Most people are singing praises for the RAP4 it feels like, some say it is better choice over TE2 overall just because of lower price but still good construction and parts.

You can also swap the buttons or stick too, and it still would be slightly cheaper than TE2's.

Has anyone ever ordered a fight stick from Nin Nin? I ordered my Hori 4 silent a week ago and they still haven't shipped it out.

I got the ebten GGXrd stick from them. Had difficulty paying until I switched to PayPal. Nice customer service. I have no complaints about them and I would order from them again. Other than shipping, I like the prices.

My only concern with the HRAP4 at the moment are the reports of somewhat severe lag (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kar0yRFAo8c), this is a very unscientific test, but still something to keep in mind.

Ā

After messing around with my HRAP v.4-s (same as that video's owner) I was completely unable to produce lag like that. Ā He likely had something else wrong with his setup. Ā I find it damning that he didn't specify anything about his environment (what he was connecting to, any intermediate equipment, monitor, etc). Ā There's no way that a simple chip setup like the board has could produce such an extreme delay in input register/transmit.

Ā

But Hori did terminate that version and the new versions seem like they'll be using a new board most likely so it definitely may have had problems. Ā It would still be a good recommendation to hold on and get one of the newer sticks (like the v4 Kai or a V5) instead.

Ā

The RAP v5 will be out on the 15th, amazon.jp preorders are up here:

The V4 discontinue is probably part of the reason why they are so hard to come by here too. Ā Hopefully we'll hear the V5 announced for other regions soon.

I encourage you to go back and watch the video again then, because the model number for his TV is right across the middle of the video (REGZA 55Z8). Going to assume he is playing the new Gradius port on PS4 with the V4, and that's about as in depth as his test is.

like I said though, it's something to keep in mind and not an absolute test (Nor do I have any first hand proof). But considering we have a community who's gobbling up a lag test where the +/-0 isn't actually 0 (but rather x where x has not been solved) who gives a damn about actual numbers or legitimate test :vĀ

So the TV model but not what mode settings.

Ā

Lag that bad though, that's not the PCB, that's something else. Ā I call complete shenanigans on that video. Ā Something else is wrong with his setup.

I've had my v4 for a few months without problems. That kind of lag seems extreme - I definitely would've noticed by now

Hello Dustloopers!

I'm from Sweden and have been into fighting games casually since SF4 came back in the days. By casual I mean playing EVERY fighting game that caught my eye at the time so I have average experience of KoF13, Injustice, SFxT(a shame what they did with this title), Tekken Tag 2 and have been a way more dedicated SSF4, SCV and UMvC3 player. 3 days ago I felt the urge to try GG Xrd so I bought it with my US account and damn! What a game, I love fighting games wich rewards you for being aggresive and punishes you for being passive. I was psyched to get a stick and get into this game, what I didn't know was this ass situation with PS4 sticks..

My first stick was one of those madcatz SF4 sticks wich I swapped the original parts with sanwa stuff(didn't know anything back then, a friend just told me it would be better), had minor problems witch some kick button. From there I went to a Tournament Edition wich I loved, superb stick! After going to Japan for a while I really got the taste for the arcade feel wich ended up with me getting two SFXT VS editions and put them up on a table in my living room, also wonderful sticks.

I'm not an experienced modders, I can work my way around switching sticks and buttons but this whole PCB thing is probably out of my reach. I really want a stick and the only two options seems to be preordering a MC TE2 wich doesn't come around until April, or preordering the Hori Hayabusa V4 Kai for late February. Now I have no experience of the Hayabusa stick or the kuro buttons but from what I've read on this forum the kuro buttons aren't that favored compared to sanwa yet the Hayabusa stick is praised above the ones that Madcatz use(is it JLF or something?). A Madcatz stick is really easy to mod yet would the Hayabusa fit? and can you replace the Kuro buttons on the Hori stick with sanwa buttons? Also I got long arms and read someones post here that the Hori stick is a bit to close to the buttons :( Anyone who can give me some deep insight into this issue? Thanks!

