JyakotuKurayami Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Chaos definitely has some similarities with Carl, but Carl definitely has more tricky stuff up his sleeve. Also you'll probably have to deal with playing a "low tier" character, as the general consensus is that Chaos might be the worst character in the game. If you want someone that can do rushdown alongside some zoning, I might recommend trying Nanase. Yeah, I've been reading that Chaos is a low tier character, but I didn't expect him to be considered the worst character in the game. I'll definitely watch some gameplay videos of Nanase to see if I would like to pick her up. I'll probably get to play this game soon, but I won't purchase it myself until it gets localized in 2015.
JettyLovefield Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 Byakuya is similar to Carl. He has traps to make up for although he lacks overhead but his B+C
Daedron Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 One of his charged moves is an overhead, 2C I think? Doesn't even look like an overhead but it is!
Rhiya Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 One of his charged moves is an overhead, 2C I think? Doesn't even look like an overhead but it is! 3C. I got hit by that so many times one round today because I had no idea it was overhead. I got mad confused when I was getting hit by it, because the thing just looks like an anti-air. I figured it out eventually, but it's pretty deceptive, as far as animations go. JettyLovefield 1
TD Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 Byakuya has command overheads. Granted they don't give a low options without gimmicks, but command overheads nonetheless
Dandy J Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 charge overheads have a natural mixup with non-charge version chained into a low. not that hard to block, but when you mix up with everything else you will def. get hits D.R.F. 1
susano Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I'm a little discouraged by this game. I'm probably going to get 'B - But you play a top tier character' but I don't understand certain things. Like how the hell am I the one pressing buttons first and somehow nothing comes out and I get blown up? This has been happening on and off.
zankoku Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Are you referring to neutral, or some other situation?
susano Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Are you referring to neutral, or some other situation? Yes in neutral. I don't understand what's going on. Either my neutral sucks or I didn't mash hard enough.
Errol Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 there could be a number of reasons but don't start from what you are doing is right, start from what are you doing that is wrong. if you press a button and nothing comes out, you're probably still in blockstun and then you're getting hit during whatever else you're trying to do that was based on that button coming out.

I'm talking about getting hit, teching, trying to mount some offense, only for buttons to be nonexistent. I just find it hard to mount offense in this game.

I find that you really have to know when to commit to a normal is this game. Even something as simple as a 5A feels like it has an eternity of punishable frames, so I absolutely see where you are having issues. Hitboxes are also pretty goofy sometimes. I think it will just take some more time getting used to the games engine and learning to space yourself properly. As someone who plays Seth, I feel your pain all too well.
D.R.F. Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Idk. Im pretty glad i at least understand why shit hits the fan hydes neutral is getting more manageable the more I play. Just gotta remember my normals are worse than most people
Fatalis Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 How are you getting blown up in neutral? I haven't had problems with my normals coming out in neutral, although you might be getting stuffed with meaties/frame traps in defense which may feel like your normals aren't coming out. EDIT: Just saw your latest post. Don't try to spam your way out of wakeup, you'll get stuffed most of the time. Gordeau's only invulnerable stuff (Ex Grim Reaper/Ex Assimilation) is easily punishable. Just wakeup blocking, and wait for the blockstring to end and go back to neutral. I find it's hard to immediately change momentum in a match.

It's like what Stella explained. Certain things just feel like they take an eternity to come out, like I stood there and did nothing. In trying to get used to the game but wth. I guess that means I have to block forever until something screws up on the other end.
drugtown Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 ^ Lol that makes life so easy though i'm just not used to it and i'm still trying to play like i have one @_@ D.R.F. 1
JettyLovefield Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Almost every player that i met while playing Hyde\Akatsuki they get stuffed by my meaty fireballs, it's almost free win everytime lol. Also you gotta get used to block, then learn to counter attack. Characters like Carmine, Akatsuki and such are the reason why i gotta block for good
Icekin Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 I don't mind blocking for a while. You get GRD and eventually vorpal/CS, at which point it becomes very dangerous for them to put pressure on you. This isn't BB where your barrier guage is running out and you have to make it count.

Fatalis Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 You may have missed my edit, but wake up and block is a really good option. Mixing up teching, delay tech, and standard getup to get people to mistime their meaties can also be a good way to get in.

Errol Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 blocking is relatively pretty good in this game. you can totally get blown up though if you're too passive.
Icekin Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Yeah there's a balance to be stricken between being defensive and just letting people walk all over you. Still, defense is strong. Blocking gives GRD, shield blocking adds recovery to air moves and prevents them canceling, teching grabs puts you at +8, etc.
