Hi everyone, I've decided to try Carl... about 30 minutes in, I managed a loop of 3 clap traps (in practice) before I messed up. I felt really, really happy, because it shows that I can manage to do traps with more practice! Just curious, what are your guys' feelings the first time you did a clap trap?

The first time I got the 6A rep, I was so :O that I didn't jump and grab again afterwards... so I had some face-palmage.

I'm totally fine with spamming 2c - 8d and hoping they neutral tech...

I actually do this alot. When they barrier burst (like they are supposed to) I forget to punish them with the gear special...O.o

OK, this crossed my mind in the middle of a 3S-style across-full-screen poke waitfest... Carl's taunt is subtle and quick. That short taunt time made be really think about this: has anyone tested the potential for T~8D for an empty clap?

I use 2A or 5A. Taunt would have some more style point tho.

What does "Neesan Osoi desu yo" mean in english? I'm not even sure i spelt it right. I know Neesan means sister, but that's about it.

From what I can gather:

Sister late/slow are <very>

SISTER! YOU'RE LATE!!!!! :gonk:

Separate that line into two different battle quotes. "Neesan" is Carl calling to his older "sister" when he activates a clap and "Osoi desu yo" is "You're slow" with a bit of confidence to it, directed to the opponent (presumably meaning, "haha you missed the tech frames"), and said when he successfully pulls off an air throw. I believe the official translations are "Ada" and "Too slow~".

I've been trying to make a dustloop account for like two years but I was like HURR DURR WHY ARE ALL MY EMAIL ACCOUNTS BLOCKED. Then I learned a few days ago it's because they auto block hotmail accounts. :psyduck:

Yeah once again I'm on my roommates 360 while I'm in college. No bebe0330 until winter break and summer break. I should be a lvl 70+ Carl by now, but that's not gonna happen for a while.

Quoted for Truth. It's crazy to watch him play now, esp against any and all kunes.

I just got the game a few weeks ago and haven't played too much due to grad school. I've heard that Carl gets wrecked for free without his infinite clap/throw loop. Is that true, because I enjoy how Carl plays since I loved Liesolotte in Arcana Heart, but I won't waste my time if I have to do one combo to stand a chance? Thanks

Not necessarily. Carl is still better than Tager or Hakumen without the loop. Plus he tons of other combos that he can do because you're not going to always be in a situation to go into the throw loop. None of them are as strong of course. He does, however, have 2 variations of a ground combo that does a butt load of damage. jC(or j.2C allecan) - land - 5B - 5C - 6D - jC(or j.2C allecan) - land - 5B - 5C - 6D - jC(or j.2C allecan) 5B 5C 623C - 2C(or 8D) - 2C into throw loop. Without the throw loop this combo still hurts. I usually get this combo going after an IAD j.2C crossup. If the opponent has already bursted this combo does anywhere from 60% to 75% damage. Shiawase: After a forward grab: 1. j.2C allecan - 5B - jB - jB - jC (or j214C) 2. 22D (during Carl's throw animation) - 236A(you swith sides with nirvana on the other side) - 44 - 2B - 2C - 8D - clap loop or throw loop. 3. Gear super. If Nirvana is on the other side of the gear you can time an 8D catch them when they go flying and you can go into a clap loop or throw loop. After a backwards grab: 1. 236A (you'll roll to the other side of them) - 5B - jB - jB - jC. (or j214C) 2. 22D (during Carl's throw animation) - 236A ( to switch sides and have nirvana on the opposite side) - 5B - jB - 8D - j214C 3. Gear super. If Nirvana is on the other side of the gear you can time an 8D catch them when they go flying and you can go into a clap loop or throw loop.

What are some combos/options that Carl has after a standing grab?

You can go into throw loop off of both grabs.

Forward throw, 22D IAD j.2C allecan 2C 8D --throw loop

Backward throw, 22D 236A 2C 8D ---throw loop
