Any objections?

Will anybody record the tournament and put it on YouTube -- at least the Carl matches? I'm on PSN but would love to see these. Sounds like fun. Good luck to the Carl Clover fraction!

Lol I was joking with my roommates on how when The light and I were playing, we were having nice clean Carl vs Carl matches, ie. no throw loops. Then you come along and contaminate our room with the throw loops. You were then the enemy from there on out. Lol j/k.

I've stopped practicing or using throw loops in every match I play [except occasionally in corners]. I just can't do it anymore, I suck at it unless I practice it every day and it really messed me up at Impact Clash (tourney). I play smarter and screw up less without it, plus I wanna prepare for CS!

That's whats up. A lot of the combos being done in CS can be done in CT so practice up. j.2C allecan 2D looks glorious. When we first started our matchups I planned on doing the throw loop but I noticed that when you hit me you never went into it, I figured I shouldn't either.

I started practicing j2C 2D combos in CT tonight and, man, that combo is SO much fun. It's too bad it's not so useful in this version or I would do it all the time lol.

Looking at your sig I realized that out of all the changes Carl is getting in CS, I think the hardest transition I'll have to make is Carl's name having 3 syllables.

Don't mention that it's from SBO in the title and video description and you'll probably be fine?

Rapidshare/Megaupload/whathaveyouuploadingservice and post for people to PM you for the link. How big is the whole set of SBO vids, actually?

You sir, are awesome.

It was good to finally play you! Albeit some lag, but GGs still. =)

Just out of curiosity... Do any of you Carl players use an arcade stick? I'm just about fed up with the d-pad for the Xbox 360 controller. Is Volante (new projectile) not air techable, or only on counter hit?

I use a stick. It took a couple months to get used to it and I still have a bit of trouble with inputs for supers (236236, 214214, 632146) but I would say that it improved my game dramatically.

I also use the 360 analog. How much does a stick cost?

You're looking at maybe 55-[insert maximum higher than 149]$ in cash money.

55 is for the person who's a cheap bastard and always looks for low prices on everything (eBay).

149 is for the person who doesn't mind looking through the acessories section of the nearest Gamestop more than once to make absolutely sure there is a fightstick he didn't miss and doesn't mind shelling out cash to get it w/o bartering with sellers on eBay.

Modding a stick to get custom art/buttons/etc would bump the prices up by about 100 for parts, and depends entirely on whether you're willing to void your warranty to mod your stick so it's tailor-made to your own liking, and how easy/hard it is to mod that particular stick.

Honestly, this is just what I know about sticks, which is very little and based on local talk about sticks, so take it with a grain of salt.

That depends, I got an SFIV standard stick on ebay and switched out all the parts with Sanwa ones. You can find parts for sticks here. If there is one character that needs a stick to play well, I would say Carl is the one.

Could you guys recommend an arcade stick that won't need any parts to be replaced? I don't really care for artwork. If there aren't any sticks that won't need any buttons replaced, then how easy is it to mod it? I think I've fought Kyle(Wattatula?) a few times, and Novalanch(?) like... once or twice. You guys have really solid Carls. :P Could you guys describe how air dashing would work/feel like on an arcade stick? Also, what button layout do you guys use? ABCD or DABC? Thanks for answering in advance.

HRAP 3 and the SF4 Tournament Edition sticks don't need mods I believe. Even with that, the "feel" of any stick is subjective. Some my like their arcades sticks to feel one way while others may want theirs differently. Its all about preference. I wouldn't wreck your brain over it. But yeah higher quality sticks like those two will cost you a pretty penny. I just did a lot of research at shoryuken.com in the tech talk forums. I'd tell you what layout I use but I don't want to create a bias. Whether you do ABCD or DABC I don't think it matters. Its all about feel. Do you really want me to tell you? How easy it is to mod a stick depends on the stick itself. Some are easy others are a pain.

Xithmos: Airdashing on stick is the same as pad. Just move/tap it once then allow it to return to neutral before doing it again. Returning to neutral is the key. And as always do it slow to learn it then increase it in speed to see how fast you can execute it without a mistake. TE sticks are all the rage so you might want to look into getting one. Also, to answer your other question the majority of pad players at arcades use DABC because of the button layout similarity. Furthermore DABC is popular with Carl players but you should choose what you feel comfortable with executing so play with both and pick what feels right to you.

So something like this will last me longer than a year or so?

If I wanted to replace the buttons on the arcade stick (so as to get different colors), how long (on estimate) would that take?

Do you guys assign buttons for rapid cancels and barrier? Also, how consistently do you guys do IAD>kara cancels with the stick?

Thanks again. :v:

Well ordering the parts should take a few days to a week or two to deliver based on how busy the company you ordered from is and replacing all parts should take about an hour or so maybe two if you've never done it before and need to look up a guide on how to do it. I learned from Fubarduck. Opening HRAPs can be confusing the first time. One thing to note about that particular stick example you have used is that is has been pre modded compared to other horis. It has the Seimitsu buttons not sure which ones though and those are actually what people put into their sticks when they mod.

Basically what I'm trying to say is its already got good parts in my opinion, unless you just aren't a fans of seimitsu (I have a sanwa stick and a seimitsu one) or you just want to change button colors.

As for assigning buttons most people I know who use sticks want to emulate the arcade feel as much as they can so that when we actually visit the arcade and play on a cab we don't need to rely on quick buttons. I'm sure you know everything can be done with A, B, C, and D (and taunt but not a lot of people really care about that button) so you only need four of the eight buttons. But i'm sure if thats what best suits you you could map the other four to fit your taste RCs, Barriers, Counter Assaults and whatnot.

Again as everyone else has been stating its up to you and what you are comfortable using and practicing with.

And as for the IAD Kara-can its easy in training mode but when put to actual use in real battles I tend to fail, the motion is still new and weird to me but it just requires a little work and i'm sure you'll get it.

*Edit: I've been around for a few months and this is barely my first post??... wow...
