  2. I am not 100% certain of what you are asking. If you mean how do you get IOH to land so you can get a combo off of it, usually you confirm opponent is blocking and stick in IOH j.A. After that, depending on your resources and distance from opponent, you can go for either 5CC or 3C knockdown. Ending in 3C is generally safe. Depends on match-up / distance you get pushed from getting blocked. Depends on match-up. Meaty 5B is your main one but it is not a safe option against every character.A good meaty will catch rolls + leave you safe if they neutral tech + easy to hitconfirm.

    [CP] Rachel vs. Azrael

Some setplay stuff. Mostly consolidated from past posts. Baited Growler / whiffed Growler Punish with 5C FC combo > knockdown > stuff 3C knockdown set pumpkin > timed 2A to catch rolls in corner you can try 3C instead to catch the rolls (needs more testing) TODO: Azrael specifics (combos, setups, etc.).
  5. Looks like it's a no go after all. See you all on netplay I guess lol
  6. It's a topic about... not playing the character? This is a thinly veiled topic about counter-picking as a Rachel player. Among other points of discussion, the premise that Rachel requires "reads to properly trap the opponent" is not purely exclusive to her. I believe this topic has outlived its purpose as a variety of answers have been posted. Therefore, I am closing this topic from further discussion since it only loosely relates to Rachel and seems to put more emphasis on avoiding playing her.
  7. Ranbats tomorrow (Friday). Anyone confirmed to go aside from the usual people?
  8. hime = best character proof
  9. Ranbats were last Friday... 1st SkyKing 2nd gli 3rd Yachinator Thanks to all that came by. Mystery Terumi player has potential. Please get him to swing by more often!
  10. Well, for the most part you are guessing when it comes to Tager mix-up. General Gadget Finger Options: 1) wind + backdash - can be called out with Tager 5C 2) upback - can be called out with atomic collider / air driver / angled spark bolt. With 100 meter he can MTW > RC to force another guess from you.. 3) block - counters Tager meaty 5A but risky since he can command grab to counter. ... panic mode option - OD + get out of there If you guess wrong, you will most likely be reset back into the same gadget finger situation. Important thing is that each time you re-evaluate your options so you can make the best decision. Usually I just play by the numbers and play low-risk with my guesses. Make adjustments based on what you see and go from there.
  11. ggs: Crisuki_Misu - Rachel v. Jin is pretty fun. Can't sleep on a Jin ever. LordXero - Need to figure out a better way to handle Azrael midscreen. You could have used Growler more at certain spots but I'll leave that for you to figure out. Been a long time since I played. Need to work my way up from green square again :V
  12. Oh yes, just an FYI: New forum software means new features. One of them is that there is no character limit on posts (just filesize limit which you won't really hit maintaining a video thread).
  13. @gamester: Yes, a v1.1 video thread should be created. I will sticky the thread when the time comes. Thanks.
  14. ^Same here. It's looking like 2011 all over again.
  15. UltraArcade tonight. I'll use a few sub characters this time.
  16. Twitter talk... apparently N-O is going to attend EVO this year. #RIP
  17. Well, whatever the changes may be she still is looking strong.
  18. Welcome new players. Rachel is a bit of Testament with a lot of Dizzy. Put in the right effort and you can be an expert George XIII Rachel player
  19. y'all ready for some candy land ranbats
  20. Well, mostly I keep these points in mind when trying to play neutral as Rachel. These points are not Rachel specific per se, more of a general knowledge base I have built up over the years of playing fighting games. In addition to TD's points... also consider: In general There are no hard and fast rules. The primary way to improve neutral game is to actively study videos/replays and reflect on your own play. I think this point is often overlooked and not really mentioned a lot but... try to develop a second-nature for glancing at the HUD to quickly ascertain life totals, how much meter you and your opponent has, check wind gauge, check the other person's specific drive information (i.e Spark Bolt meter, How many nails Bang has, etc.), does your opponent have a burst to use? How much time is left in the match (as Rachel, if you have the life lead and some wind... you can easily run away and win by time over). If you continually study your opponent's actions in relation to the HUD information, you will quickly find that a lot of things average players fall for is due to a lack of information. If you have ever played RTS games such as Starcraft, you can think of glancing at the HUD like looking at the mini-map in an RTS. It's your rear-view mirror! Some quick examples: - Hazama is sitting on 50 meter. Prior to this, your opponent never used his 6A overhead. Suddenly, he is fishing for 6A once he gets closer to 50 meter. Obviously he wants to 6A > Houtenjin. Without knowing this information you can easily fall for this time and time again. If you are aware of his meter you can more easily anticipate these kinds of things. Remember, reacting to overheads or hi-lows differs depending on if you are anticipating the attack versus going in blind without any prior information / tells / etc. - Tager Spark Bolt. Just as an exercise, try using Tager and just sit on a fully charged Spark Bolt. Just being at full-screen can make your opponent jump if they are aware of your Spark Bolt meter. Of course, since we are now at BBCP, you can also read their jump and use the angled Spark Bolt instead. Use this information to plan a counter. Rachel specific It is generally more advantageous to stay grounded as Rachel. Remember, you can only regenerate wind if you are grounded. If you have to jump, make sure you know the exact reason. Trying to summon in neutral is always a gamble. Pay attention to what match-up you are playing. Through experience you will learn when and where the safer spots are. Note that Rachel 5B and 2B have projectile property. This affects certain match-ups more than others (notably Tager). Just a place to start from. Good luck.
  21. Ultra Arcade -- The Dark Deed is Done. Please come out and support Ultra Arcade. There were actually 8 people last night for the BBCP "tournament". 2/19/2014 - Ultra Arcade BBCP tournament (8 man bracket / double elimination) 1: SkyKing 2: gli3 (glirandly) 3: Bloodberry 4: Will 5: Ultra Kyle 5: Jerry 7: Carlos P New players as well as veterans were here. Feel free to come by. Promising start. The owner has informed us that we will be getting another BB setup with all DLC characters. This will replace Aquapazza for now. All the UMvC3 setups will be replaced with Guilty Gear +R. He is also willing to pay for additional DLC as long as we speak up and let him know what we need. Remember, all the setups are actually dedicated cabinets for consoles. In addition, the internet here runs on fios. So... basically we have a nice thing going now. It's up to the people to support and keep this alive. I will try to make it every Friday evening for casuals / weekly tournaments. See you all there
