San Diego's thread of meetups every Friday Night at SD Saltmines
shtkn replied to shtkn's topic in West Coast
ok. see you guys tonight -
she sounds a bit different or my memory of her is fuzzy. i thought she had a slightly deeper voice in p3?
-
i'm down, just not this coming weekend (unless you're willing to drive down)
-
i didn't create hte program taht extracts the hitboxes, someone who afaik wishes to remain anonymous did the main work (if this is not the case mr./mrs. anonymous, please let me know). i only did some minor cleanup work and got them online. not all hitboxes are shown and not all hitboxes were properly extracted so there may be errors in what we're showing.

i'll be there too -
yeah, she like... low profiles the first hit or something, it's funky
-
why did you ask me about being a noel mod if you don't give a shit?
-
they sound a bit weird in the trailer, but they're also saying things that are out of character... sister complex is "only natural" yu? i bet they're shadows or something distorted.

combo ender, reversal

i've always wanted to try that nap-a-lot-and-don't-sleep idea, but i was always afraid of side effects... how's it working out for you? getting more waking hours each day? -
haha, yep. though the first crossover is obviously a bad place to stop since you're cornering yourself for free. you could also IAD j.236D for a fake third crossup i'm really excited to try this stuff out, but we'll see if i can get the execution for it down. i had some problems in training mode getting the IAD 100% of the time, so i need to grind it out i guess
-
so i think i just found out an awesome new corner mixup off 3C > 214A, but it requires that they neutral tech: 3C > 214A > run under (you're in the corner) > they neutral tech > run under 2A (you're out of hte corner) > iad j.2C depending on how long you wait before you 2A, you will crossup when you j.2C or you will stay on the same side. to get it to crossup, you need to push them out of hte corner more before you cross under, to get hte fake crossup, you run into them less. please try it out and let me know if it works for you guys. i only discovered this last night in training mode and didn't get to try it out on any real ppl
-
ive experimented with a variation of this in training mode where you get the opponent to block a jump-in, then jump cancel and go into a j.214D immediately like you described. i've only messed with this in training mode, so the utility of this is untested, but if ain's prison is usable in a match, then maybe my trick can be applied too haha.
-
perhaps that's a dash cancel?
-
just a note, that the changes listed in the character's pages are not it. for example, ky's vapor thrust followup only wallsticks instead of wallbounces in teh video and that's not mentioned in his char page. edit: oh wait, nm, that change is listed, ky got a new lightnig javelin with S that i guess wall sticks? i assume the old one is still there
-
i think they mention changes in the character pages, but we need translators. so far ky has a new comand normal 3H+S and a new forcebreak in 214D (super greed sever lol). guess we'll see how it goes

seriously, if you can't use training mode in bb to test stuff by yourself, then you're losing such an important tool. trust me, training modes in most other games are shit compared to the ones in bb/gg. the record/playback feature in bb is great! Multiple record/playback slots + random playback allows you to practice blocking versus enemy blockstrings, neutral game stuff, etc. it's amazing. ppl colloquially call the training mode the lab because it's so much more than just practicing combos. it's where you go to experiment with setups, defense, etc. keep getting hit by certain attack? record it, experiment and try to figure out counters. can't block an overhead? record a blockstring that have the overhead and one without, set the playback to random, and practice blocking

learn the good combos so you get 50 meter + knockdown + magnetism off each touch. then steamroll them -
lol it's not intentional, i'm just lazy. same reason why i almost never capitalize letters
-
for those kinds of dashes, take advantage of hte advanced input for dashes. just input hte dash a few frames before you recover, then input hte attack. probably will still take some practice, but it definitely makes this kind of stuff easier

there was one guy on the facebook group who was asking if anyone was in clairemont, but also said he wasn't interested till ac re-release and p4arena show up. is that hte same guy? anyways, yeah just point him in my direction and we can work something out. also, i'm probably not going to show up tomorrow night for box anyways, i need a break from tuesday+friday+weekend sessions once in a while. i'll still be showing up fri night tho. -
yeah, the more i see this the more i think we need to modify the wiki to show a few standard combos depending on the situation, and point to this thread for a more comprehensive list so it's less work for ppl haha.
