolxBaiken Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 . . . OK, again . . . The Midnight Carnival is essentially filler that adds nothing to the overarching plot; it was pretty much just I-No screwing around [That Man even reprimands her for doing so in one of her endings]. There were some character moments and developments, and they are essentially being re-purposed for Xrd [ie. May's entire reason for being around being to discover what it means to be Japanese]. This doesn't mean that XX is not canon, but it leaves a nice murky point to jump into and continue on from, restructuring what "works".
Blade Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Okay since nobody wants to read the link I posted and be educated, I'll just simplify. GG [Canon] GGX > GGXX > GGXXACPlusR [Gaiden-Canon] (Collectively referred to as the "GGX Series", the X meaning "Extra") GG2 [Canon] GGXrd [Probably Canon since it's Linear]
MasterXDrake Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 They should have rebooted the franchise.
Guilty Valentine Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Oh alright! So I guess that's what the name Midnight Carnival comes from? Since like you said, pretty much just I-no screwing around.
Blade Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 I'm just gonna link this here because it's relevant to this topic! Database Mode will be coming to GGXrd soon, guys! If you had any questions that I or anyone else couldn't answer, they'll probably be covered eventually (though I doubt any of MY questions will be answered until much later!)
Zedar90 Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Why is a reviewer spoiling things in a review? Sure it's very minor but still... It looks like Johnny and Dizzy will appear in the story mode.
Blade Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 In the end, keep it to yourself unless someone doesn't have GGXrd and is begging/pleading for a translation and have THEM keep it to themselves. I know a lot but I'm keeping mum for various reasons.
CCVengeance Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stXJk920KPs What exactly is Axl implying here? Is he making a joke that's going over my head or does he know something about Sol that I'm not aware off?
D.R.F. Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 He knows about Aria most likely, and is talking shit cuz he is being douche. Or something like that
SolxBaiken Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Well keep in mind that Sol and Axl have been "friends" for "years", they've encountered each other multiple times during his time slips. I heard that today too and it makes me wonder if Axl had an encounter with Fredrick-Aria-That Man during their scientist days.
Blade Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Axl had a picture of Sol when he was a kid early on... not sure how he got it though. There's been statements (unconfirmed ones) that Axl has seen I-No among scientists... Ky suspects she is a military runaway of some kind. We still don't know the full story behind Axl or if he's been meddling in Sol's affairs or not or if he really is an old friend. I-No certainly has tried to kill Ramlethal several times it seems, but to no avail. She killed Sol and let Ky die in efforts to try and change the timeline... so far "this" is the best timeline she's made so far.. not sure how Axl will play in to all this.
Fangs Of Despair Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 But we still don't know why and how I-no can do time travel?
kylehyde Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 She killed Sol and let Ky die in efforts to try and change the timeline... so far "this" is the best timeline she's made so far.. Wait she's killed Sol before? Maybe I haven't been paying that much attention to GG, which I'll admit I haven't really. But when did this happen? I guess I thought that Sol was way too damn strong to be killed by someone like I-no. Are you referring to Accent Core when she sent him to the past to fight his former self? Thus erasing his existence?
Master Of Chaos Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 That was just a non-canon ending. There's a lot of those in Accent Core.
rayplay Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 I like how in the other version of that ending, Sol lives basically because he wants to.
Blade Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 But we still don't know why and how I-no can do time travel? According to Raymond / Judgment in Guilty Gear Judgment... I-No seems to have had the power to time travel since she was a child (though how HE would know that makes no sense since that's very paradoxical since she came from the future.) Wait she's killed Sol before? Maybe I haven't been paying that much attention to GG, which I'll admit I haven't really. But when did this happen? I guess I thought that Sol was way too damn strong to be killed by someone like I-no. Are you referring to Accent Core when she sent him to the past to fight his former self? Thus erasing his existence? Yeah, in effect, she erased Sol's past in an effort to destroy him, but he continued on as a paradox because he actively participated in her contradiction and willed himself back in to the original time frame. "That Man" and Raven helped him of course, via interrupting the time stream (because they knew Sol would be attacked) and by offering the suggestion that he had the 'will' to overcome it. (A classic case of "I think therefore I am" Past State affects Present State affects Future State, nullifying Past State). As a result... the Order-Sol from that "B Timeline" is dead and will remain dead, affecting a possible future outcome which I-No probably undid later on, same as Ky. It's sorta like Steins;Gate. That was just a non-canon ending. There's a lot of those in Accent Core. It's just one of the many possibilities OF THE CONTINUUM SHIFT! (Just kidding but there's lots of those in GGXPlus and some may not necessarily be contradicted by GGXrd yet. Axl hasn't met with "That Man" yet even though Dr. Faust suggested it to him, so his encounter with Raven hasn't happened yet.) I should note that Bedman refers to Sol as "Unbreakable" which may be a reference to his ability to resist outside chronological influence... since Bedman seems to know Axl Low's purpose as the messenger for the "Original Man" and wants to kill him. So, Bedman is more dangerous than first glance would indicate.
Fangs Of Despair Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 According to Raymond / Judgment in Guilty Gear Judgment... I-No seems to have had the power to time travel since she was a child (though how HE would know that makes no sense since that's very paradoxical since she came from the future.) Guilty Gear Judgment isn't canon right? So it can also be false
Clousephinat Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Is not canon but that doesn't mean there are not "true" facts in it, there it was confirmed for the first time that I-No has some type of important connection with Axl, and we do know now that is true, as well as Eddie trying to find a meaning of his existence that it was later confirmed and introduced again in AC+.
Sanger Zonvolt Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 Didn't cross my mind till now, but I think Elphelt is meant to be a fruit bat, hoho.
Solid Gold Wall Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 I-No has some type of important connection with Axl she's totally gonna end up being his daughter from the future or something ridiculous like that
Clousephinat Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 More accurate information regarding the previous spoiler, so it seems that any prior knowledge about the plot of GG will be really useful to fully understand Xrd's Story Mode (which I guess it means that the Post-War Administration Bureau must also be in this game).
Yukikaze Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 she's totally gonna end up being his daughter from the future or something ridiculous like that Predestination http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2397535/
Poultrygeist Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I didn't know where else to post this, but has anyone figured just wtf is going on on the monitor in Bedman's stage? Does it mean anything at all to his character?
SoWL Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 Dreams are rarely rational, so even if it is relevant to Bedman's story, it's probably masked by a whole lot of imagery and random nightmarish stuff. My gut feeling tells me that it's just some other person's dream, as Bedman would rather watch nightmares of other people than his own.
Poultrygeist Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 It looks like the hallway to a hospital, and someone walking into a patient's room and giving them a stuffed dog which looks identical to the giant dog on the stage itself. Trippy stuff.
