Zephyrion22 Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Out of curiosity, has anyone tried to implement beak driver corner loops into their game? When I first saw the video about it, I kinda wrote it off as a funny combo video combo that was too character and situationally specific to be practical and didn't try to practice it, but seeing Gaku play and just completely win games with it has changed my mind. Has anyone had enough success with it to be able to explain it, or will I need to learn japanese to translate the video? It's a bit hard to do reliably in a real match, but it is still perfectly doable. the trick is to perform the first charged Beak driver just before the opponent falls to the ground. This way, they can't airtech out of the wall splat and they are forced to go trough the whole wall stun animation. after that you just have to microdash and do charged Beak drivers one after another. This time you want to release the Beak drivers the exact moment they become charged (you can see a little spark and wave when that happens) until you are nearly out of food or too far away. Generally you can get 2 or 3 on pretty much any character , and get a fourth one on some of the cast. Best bet is to do like Gaku and either RC the third one extend the loop and get a knockdown> refill setup or leave it at that and refill your calories

As stated, getting at least 2 is do-able off of most combos into crit 623S and 3+ are possible via RC, a 6HS punish, or landing a dust and forward dashing. In general you should always try for low beak drivers that lead to wall splat -> crouch hitstun in the corner, as you have more options compared to the standard wall splat follow-up. As an example, you can cancel beak driver into K leap (hold 6) and then do either an early-ish or late j.6HS. The early j.6HS will vacuum in and knock down, giving you the potential for corner cross-up oki. Opting instead for the late j.6HS will give you max damage with a landing 2HS(3) > 5HS(1) > 6HS > 236H.
Robawtninja Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 I've been incorporating them in my matches with increasing success. The problem is being in the corner and having the right starter or having the meter/calories available to go into them. There are a few ways to go into it but the absolute easiest way is off of corner Dust wall splat. You can go straight into charged Beak Driver but I actually suggest doing 6HS into charged Beak Driver. Wait for them to start falling before you do 6HS. If you're right in the corner though you're almost always guaranteed 3 BD's. Another great way is to RC after a charged BD after your typical 623S > 214S > 236[H] or the one after that etc. CH 6P > 214S > 236[H] is another good one. Microdash Beak Drivers are the end goal so that you can maximize as many as you can in one combo. What exactly are you (Nagorb) looking for in terms of learning this? It's actually self explanatory but would help if we knew what you wanted to get into detail of. If you wanted my opinion if you should learn it or not, I say definitely yes. It makes Sin extremely calorie efficient and maximize damage like none other. It literally makes his corner Dust combo (even RC corner grabs) go from his weakest combos to one of his strongest. It does a crap ton of damage for low calorie cost and sets up different Voltec Dein setups as well.
chzchan Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 I have yet to master it but it is completely burst safe which is probably the biggest reason I got interested in learning it aside from the fact that it is pretty funny.

Dreiko Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Smell the rainbow, taste the rainbow. And Sin is all about that tasting.

Yeah I was mostly asking if it was worth learning because I don't have all that much time in the day to practice and didn't know if it was worth investing time into. I've since tried it out and even adding one extra BD adds insane amounts of damage.
MightyMar Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 ^ This is a thing? Yup Yup. Usually a skype group dedicated to a specific character exists. It looks like one does not exist for Sin so I guess I will start it up. Send your contact info to my skype: mightymarcurse if you would like to get in.
Eshi Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 So I really really like Sin now & after one week of practice I am going evenish with the other strong players in my state, but it's quite disheartening to deal with the complete lack of JP match videos. The FT3 sets with Gaku have been ridiculously useful as well as playing with some of his private tech videos, but otherwise I feel like I have to figure out everything on my own. Match-up strats are definitely my major lacking area of knowledge. Also, what the FUCK is up with Sin's wake-up animations??? Arcsys made them so weird, I literally can not reversal DP with this character because I can't gauge the timing correctly. It's the only thing I really hate about him.
NagorbMan Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 That's pretty much everyone's problem. Its also a bit unfortunate that Gaku's FT3 sets are his arguably better matchups (with the exception of maybe Chipp) and by the time he gets to arcades where we could get regular matchvids of he'll be buffed. What specific matchpus are you struggling with?

What specific matchpus are you struggling with? I wouldn't say I'm struggling with any of them, it's just bothersome not knowing if there's an optimal way to approach certain match-ups that I'm not aware of. My lowest win rate is against Millia, though.
Dreiko Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 I may be the only one but I have a (much) easier time dp-ing with the animation that happens near instantly than with the one that takes slower to happen. I dunno what it is. Prolly just that it happens more often so you get more in-match-practice. You become accustomed to one timing so adjusting to a second one feels "wrong". They're fixing that in the update though, so there's that.
Eshi Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Oh wow, they are?! That's fantastic! Dreiko Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Yeah one of the overall "system changes" was something along the lines of "it's easier to get moves to be f1 reversals now". It's for everyone.
Robawtninja Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Eshi, you should check out the vids of JT and Bleed. JT got 2 hours against Ogawa and 1.5 hrs against Woshige (since you're struggling-ish against Millia). I'm having the most trouble with I-no and now more recently Bedman.

Eshi Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Now that it's official, allow me to properly introduce myself as the new Sin mod! I'm gonna do my best to clean up the format of content on this board and contribute useful information. I only just picked up this character but I really love him and plan to stick around for a long time.
Robawtninja Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 The only thing that excites me about this patch is the ability for Sin players to play in arcades and get recorded. Really hoping the strong ones go to Mikado so we get good footage. Other than that I'm kinda eh until it reaches consoles.
Chewie891 Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 do you guys learning the 5 heavy loop is necessary ? So far I have not found the need for it since sin does damage
RentalBlackout Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 It is useful in situations you do not have food meter. Additionally it builds quite a lot of meter, and sets you up perfectly for Voltec Deign setups, so I would argue that they are definitely worth learning.
