pretty much situationally necessary, but i wouldnt prioritize it over keeping my burst (which also gives me the option to burn od on my next confirm if necessary. NEAT HUH)

hey guys! I'm a bit outdated, so here is my basic question.

How is Ragna in CP? He is good in the picture? he continues to be a monster like in CS: EX, he is simply a solid character, or he fell into the group of the weakest?

He's Ragna, and so he will always be bad according to Ragna players. He will never be a complete character due to his design, but even when he's decent, people on this board will tell you he's bad, and I don't blame them.

Ragna's definitely in the upper half based on what I've seen in the dozens of matches I've watched. His damage was reduced, but his corner carry was actually buffed quite noticeably. Deadspike is buffed and blood scythe is absolute shit very strong a welcome new option interesting...

IMO Ragna looks 'ok' in CP. I am still salty about 6B's nerf, but I'm more salty about the loss of so many of our dash cancels. Outside of that, he still gets really good damage with meter. I have seen 5B>5C>2C>RC combos doing over 4600 damage with crazy corner carry, and that is a lot. I don't know how much Dead Spike was really buffed because I don't think we have info on how + it is on dash cancel, but the slightly faster startup is definitely welcome.

Outside of that, he seems to be the same old Ragna. 5B managed to get away with yet another buff(If I am correct 5B only got buffed with each patch since CT which is pretty amazing given BB's history of mass nerfing) and ID is still godlike.

I almost feel like they took away so many of Ragna's dash cancels so they would force us Ragna players to mix up our combos.

That being said? The bullshit that is not dash cancelling 5D? Ridiculous. Everything else? I'm..okay.

CP Ragna is EX Ragna without damage, which was the only thing that made him good in EX.

Also, the 5C hitbox nerf is bs

Ragna looks "alright" from what I've seen. He's got decent corner carry, he can still get reasonable amounts of damage from a simple starter, and the new 22C looks decent at least.

But this being Ragna, people are just gonna call him shit regardless so you're better off just watching vids and judging for yourself.

Hell no. That gave Ragna oki options. They either teched or ate 400 damage + restand. Now we have a combo tool.

The people that lost to Ragna in EX are still going to lose to him in CP, since he still has good hitboxes, and a 23 frame overhead. However, against people that actually knew how to block/deal with his hitboxes, he has an even harder time.

lmao this. Most of Ragna's specials are already combo filler at heart. At least old 22C was oki first and could be RCed for truly stupid damage second.

I think there's just a general aura of fraudulence that surrounds the character, which is why he always seems bad. If you try to play him in a 100% honest way, he sucks because of a lack of tools. So you have to be fraudulent to win with him.

His normals (To me / IMO / Don't hurt me) Have always seemed to be rather strong Zoning tools. He has a lot of dominating normals that can almost dictate the opponents options entirely in some circumstances. I reckon he still looks very solid as a whole, Though I don't play him that much, so it's just me.

He has very good zoning normals, but he loses to the actual legit zoners in the game, from my experience. Characters that actually control space well at a distance beat him at his own game. He also has problems with the really mobile characters who can just maneuver around him and then get into a better offensive position that he can't deal with. Incidentally, many of the characters in these two categories are some of the better characters in BB, and so you encounter them fairly often.

So we should stay free and play like that crazy Sol player I forgot the name? He is pretty awesome, so I would not mind that.

Objectively Ragna hasn't changed. He's still a character who has to play really solid and/or risky in order to win. His damage is solid, corner carry is great, mix-up is still meh, but with dash cancel Dead Spike and Blood Scythe as a new tool I think his pressure did get better if even just a tiny bit. All in all Ragna is good in my opinion, he can still win, but he's still a character who is "easy to get into, hard to master".

So if you still like the character after all that, then you'll be fine with Ragna in CP.

Yeah I was just kinda throwing out the fraudulence thing. I don't think you have to play that way regularly to win, but some of the stuff I see the strong players do seems that way. Example for me would be kogatan doing repeat IDs and trying to catch people with RC -> ID after getting one blocked. It just feels like his regular tools are so limited that against someone who knows how to fight the character, the stuff you have to do to win seems fraudulent.

Fraudulent = random is how i take it. if it works it works. Kogatan is an exception. at least from what i see. as opposed to Fuse

Random is a way to put it, I see it more as shenanigans. Tactics that only really seem to work when the other person doesn't know about them, or that cannot be relied upon in a consistent manner.
