MISTER_BUSH1D0 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 I've actually been playing a guy on US West Coast from EC and only been getting 4f delay. The netcode is actually amazing, just seems lke some people are having issues with specific things. And yeah, he's JP and I'm US. Ur on right is gg playable online and is bbcp dead online should i get ggxrd sry to bother you like this but i gotta choose fast
Antitidus Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Is bbcp dead online or should i go straight to ggxrd Neither of them are dead, just pick whichever one you prefer. One is not better than the other. They're both great fighting games. If I really had to say though, just pick GG because is more recent, that's all.

Grimsley-San Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Is bbcp dead online or should i go straight to ggxrd It's your choice, most of us went to Xrd because we want to wait for the new version to come out.

Thats true but xrd for me seems lacking in characters to me i would only play chip sol ky sin venom while in bb i would use terumi azrael hazama ragna jin kagura and is the gameplay the same as bb ? If so its ok ill take gg but shame i dont have extra cash for chars in gg its a hastle for me to get us psn cards in europe

Guilty Gear is more fun in my opinion and has alot more mechanics wise.

Are the overdrive moves or supers usable in combos thats what i liked in bb to but gues ill get em both its only a delay of a few days so xd
Alkipot Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Are the overdrive moves or supers usable in combos thats what i liked in bb to but gues ill get em both its only a delay of a few days so xd They are, but I find most people use them for wakeup attacks and save the meter for RCs.

SoulGuitarist Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Aaw i was looking forword to sols demon mode and that flame punch thing since i like comboing into supers in games like bb its easy As Akipot said, You can but it's better to save the meter for RCs. In GG, Any slip up can leave you wide open to massive damage. Using the RC to escape or gain your space is better. Also, I honestly never use my overdrive unless if I want to get in or if the opponent is low on health during a combo. (Ky player here.) It's much better to save for RCs to extend combos or when you catch yourself mess up.

SoulGuitarist Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 Is it super punishable ?planning on maining sol maybe well play sometime The giant punch thing? Very punishable on block. Even more punishable on netplay sometimes. Lol
MISTER_BUSH1D0 Posted January 7, 2015 Posted January 7, 2015 The giant punch thing? Very punishable on block. Even more punishable on netplay sometimes. Lol Even if do it in demon mode from afar when it shoots the fireball ? And is the netcode super bad sorry for the questions
SoulGuitarist Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Even if do it in demon mode from afar when it shoots the fireball ? And is the netcode super bad sorry for the questions I don't really know as I play Ky and not Sol but from the ones I fought, if at a distance when doing the dragon install version, it's safe but if they jump, get up close and only the last few frames of the overdrive hits on block, then you can be punished. The netcode is very solid. I usually only get 4-5 frame delay against Japan (From east coast). It's alot better than BBCP's netcode in my opinion but that doesn't mean GGxrd netcode is flawless. It has it's ups and downs but when you compare it to other fighters, it's pretty good netcode.

It's around where UNIELs was but the game itself doesn't work as well in lag. PS4 version is noticeably more stable so make sure to get that one.
lacey Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 So do you guys practice with delay on or something? I'm used to GGPO for netplay, and even that is pretty bad due to takebacks screwing up your positioning. XRD is something else though. I'm amazed at how hard it is just to move around with input delay. What do you recommend to be able to play in this? It feels like my character's feet are encased in concrete.
ShinsoBEAM Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Just play some more, I have no problems moving around even in 10-11F of lag as long as it's consistent. You just have to trust your fingers and your timing and not rely on visual/audio cues. Now if your trying to backdash or DP on wakeup online...yeah well good luck with that.

I was referring more to things like reacting to your opponent, anti-airing, throwing bad setups etc. I feel like I'm getting attacked with weak rushdown but I'm having a ton of trouble breaking out because my reactions just feel way too slow. Is that how online is played? Should I just focus on throwing all my offense at the other player an not bother reacting to their attacks?
timmytaplands Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 +R on Ringedge 2 is most likely 4 frames native delay, given how people complained about additional input lag and how Arcsys slowed down reactable moves (dusts and other overheads) by 2F universally to compensate for the increase from delay 2. 4F input delay is common to the great majority of PS3/360/TaitoX2 fighters like the SF4 series, BB series, KoF13, etc, so this makes the most sense. AC versions have been tested here: http://www.dustloop.com/forums/index.php?/topic/6004-ggxxac-input-lag-testing-results/ Xrd delay is unknown at this point. As soon as my PS4 copy gets in, I'm running tests on PS3/PS4 versions of Xrd using arcade sticks. I did a crude test using a dual shock 4 pad which showed 4F delay: Wait, so this means even on a lagless monitor I'm getting a 4frame input delay? I'm surprised the response to this is so understated. That's unacceptable.. that means when factoring in monitor lag and netplay, I could easily be playing with 6-8 frames of input delay. That sucks.

Since that's how every single game works, does that really matter?
timmytaplands Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Since that's how every single game works, does that really matter? Not sure what you mean. A 4f offline input delay is bad compared to other Guilty Gear games, let alone other fighting games. To me that says people should be complaining less about the game's netcode and more about Arcsys getting their shit together to create a responsive port. I guess I'll wait for Teyah to finish testing
GaijinMo Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Both CPS2 and CPS3 (and by extension, any good fighting game Capcom ever made) have a 4F delay too. And that's from a cab running a CRT, not emulation. What delay did older GG games have? I'm not aware of measurements from other series but I've always been under the impression that 4F is fairly typical.
Ctrlaltwtf Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 There is no way this game has a native 8F delay or something like that. Every person I've played with on a good connection is totally playable. Usually sitting around 2~3F delay It works fine with good connections it's bad with bad connections. It's a videogame on the internet. Play online, have fun, learn matchups, practice stuff. Go to offline casuals and tournaments and apply your tech where it really matters [and meet new people, too].
