Nitsuano Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 I feel the same way, I'm not getting mine until tomorrow or Tuesday and I would really like to take part in these.
LukewarmHoliday Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Well I'll try to make it to this next one, seeing as all online lobbies are still dodge the noobs, stay classy EXVS. Kudos to the rare players who stick it out with me btw.
LegendaryLos Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 Just got my game today. I'm interested in taking part in this.
cassiuscinna Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Same as Los ^^ Definitely looking forward to trying out the game. I've talked my brother into at least doing the Arcade Mode/Mission Mode offline together so I'm going to be putting in some practice hopefully. Brett's guide has a few recommendations on beginner's suits but maybe other people have some recommendations?
MichaelVash7886 Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Ok now that everyone else is getting the game we all quit beginner night right Taco?
doubletaco Posted February 4, 2014 Author Posted February 4, 2014 Now that would just be rude. Although making room for some new blood would be very gracious for the regulars, unless someone wants to host a secondary lobby (which I am all for)
doubletaco Posted February 5, 2014 Author Posted February 5, 2014 Just a small update -- With the larger number of new players, and the very clear habit of players in public lobbies not wanting to pair with them (heard this from others as well as experienced it myself) I'm looking to expand this to two nights a week: Wednesday and Saturday. Same Gundam Time, same Gundam Channel. I don't think it'll be this week, but once work deadlines are past I'll try to make this a semiweekly event.
AirMaster Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 That'd be cool. I'm down to play with you guys on saturdays and give pointers and all.
Huaouri Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 The idea of having 2 days a week seems good to me...dammit (I want my copy =(,will really take a lot of time for my copy to arrive). And the idea of having two rooms, seems great too, these is juts me trowing my 2 cents, but what do you think of having a room for arcade mode? To help the new blood to the series (like me) ,as it was the intention of the developers? I for once never played a gundam game I was more Armored Core, Zone Of the Enders. Let's face it for us who are outside from japan and didn't want to import those 2 series are all the mecha we could get with quality. (that's another discussion..lol). Can we have the replays in arcade mode or they only function in normal matches? (cause they can be great tools to see what we do wrong and good) I leave the rest to you guys, tell me what do you think and it's on your mind!
gmsephiroth Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Well, arcade mode doesn't have rooms, just two players per session like in Ranked Team Hold. And Arcade doesn't have replay functionality either. It also moves at a pace where it is difficult to do chat unless it's a Skype live call or something.
MichaelVash7886 Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I would be ok playing a little on Wed, maybe an hour or two. I wish we could figure out a way for experienced people to better give tips. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
MichaelVash7886 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Looking forward to battling it out tonight.
doubletaco Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 We'll be starting things up in about 30 minutes. Hope to see you all there!
Genoce Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 I wouldn't know, I was only there for the first one since I got FB this week.
beaver1231 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 I see, my bad. For starters, you can PM weeaboomode on PSN to get you an invite. Beginner nights happen on Sundays and Wednesday nights (EST). There will also be reminders if you join the skype chat. You can also launch the twitch stream by doubletaco to see if they are still there.
doubletaco Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 Thanks to everyone who showed up this week! This next week won't be the first semiweekly event, but hopefully the following week we'll be movnig to a Wednesday/Saturday twice a week format. Also, we apparently had a bit of salty message exchanging in the lobby tonight. I'd really like to avoid that. If you're getting upset in the lobby, please just leave without harassing anyone. That isn't the purpose of the beginner lobby.
LukewarmHoliday Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Well good enough to smash the beginner room I guess, but still too awful to play team free without getting dodged. ahahahaahahahahahaa I love this game. Really don't know what to do at this point.
gmsephiroth Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Well good enough to smash the beginner room I guess, but still too awful to play team free without getting dodged. ahahahaahahahahahaa I love this game. Really don't know what to do at this point. I'm right there with ya. I did exceptionally well in the Beginner room, but I get those kinds of numbers in losses when I play in regular rooms. It is a bit of conundrum for me.
LukewarmHoliday Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 (edited) Its just stressful because I have to fight tooth and nail to get games and everyone already good is continuing to grind out further and further ahead. In EXVS vanilla when I played the playerbase was small and people's games played were already so high they didn't worry about winrate. So I didn't sit stranded for nearly as long even though it was still a problem. There also usually wasn't an "other guy" I would migrate to being paired with because it was much tighter player-base. Deculture Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 (edited) Same situation here. I played a bit of EXVS 2~ years ago but mostly just offline, so I'm not completely new but I may as well be when it comes to FB online play. I've learned a lot playing in NA/EU rooms in the past 3 days but I still get wrecked pretty regularly against the veteran players. I primarly have issues with overheating and knowing when to melee, but I think I'm getting the hang of team health control and the basic fundamentals like fuwa step and on angle shooting. edit: also kinda sucks that I can't really play ranked because I'm on the east coast (red bars errywhere with Japanese players). Ms. Bushido Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Hello everyone! I played on Saturday (only one game) but as a beginner I see the how valuable (or invaluable) it is for beginners to come together and improve together. I would definitely be willing to practice even outside of the Saturday schedule if there are any other beginners available to as well. My PSN is MsBushido, so please feel free to add me or message me here if you'd like to discuss Gundam! As for my background, I came from primarily playing 1v1s without even knowing of the finer techniques such as boost hopping or Zunda. I am just learning these techniques. I won't even get started on working as a team. I just hope those who play with me can be patient as I learn, as I am basically relearning everything from the ground up. Thank you!
raidendM Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Hi all, just got the game last week and have been doing decent in offline but am getting smashed in online so hopefully this will help me out! My JP PSN is inchokku and I'm on most afternoons and nights. Thanks and look forward to playing with you guys!
Envoy.Cookie Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I would love to get in this as well! Me and my friend that just started playing last week and were having a blast. ;o JP PSN - cMeIn3s
