A.X.I.S. Posted January 24, 2010 Posted January 24, 2010 in the link it says ax1Z...which sounds like 1337 way of saying axis.
mAc Chaos Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Oh man Leonil, I love your 2D combo. I'm almost able to 2D Tager's 2D on reaction now and have been doing that combo afterwards. Although I still love the feeling when hitting with Shippu. Also you guys went over so many combos in that combo thread, it's impossible to keep track of any. #_# I'll have to sit down one day and just look over them. *brain bursts*
A.X.I.S. Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 fun fact, if tager IB's any of haku's pokes he eats a free punish in most cases...i noticed in that vid if that tager was quick on IB punishes, leonil would have some problems. see this is why me and leonil need to record our matches, we both are just dicks to each other online and ofline.
A.X.I.S. Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 yes i tested it, the only thing i can't IB punish is 236A>214B it just comes out way too fast. so every ground poke+IB equal fucked in the air to ground i can IB it and if you use tsubaki/hotaru imediately my 360A will make it wiff, sadly my 360 wiff's too. air to air i can elbow or air throw if you have no meter to follow up with.

I can always copy/paste my own combo file, and you can use that if you want.

ryokoalways Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 What the hell were you doing? Do you not know this match-up?
BladeOfJustice7 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I was hoping to get your advice not outright flame me >_> Yea I know it pretty well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZq3N5GLlxI I was trying to play more of a defensive game. I can get my wins against noel but not without eating a chain revolver combo. I figured the best course of action was to play defensively, didn't work out so well. Anyways advice? More precisely any attacks I should/shouldn't do?
Slayer Alucard Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I have some advice, stop trying to use drive on wake-up when he's not even near you. Don't 3C all the time too.
ryokoalways Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 For starters don't just stand there. You weren't playing defensive, you were playing 100% passive. You should never play passive. Basically what happened was your opponent did whatever he wanted because you weren't applying pressure on him just by adjusting your position and going to safe empty reads. At about 1.5 character length it's best to just play by reaction. Noel beats hakumen fairly cleanly on most options at this range. The noel was in the air often and had really bad approach positions almost every time. Get in a good position, and mix 6A, dp, air throw, ground throw, feints, etc. Don't give them free jump ins. There is nothing wrong with eating a combo. I don't know why you'd reason that defensive is good idea because you may eat a combo. I don't get the reason at all. You need to work on defense. Considering the Noel didn't have set-up of any type, you shouldn't fall for 6B on wake-up, twice. Not to mention that Noel's pressure was very weak. Stop doing 5C on their run in. More A and B moves. Figure out when to do them by watching JP vids. Considering that it doesn't look like you know how to control distances atm, it's a good idea to work on safe fundamentals first. Your usage of catch is incorrect. Don't fish for random hits. Either catch after IB, or bait something to catch. Don't worry about IB too much since it's online, just remember not to randomly stick out catch. hit confirm better. I don't have much I can comment on considering you weren't doing anything. Again, never play completely passive. There is a difference between defensive and passive. And the other important thing is to know the purpose of each of your moves. It doesn't look like you know when to use what move (both normals and specials)
Sophisticat Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Yeeouch. Okay, so that didn't go so well. First thing to come to mind, though: good job on the hop hotaru. You've gotten around to those, eh? I'll admit I don't know where to start... I'm guessing you haven't played that many good Noels? I'll just say playing defensive doesn't mean staying put. You can generate pressure just walking forward. Don't use 5c on Noel if she's running at you, 3c is better. You also got caught by air throws at obvious moments, tech those. I'll re-watch because there isn't much more I can go off of. EDIT: What Ryoko said. In fairness, I think you just chose the wrong stance to take against this guy. The way I deal with Noel is to punish her offense since I'm not good at pressuring her. I can block her mix-ups, so I can do so pretty safely. This sounds like the defensive option you wanted to use in this case, so maybe you can go with that instead.
ryokoalways Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Don't use 5c on Noel if she's running at you, 3c is better. Don't use either of those moves if Noel is running at you.
mAc Chaos Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 SCRUB!!!!!!!!! GET OFF DUSTLOOP!!!!! Yeah, I have some matches where I just get a train ran over me from her attacks. :P One thing I would have done is IAD after her whenever she fired her gun at you. She's usually open when she does that and even if she recovers in time you can still get in on her. I was impressed by the hotaru though, that was pretty fast. I can only do that if I specifically stop what I'm doing and think, "OK... I'm going to hop now and..."
mAc Chaos Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Also as for playing defensively, I don't think you actually WERE trying to. The entire first round you kept eating more combos, I think it was because you were trying to mash out in between. If you just held out through it you could have made it through. And you were doing well in the beginning when you were taking the fight to him. I think you would have maybe won if you went offensive instead. Can't be stuck in mixup if you're the one attacking! Wait I was watching the match against DJ Magic Marco. What I said still stands though. :P I'll have to actually play DC to see his style... then it'll be easier for me to give advice.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 K good advice thanks, not one of my best matches though oh well. I guess I'll stick my 60% offense against noel (getting the occasional shot in the face isn't fun >_<).
Sophisticat Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Okay, I went back several pages and dug stuff up: Ryoko on Noel. Posts around and before this one seem to have lots of Noel talk, so check e'm out. Ryoko's Noel matches. That's what I wanted to find. Time to study!
BladeOfJustice7 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Yea I couldn't really find viable haku v.s noel unlike the rest of the cast, 0 got raped by r-1 in ct =/... Thanks Sophis ^_^ EDIT: Wow ryoko I didn't realize you were an expert, I'll be studying your matches and how you apply your offense, the hoping is a very good mind game since it can lead to either tsubaki or hotaru. Gonna mirror some of this, have you had the chance to play cs yet ryoko?
mAc Chaos Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Hmm, in the fourth video Ryoko you did something that confuses me. You got a grab on that Noel twice, and you had a ton of meter, but you just let her go after Gurren. You could have done Shippu or a j.C loop, why didn't you? If you remember that is. :P http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfPYyLUwAtA#t=0m37s I hate seeing grabs go to waste. I like your corner combo though... I'm swipin' dat goodness. grab -> gurren -> 2C -> j.2C -> falling j.C -> 5C -> gurren -> 6B Leaves you right next to her on wakeup too...
ryokoalways Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I think I just screwed up the corner combo iirc. I was trying to get a set-up by knockdown via j2C. It just didn't come out. And I always go for knockdown in the corner unless I'm going for the kill. Hakumen has a good mix-up game. He just can't sustain it.
A.X.I.S. Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 ryoko you just motivated me to play haku-men more seriously, that was the best game i ever seen, especially when you used your hops to position you and your opponent away from the corner, you even played some mind games. need to write this shit down.
FullAutoDeath Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Seriously, I really need to shape up my scrubby Hakumen. *Writes/watches as well*
ryokoalways Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 have you had the chance to play cs yet ryoko? No. Information I get and ideas I have result from asking around or just reading people's opinion. Everything else you can just pick up from watching vids.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Happy early st. valentines to hakumen players :] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLX4uZIB0rM
FullAutoDeath Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Happy early st. valentines to hakumen players :] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLX4uZIB0rM From the comment I made on the vid: A lot of those supers could have just been Instant Blocked for huge meter gain. Countering Carl's is pretty good though, as it can be annoying to be crossed and mixed up at the same time. Maybe Litchi too if she's giving you some pretty heavy corner pressure.
