kro_ Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=226j7wDMx9I&feature=channel Starting from 4:18. Neither the combo nor setup make any sense to me. The 6b is unnecessary, the 5b 236a should be 3c 236a, and the 6a is unnecessary. His after-super setup is just a backdash pumpkin - no frog, no pole. He could have done {5b 5dcc 214a 3c 236a dash 632146c 214a 3c 236a 214b 3c 214a} and gotten +1.2k damage, more wind regen, and a pole+pumpkin+frog oki. I can't think of a single good reason to do what he did here. If you can, please explain (not trying to be an asshole or anything, I'm genuinely curious). Let's see. Adding in the 6b or the 6a doesn't really hurt the combo damage wise. Walk-up 5b 236a otg makes the pole land so that it stacks with the super. Dash up 3c 236a will oftentimes make the pole land offscreen when in the corner. I'm simply more comfortable doing 6a into super since it gives me something to use as a buffer for the super motion. And you could argue that the additional height gives you more time for wind regen, slightly more meter gain, and an easier time juggling the frog. I think he just screwed up his post-super setup.
metsuke Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 There's no need to do walk-up 5b because you can do 3c in place (no dash) and have the 236a land in exactly the right spot. 6b and 6a aren't a big deal either way; you get 2~4 more meter, stay on the ground for maybe a second longer, and lower your combo damage by anywhere from 500 to 800 damage. I think they're unnecessary, but each player has their own preference. Let's see. Adding in the 6b or the 6a doesn't really hurt the combo damage wise. kro_ Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 MSY (Rachel) vs Arakune http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm7786382 Haven't seen many Rachel vs Arakune matches in this thread so added this. Just 1 match. The others are Jin vs Carl and Ragna vs Tager.
metsuke Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Heh, MSY's gotten a lot better since we last saw him at GC (February, I think?). The more I see, the more I think a high j.2c (say, after air teching) is a Bad Idea.
Binh Mighty Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Copy and pasted from Versus City Blog Famitsu has created a special page for Tougeki, and has upped nine match vids for everyone to check out. You can find the page here, and then scroll down to find the vids. Three vids are from SF4, and have Daigo going up against Nuki, Mago and Iyo. I believe these may be the matches from the kumite that Arcadia magazine put together, because I checked Mago’s BP total (easiest to check) and it’s almost exactly the same when comparing the two vids. The other trio of vids are from 3rd Strike and see Boss going up against Rikimaru, Raoh vs. Rikimaru, and Raoh vs. Boss. Finally, the last trio of vids are from Blazblue and feature Ren vs. Inoue, Ren vs. Halloween, and Inoue vs. Halloween. http://www.famitsu.com/sp/tougeki2009/
ant12292 Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Halloween played very well. I loved the setup after the escape from the air throw at 2:25 that allowed him take the round back from Ren. Also, he was really taking advantage of any gaps Inoue's strings. If only Inoue didn't get out the corner in the last round or he had crossed Nu up with j.2C or something pushing her back into the frog.
Kurumster Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 The more I see, the more I think a high j.2c (say, after air teching) is a Bad Idea. It's terrible, as Rachel would say. Funny she has it D:
kro_ Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Side-switching lag is a killer. Keep throwing out 236b's instead of pumpkins.
Moogster Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Are there any vids for Eru' Rachel besides the 2 videos in youtube?
ihpsta Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 I put this in the search bar on nico: ブレイブル える which is Rachel eru and it might or might not be the same eru.
Bahamutz69 Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 is the first post actually gunna get updated? its kinda a bummer to have to look through the entire thread for vids also is the nicovideo confusing as nuts for anyone else?
Garamond Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 You need to register with Nico Nico before you can view anything. Google it and you should able to find some guides. If you're already registered and still confused that's probably normal because it's all in Japanese.
Soniti Posted August 21, 2009 Author Posted August 21, 2009 There is another thread (created by Zinac) which indexes important videos. This thread is for posting new videos and discussing posted videos.
Jakestation Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UBrqwGar7I&feature=PlayList&p=4DEBEE8CA022CC50&index=0&playnext=1 a few matches from our online ranking battle up here in scandinavia. those matches against tager are ok, those matches against ragna is horrible edit: MSY is playing in newest gamechariot matches, sweet stuff.
ant12292 Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 ぶーやん(No) vs. 黄色いカレー(Ra): http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm8022522 The player uses a cool midscreen combo to push the noel player into the corner (5B, 5CDC, 214B, 3D, j.B, j.C, land, dash, 5B, j.B, j.2C, j.C, land, 5B, 3C). The 3C ends up getting blocked in the match, but he is pushed far enough away that he has an oppurtunity summon a frog anyways.

The 3C ends up getting blocked in the match, but he is pushed far enough away that he has an oppurtunity summon a frog anyways. Cool combo, but I just confirmed that after the 214B, 3D... it's not an IAD, its just simply a j.B (wind pushes towards your target so it looked like a IAD) Does this combo only works on Jin and Noel? I haven't tried other characters yet.
ant12292 Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Thanks, fixed. I was thinking to myself jump foward. I have no clue why I put iad. I haven't tested it on anyone but Noel, though it seems like it would work on anyone the 5B, j.B hits on. So it would probably work on everyone but Arakune, Bang, Carl, Rachael, and maybe Tao. Ill check this for sure an update my post. Edit: After Testing, it actually only works on Jin, Litchi, Noel, Tager
wuku Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3smvIyFDzA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXiYo4a6jHY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ4m-9AgtxQ Veteru (Ragna) vs Me (Rachel) at the Pacific Northwest Major 2009. All of the matches might be recorded but only 3 of those are uploaded. (The others with the name of vet vs me 2,3 are wrong. they are john wu vs me.) Winner of this match was Veteru.
ant12292 Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Awesome stuff Wuku, especially in the first round of the first video.
prod1gy Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Aoi5RyOIXA I can never find many rachel players so i really dont get enough feedback on my play from players who play with her. I have a half decent rachel, so i asked kuru to record one of my matches which had to be against ssmugen (who is a beast if you didnt know >_>). Im trying to elevate my game with her so any kind of criticism like you suck, what i should work on or implement into my game are all welcome and would be appreciated.
Kurumster Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Starting the round with a 2c, obviously not a good idea. I'm not a fan of using wind for "movement", it's a waste of stock and using j2c from so far above is also not a good idea. Your hitconfirm, timing, spacing, zoning, and everything else under the sun need a lot of work. More blocking, less 2c, I'm guessing you haven't been "punished" enough to know how not so good it is. It looks more like you're pressing it when you're in danger rather than using it conservatively. Long story short. Play better players. I liked your matches Wuku.

He'd been kicking my ass allday so i kinda freestyled it and got away from how id normally play.
