From Novril & Specs; the makers that brought you the wonderful Guilty Bits series comes Airdash Academy, a collaborative effort between the members of Dustloop, Homingcancel, and MeltyBread forums. This new series is all about understanding the fundamentals and underlying principles of Airdash Games (Anime) and how this knowledge can even be put to use in titles outside of the genre. Hit the jump to see more about this exiting and ambitious new series!

Episode 1 is all about starting points and the mentality one might take in approaching a new fighter, regardless of specific genre. If you like where the series is headed and want to see more and/or contribute directly, be sure to subscribe to Novril's YouTube page and follow them on Twitter!

Just wanna give everyone a quick rundown on what's up with Dustloop after the move to IP.Board.

NEW STUFF
Avatar dimensions upgraded: 160x160px, 200kb. This is a big boost from the old board, don't abuse it.
Chat. We've added a basic chat room to the top menu. Nothing fancy, moving on.
Profile cards. These are visible when you hover over someone's name on a post. See crude diagram below.

1. Hover over a user's name to see their card.
2. This text can be changed by clicking your account name at the top-right and filling out the "What's on your mind?" box.STUFF THAT DOESN'T QUITE WORK YET
Any subscriptions you had before the move DID NOT carry over! We're sorry about that.
Groups are currently gone. We're working on bringing that functionality back.
Selectable themes will be coming once everything else gets settled.
WHAT DO I DO IF SOMETHING LOOKS WEIRD?
[*]Report it in the Site Feedback and Suggestions board.
[*]If you'd rather use Twitter, contact myself (@Circuitous), @shtkn, or @Kurushii.

We appreciate your patience as we finalize the move. We would've preferred to have it all handled by now, but with BBCP 1.1 in the wild, we felt it better to have any Dustloop than wait for a perfect one.

Hi everyone, we are planning to migrate from vBulletin to IP.Board this week. I hope you all remember your passwords and your email addresses still work. I will make an announcement once we get more details from our migration services team and will lock the forums once we start moving. The old fourms will also go down for a while as well.

In theory all content should be carried over, but some things may not display correctly. Please let us know if anything seems amiss once we move. Also, the wiki should be up and running the entire time.

UPDATE: The migration services team has informed me that we will be moving on March 17th (next Monday). I guess this week was a little too ambitious.

Today, Aksys Games announced that BlazBlue creator Toshimichi Mori will be in attendance at SoCal Regionals 2014 promoting BlazBlue: Chronophantasma! Mori will be doing a meet & greet and signing session at some point during the weekend of SCR. Additionally, I'll be having him come onto my stream to do a Q&A, talking about topics and answering some questions submitted by fans using the #ASWMoriSCR2014 hashtag. If you have a burning desire to ask Mori something, please don't hesitate to submit a question!

Lastly, the BBCP Pools have been announced! They are posted below:

Due to circumstances, there's a number of slots left in the bracket. Although preregistration is closed, on-site registration will be opening on Thursday at 3PM and will remain open until 10PM. Spots are limited, so if you need to register it behooves you to show up early! In any case, preregistration numbers for BlazBlue have been very good and Aksys Games has thrown in a pot bonus of $500. With the current entrants, this means first place will award a minimum of approximately $900!

Aksys Games to support SoCal Regionals!

By Guest, in Home,

Level Up and Aksys Games just announced that Aksys Games will be present at SoCal Regionals and will be providing a pot bonus of $500 for the tournament. This comes on the tailwind of SCR lifting the cap for the tournament from 64 entrants to 128, due to a large number of people pre-registering. The last update from Alex Valle put the current number of pre-registered entrants for BBCP at 78. Make sure to pre-register to secure your position now!

Additionally, there are currently rumors of a special guest making an appearance at SCR. Stay tuned to the announcements for SCR and BlazBlue for more details shortly!

SCR takes place only a few weeks before the release of BBCP in North America! BlazBlue: Chronophantasma will be releasing on March 25th, 2014.

Arc System Works' title update to Blazblue: ChronoPhantasma, which includes the three previously console exclusive characters: Yuuki=Terumi, Kagura=Mutsuki and Kokonoe; as well as balance tweaks and adjustments to the entire cast (including the aforementioned three), is set for a March Arcade release in Japan, with the character balance tweaks coming to PS Vita in April and finally to home consoles (PS3 exclusive) in May. In the meantime Arc has released a HUGE changelist on their official website for everyone to gawk over.

The Update has also been announced to be playable at this weekend's JAEPO 2014 by Toshimichi Mori himself via Twitter. Check out the specific change log details for all characters after the jump. [PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]

The Opening Movie for Guilty Gear Xrd has gone live, and it is shaping up to be an amazing ride! Possible new playable characters are introduced (extensively or briefly) in the video; including Ramletherl Valentine as a possible last boss, and Famitsu has detailed some of the playable game modes that will be available at the start when the game goes live sometime this February. So enough already with this text already, check it out after the jump and head over to the forums after to discuss!

    • I definitely had to build a lot of muscle memory but also hand strength in my left hand. I don't play WASD keyboard movement games so when I was first starting on leverless I literally did not have the hand strength to consistently move my fingers quickly for motions, and my hand got tired easily. That took some getting used to.   I've been on leverless for ~3 years now, and although there's still quite a lot of stuff I'm better at on stick (which I played on for 14 years, so it would be surprising if I could close the gap quickly!) I generally prefer it overall and can do most of my stuff equally well or better. The only thing I really struggle with is very fast and clean half circle motions.   I play on an ergonomic ver~l leverless controller now. It's the most comfortable controller I've ever used, and is much easier on my aging hands than anything else I've used. I still play some games on stick but I very strongly prefer my vertical leverless for most stuff.
    • I had actually made a thread about D&B on the Shmups.System11 Forums a while back, but nobody responded.   I actually do not own this game as of yet but it looks interesting and has some connections to Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, so I thought it might be fun discussing it as a topic.   I technically disagree with Ishiwatari’s view that Azure Grimoire and the Tome of Origin are the same book, but from a creative non-lore standpoint I guess you could say they are similar.   Someone also pointed out “William” who seems to share a similar hobby to Axl Low.   An interview with Ishiwatari seems to suggest that his writing is based on a “possible past” and a “possible future” and that D&B is set in the former (with GG’s plot I assume as the latter).   Anyway just think of this as a catch all thread for Damon & Baby!
    • some doodles from the other month about trying to play fighting games with social anxiety lol   --------------------       --------------------     --------------------
