why do people need other games to get introduced to GG? can't they just, you know, play it and like it? IDK, I don't share GG with people other than those who already dabble with fighting games.

Blackgenma, i can understand your sentiment, but idk, with the little amount of guilty gear players, i try to get my friends into it...which results in fail. People get turned off when playing someone who can play guilty gear cuz it looks overwhelming. Thats kinda why only those dedicated enough to fighting games will get into guilty gear.

No one in Sacramento really plays GG. Everyone's all about SFIV and Tekken 6 now. Those games are good in their own way, but right now I've been mostly in the mood to play GG and BB against people, especially offline. The only other person I know in the area is Spirit Juice and I haven't met him yet. :( And don't know how GG can be hard at all when you first play it. I was having a ball when I first played Accent Core last year, then started playing Reload on PC for Netplay.

Its the basics that are easy. The inputs are universal. It's then learning combos into the specials or canceling specific moves at certain frames into a special that it becomes overwhelming. Its not a game where you can mash several buttons at once and land some lucky damaging combos. Your gonna pull off maybe a 55 dmg 6 string. And then the other more experienced player is gonna take out 30-50% lifebar. Not overwhelming whatsoever. Its also detrimental to the other persons pride because their gonna think "Oh, well, I suck at this game. I'm gonna go back to SF where I know how to do things." Which is why you have newbs play newbs. So they can all beat each other up without some sort of collateral damage in the process. Ary, your avi wouldnt happen to be the GensokyoGear screenshot would it?

I don't know. Just found it on Danbooru and thought it was funny because Reimu was doing a dustloop, ze. :kitty: Edit: okay, apparently there is something called Gensokyo Gear. Looking for it right now.

I'd actually like a teacher. The thing is, I'm no newb to fighting games, however, I have trouble sometimes in Guilty Gear. I mean, I know how to play and such, using barriers, bursting to get your tension up or to keep your opponent off your, and I can tell that the game is more or less combo orientated and how the damage scaling system works, but I can never seem to find any particular way to punish my opponent. My main character is Dizzy in Guilty Gear Accent Core (Plus). Can someone help me? I normally try to utilize her Okizime game (Still has trouble doing it as well as other people do) but only use her bnb combos while having trouble false roman cancelling her ice spike... Bleckh, I have to much to work on her with though.

IB throw, and read Dizzy Forum for specific match up

Did some of that. I know about the grabbing thing, the problem is though if you check the matchup section for Dizzy, there's not much to read. I mean, there's quite a bit at the top, however, going down the list... Some of them don't even have responses at all. It's just a bit annoying, cause I really like Guilty Gear and people are quitting the series for Blazblue and think "It's an upgraded version!" But that's not true at all. If anything, they're the opposite of each other. Guilty Gear - Guilty Gear is more chaotic and freeflowing. You worry more about dealing damage to your opponent in any way possible rather than just pulling off a combo. Of course, your major concern is performing a combo, but doing hits is good too (Most likely because of how the damage scales up if you keep hitting a blocking opponent). It's not organized, things kind of happen there and then and it's heptic. I won't say ANYTHING can happen in this game, but damned near. Blazblue - Blazblue is more combo based, you WANT to go for combos almost no matter what. Hitting them once or twice is good, but not as good as combos. It's easier to notice when to punish things and more set in stone and organized. This will happen if this happens and it's easier to comprehend. Plus, things are a tad bit slower and possibly less heptic. People say the characters are the same too, but not really by that much. The mechanics are just completely different from Guilty Gear. The characters might be somewhat similar in concept, but the game it's self is just more organized and straightforward. Not to mention that it's much easier to perform combos. Anyhow, I practice alot with my friend(s) (The reason I put that there is because I usually practice with one certain friend and play with my other friends). We choose different characters and such, but normally I don't learn too much because one of my friends is an obssessor and tries to take advantage of a characters certain abilities (Basically spamming it over and over again because he knows he can't be punished easily if he does it, or he just kind of times it well enough and just turtles).

ON GG the damage isn't scaling up when your guard bar is full btw, it only net you a CH and non prorated attack and the reason some match up was left out blank, probably because there's no member here has a REAL match up experience against specific character. Anyway, Dizzy main here... thought haven't been playing the games for about 3~4 months, if u explain your problem more specifically, maybe i can help and Nehle the Dizzy forum mods who plays a very good Dizzy often checking there >_>

I see... Thanks very much. No worries, I'm aware it isn't really "scaling up". I just say that because it's kind of what it is in a way. I think the correct terms are "Positive balance" and "Negative Balance". But does it really land you a Counter Hit when it's on positive balance? Well, either way though, you do a lot more damage because of it. But moving on, I'll have to ask him. I don't have as much experience with Guilty Gear, mainly because we (oddly enough) didn't play it much. (Me and my friends) Which is quite odd because even way before Blazblue came out, it was their favorite game. Maybe they thought I wouldn't like it or something, I have no idea : S Anyhow, I guess I'll ask around there. Thanks very much excelence.

You get CH on every hit while the guard gauge is blinking. The best way to get feedback is if you can record yourself playing, preferably vs real players.

I see... Kinda funny, that was quite a quick response and I didn't even ask yet XD. Anyhow, by what means would you recommend I record my matches? My brother has a camera, however, it's expensive... I'm not sure if he'd let me use it, plus, I'm not sure how I'd upload it to my computer. *Poor* But the real player thing wouldn't actually be too bad cause that's what I normally do. Anyhow, I guess I'll attempt to get myself recorded on video some way or another. Maybe my friend has something we could use "^^

As someone who just picked up Guilty Gear about a week ago and still learning the game, lemme just relate this to you all GG pros who are trying to convert people from a beginner's stand point. I play Hakumen in Blazblue, and had no previous experience with Guilty Gear. My friend told me to pick Slayer, and then told me about Big Bang Upper. EG: I should always be lookin to land that move. So basically, I been playing slayer and he feels like a much more badass version of Hakumen, with Big Bang Upper. Take that for what it's worth. (Tell your friends to Pick Slayer, and look to land Big Bang Upper, cuz it's fun.)

I think Hakumen is more like Robo Ky.

Haku is only like Robo-Ky in terms of meter usage. With hop and reliance on magatama number, he's more like Johnny with coins.

Yup. Johnny and Slayer in my opinion. - Hop, some long range moves. - Doesn't have links. There are combos with precise timing like Slayer's