Just bought a PS4 Madcatz grey version of the TE2, it went out of stock right after but they still seem to have the yellow version and the USF4 one. They were not in stock this morning in case someone is looking. Where would a good place to order a Hayabusa stick be if you live in Europe?

You could try Amazon or PlayAsia. I was looking for the Hayabusa stick for awhile but it seems pretty hard to come by in the western world.

Time for a wonderful trip to Japan just to buy an arcade stick, lol.

I've tested the HRAP4 and a few other PS4 sticks using GGXrd, and the results are not that bad for any PS4 stick out there (5 ms delay at worst, or about 1/3 of a frame). Ā Keep in mind this is the incremental extra input delay caused by a stick (scored vs the best alternative), not the total delay of the entire setup (console+TV+stick+game).

Pre-order is possible here:

If it doesn't work because of being a mobile site: Amazon Germany lists the Hori Rap 4 Kai for 149.90 euros. Available from the 13th of March. It's equipped with Hayabusa/Kuro.

its Hayabusa lever. A lot of people say it's better than Sanwa but I have yet to test one myself.

Ā

Dunno if this has been addressed or not, but I'll share my experience between both. Ā I find the Sanwa and Hayabusa to be equally as responsive, and both feel good. Ā I don't notice any difference from a 'quality' standpoint.

Ā

However, one major difference I did notice that right out of the box, the Hayabusa feels much 'softer'. Ā The stick feels very free. Ā I notice much more tension on the Sanwa. Ā This makes me prefer the Sanwa because I'm slightly more heavy handed when playing than most probably are, and I feel like I'm beating the Hayabusa to pieces unnecessarily. Ā I also notice that holding one direction and releasing to neutral can cause the Hayabusa to snap back in the opposite direction and register a back input due to how 'loose' the stick feels.

Ā

For me that's something to consider. Ā I think it comes down to preference, and even tho I prefer the Sanwa, I can't objectively say either is better. Ā Both are great.

Posted

I can finally throw my two cents in about the Hayabusa, now that I own one, and I've put a bit of time in with a friends.Ā

It does feel fairly similar to the JLF, when I stopped trying to spot differences everything just sorta fell into place. Spring tension in my particular one feels about the same as a JLF, but the switches are definitely louder and offer a bit more resistance.Ā
Ā

The biggest thing to me is this stick is really loud to me. hitting the gate is much louder than hitting it on a Sanwa.

Bottom line for me is- I don't dislike the stick. It feels comparable to a JLF. I don't think i'd go out of my way to replace it with a JLF, or a JLF with it. I'm curious how long the stick will last before I need to replace parts.

<edit> I can also safely say that the HRAPV4 has not shown me any of the day one reports of lag. Good shit on Hori for fixing the stupid door too.Ā

Posted

That's actually fairly interesting, because I specifically thought the Hayabusa's switches were too soft and switched back to a JLF as a result.

The main differences people will probably get thrown off by are the actuation and throw distances, though. The actuation point is a little shorter than a JLF's, and the throw distance is a bit longer, which can feel pretty strange if you're not used to it.

What did Hori do to the door? That thing's been a nuisance forever.

Posted

There are two key changes to that door, for starters it now has two clasps on the sides that hold it in place while closed. but it's easier to open still. Secondly the door no longer falls off the second you look at it. I haven't tried popping it off yet, but it hasn't fallen off yet under normal use.

Are the Hayabusa sticks easy to replace with Sanwa? Does it require any soldering?

Ā

I really want to get a HORI stick because I like the L3 and R3 buttons that MadCatz don't have, but based on what I have used I prefer Sanwa sticks.

Posted

I don't need to do anything special to mount it? Just unscrew the one that's there and screw the new plate in?

Posted

Just screws and a wire harness you unplug and plugin

I personally think the Hayabusa is a lot better than the Sanwa JLF, try it out for a week or two you might like it more.
