Lord Knight has begun a video series with some discussion about more advanced fighting game theory. In this episode, Lord Knight talks about reading opponents, the risks associated with this, and how to minimize that risk. He also covers player habits and consistent behavior between different players of the same character. It's a good watch for those who wondering how to go about making a game plan and modifying that to adapt during a match.

EDIT: Famitsu's website has updated with even more info on Kokonoe, and the folk's over at Shoryuken.com have done a lengthy piece which includes translated descriptions of her special moves/distortions/drive and that ever so awesome dash of hers. Be sure to check it out and stay tuned as info on the now 3 new console characters playable at TGS (Kagura, Terumi, Kokonoe) comes in [PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]

News has come in from Famitsu that longtime fan favorite Kokonoe the half-human/half-beast daughter of Jubei and Konoe will be indeed playable in the upcoming Playstation 3 release of Blazblue: Chrono Phantasma. Kokonoe will be included as downloadable content once the October 24th Japanese release is secured. A more in-depth article with plenty of juicy information will be made available once the 9/26/2013 issue of Famitsu is available at newsstands throughout Japan. In the mean while, check out Kokonoe's character profile, fighting style notes and more pics after the jump!

Kokonoe (voice: Matsuura Chie)

According to Famitsu, Kokonoe's fighting style includes a mixture of speed, power, scientific/mechanical gadgetry and magic used to overwhelm her opponents. While that combination does sound daunting, all eyes will be focused to see just how she plays out on screen and in action once October rolls around.

Here are some images in the mean time to get wet to...

2D Fighting Game Glossary by HyperMarth

By Guest, in Home,

HyperMarth has created a glossary on YouTube that briefly defines the terms used in 2D fighters. Such examples discussed are; offense, defense, frames, combos and commonly used community terms. There's a ton of information in this glossary that breaks down a lot of things with their own sections, to can benefit those starting in the 2D realm of fighters. This glossary can be used as a brief refresher for those that haven’t played 2D fighters in awhile and those that may need to brush up on a few terms.

*Note - Some terms could be described in great detail; this glossary is a short definition with visual aid to help easier understand what is being described. Also remember that in fighting games there are a lot of exceptions depending on the character and game.

The video mostly focuses on how to use boost and airturn together in pressure, and includes a number of good set ups like non-Orgia j.2B fuzzy guard and how to pull opponents out of the corner. Make sure you check it out after the jump.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]

Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- Arcade Release Window

By Guest, in Home,

Today, staff of Osaka's KO-HATSU Game Center announced that Guilty Gear Xrd would be arriving at Japanese arcades in spring of 2014. The game will utilize Sega's ALL.Net P-ras MULTI network, the same used for Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH, and Phantom Breaker: Another Code. Sega's ALL.Net is a competitor to Taito’s NESiCAxLIVE service, which is used for BlazBlue: Chronophantasma in Japan.

This news comes only a few weeks after the conclusion of the loketest at the Sega building in Akihibara. Although the day and month of release have still not been given, a spring release will allow for BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma's console release to thrive for a little while before Xrd releases. All that remains to be seen is an arcade release date for Persona 4 P-1 Climax. Although I personally doubt that Arc System Works would allow this happen, the P4C loketest means that it should also be ready for arcade release sometime in the next year and could result in overlap between the release of P4C and the early lifespan of Xrd in arcades. However, ASW is usually good at spacing their releases out, so this is unlikely to occur.
