Just curious about this part. How does this OS work and what part does 5D play in it?
-
Yeah, really old info in OP. 6B / 3C are ways you can hit him out of it but, just as TD mentioned, very risky. Often times you will see wyvern used as a reaction punish tool vs Rachel's pumpkin summon

I treat Kagura j.C like Hakumen j.B. It's hard to contest it and at best you will trade :V

Thinking of starting a San Antonio TX lobby as a regular thing. It won't be streamed but I'll leave it open. 3 people at a time so that rotation is easy. I will open the lobby at 10 PM and leave it on until 6 AM the next day.

Remember, there is more than one way to win a match. Once I realized this, Carl and some other match-ups became a little bit easier.

Oh yeah. This Saturday is Curleh Mustache @ UltraArcade. Going to be packed lol.

This week. I won't make it this time though. Gotta work.

The ranbats take place on Friday next week. But I'm down for Monday casuals. EDIT: https://twitter.com/glidesu/status/472134404173594624

Oh so they decided on MvC2 for the bonus entry? I was hoping for some CvS2 lol :<
-
Need more offline sessions outside of ranbats.
-
Next Ranbat is tomorrow! Does UltraArcade have version 1.1 patch already applied?
-
Just speculating but I think regarding online IDs, the top 3 from last ranbat are: dallas - The54Card Zed - Zegapein Nirage - Nirage22 Good stuff coming out to play. Next ranbat is this Friday. More than likely I will be there.

I think the best advice hasn't been mentioned yet. Save a replay. Reflect and make adjustments. Repeat. Why? If you reflect on your play you can identify the problems with a real example in front of you. There is no need to practice "combos" in a generic sense. A really efficient way is to watch a replay and identify where you could not hitconfirm or complete a combo and practice those directly. By isolating the problems into single pieces it's easier to see where you need to progress. This is what is called deliberate practice. If you review your matches you can identify why "nothing" ever seems to end up working or why "combos don't come out". If you do not have an example to work from you are attempting to improve with a blindfold on. So, my advice is to take things slow. Do not try to learn everything at once. It is better to work on aspects of your game one at a time and work from there. tl;dr: Watch a replay of yourself. For reference, some months ago I had written a small article about learning fighting games from a "not-quite-top-player" perspective. I had wanted to share with some co-workers what was involved since they don't play fighting games or anything competitive so yeah lol http://hst.pestermom.com/fg/improve.html

Disjointed notes about Valkenhayn v. Rachel: This match-up is really heavy on neutral. As a Rachel player going against Valkenhayn, I have no qualms about sitting back and waiting for you to approach me. In wolf you can threaten just by moving forward. Using wolf braking + hopping there are many ways to make Rachel whiff trying to zone you out. Experiment and find out the different angles you can create with/without wolf. Once you make Rachel whiff *something*, punish hard and never let up. I believe in wolf form you cannot block. So at 50+ heat Rachel has access to Tempest Dahlia. TD is the panic button for Rachel but you can easily jump over it or use super invuln at a certain distance. If you are the receiving end of pressure, good luck. You definitely don't want to get put into the corner. If you have to burst, I think the best time to do that against Rachel is when she has 0 wind. I'll get a proper match-up post up soon for Rachel boards so I will cross-post stuff when I get the time. Happy Rachel fighting.
