Well, Ragna is considerably more common as a name for women...
-
Ragna has some moments where he thinks that Celica feels familiar, I think, and I remember him thinking that she has a laugh that doesn't annoy him (whereas most girls laughing does irritate him). I think it's supposed to come across as quite sweet...but having Celica take care of him as a child makes it weird, even if the Celica that's alive now is a different Celica. But he might have never even known Celica's name when she raised him--he just calls her "old hag" in his story.
-
It wouldn't be if she hadn't raised him for at least a couple years. The fact that she did kind of makes it weird, especially on Ragna's part. It'd be like being hot for the young version of the old lady who raised you. At least it's not as creepy as it could be if she had raised him to be like that. @Tokkan: So that's how Trinity ended up in Muchourin. Thank you for that explanation. I had thought that Ookami was unsealed as well.

Well Jin and Nu are intended to be weird and creepy, but I don't think Celica's fondness for Ragna is supposed to be (though I do find it a little creepy anyway). @00Bubbles00: Nine was killed in 2110, so to jive with your theory the trio would have to be stuck in some form of cold sleep or storage for nearly 80 years. Creating the Nox Nyctores felt less like human experimentation to me than human sacrifice; although, the creation of a significant (most?) portion of beastkin (especially the creation of the Kaka clan, who even have biological safeguards to prevent from becoming too numerous) confirm that someone was messing around in trying to produce excellent soldiers. I think Jubei felt obliged to take care of them for simpler reasons: Ragna was Ragna, and he brought Jin and Saya along because it would be cruel to leave them. Alternatively, he knew something was off about them from the start. Jubei then brought them to Celica, and she seemed pretty overwhelmed by meeting Ragna again (and something about fulfilling her promise to wait for him?). @TTPR10: Eh, I think without Trinity Relius probably would've figured it out anyway. I think upon seeing Bang's nail in CS (can't remember if it's his story mode or Platinum's) he murmurs "Kushinada's Lynchpin...?" Trinity let her heart screw everything up in the first place. If she hadn't convinced Nine to release the Mind Eater spell, things would be very, very different. Did she give it to Tenjou's ancestor? If anything, Nine probably would've had custody of it. I think Rettenjou was lost after the Dark War. I'm not sure if it even had a wielder; the thing seems more of a backup plan in case they couldn't defeat the Black Beast.

Aside from giving the trio witch blood, not really. They've never shown any inclination of being capable of magic anyway. @00Bubbles00: OH NO, we do not need to make Celica's fondness for Ragna any weirder or creepier. Besides, there's been absolutely no indication of that. Possible (there's been unlikely reveals in BB before, just see the Imperator), but very unlikely.

Seven's eyes look bluish to me, especially with Eight and her greenish hair right next to him. Blond hair isn't that much of a rarity in the setting, and besides, Platinum has blonde hair (with tints of pink!) and green eyes (with heart-shaped pupils...that become normal when Trinity takes over) as well. Unless you mean Jin, Ragna, and Saya? Like I said, there's no evidence to back up the suggestion that they are not related (and mounds of evidence to prove just the opposite), but I'm wary of saying "yes, they are related, this is 100% confirmed." I'm hedging my bets. And anyway, I was bringing up Jin and Ragna as an example of how two characters can be related yet not look much like each other. With his white hair and heterochromatic eyes, Ragna has lost most of his resemblance to his siblings. IIRC Three wielded Bolverk, but I'm not sure. I believe Tokkan said that, but Google is failing me. Is Terumi using Ouroboros in Phase Shift 1 ever explained? Was it an abnormal chain he had sometime, but not yet a Nox Nyctores? Or is there something weirder going on? @mitsuyoshi: They are other members of the Ten Sages, though I can't remember the localized name for them. Ten Holy Mages? I believe it's mentioned in Valkenhayn's story.
-
Eh, outside of blond hair + glasses I don't really see it. Their faces are different. But the actual heritage of our trio is a total mystery, so who knows? It's possible. Ragna and Jin don't really look alike at all in their current states, but they're siblings as far as we know with no actual evidence to prove they're not.
-
What did Ishiwatari say about Mu's outfit? "Isn't armor supposed to protect something? Exactly what is this protecting?!" Litchi's CP art just makes me think she's trying to get away from her own breasts... Okay that's enough from me sorry We get Teach Me, Professor Kokonoe! But the tips kind of don't pay attention to time; I mean, Noel, Tsubaki, and Makoto all appear in the Academy uniforms in two episodes despite having graduated long before the events of CT. A note on Kagura: afaik no indication on whether Kagura is a man or a woman.
-
You have to get certain endings or even 100% stories, at least in Extend. THEN replay the previous TMML episode and it should unlock. Yeah, pain in the ass.
-
That's what I mean. She's the sole surviving daughter of her parents, and Jin states point-blank that as far as he knew, the Yayoi family had only one child (Tsubaki). All of her siblings died as an infant, and unless a relative managed to have another child in the several years it's been since that flashback, her clan is probably screwed--if they keep their current policies.
-
I did a quick run through of Tsubaki's story and didn't see it anywhere, but it might be mentioned in a different TMML or a Setting Material Collection. Even so, the other families probably only interbred between themselves. The Yayoi take it one step further and only breed within their own clan now--Tsubaki is mentioned to be the ONLY child of her entire clan in a flashback. @TheBossGiga: Kagura Mutsuki, aka the Black Knight.
-
It's not, but I got the sense that some might. Closest thing that suggests it is Jin's "not everyone with a family is directly related," but he could be talking about only the Kisaragi family. He does add that "each family is made up of elites and true nobles," but I'm not quite sure how to parse that. The elites of the entire family? Of particularly talented commoners or lesser nobles adopted into the family? I just threw out adoption as a potential origin for Mai, but it's more likely that Natsume is a false name. It has happened throughout history, though most adoptees were already minor nobles themselves, somewhat related to the adopting family, and/or unlikely to be in line for inheriting the estate. Mind you, we're dealing with BB here and each family already has their own rules. Some might adopt or patron extremely promising young children, and others might be nearly as strict about breeding and marriage as the Yayoi. Information is scant on the remaining 10 families. We really only know about the Kisaragi, the Yayoi, and a little about the Mutsuki. @Surfeit: Is it mentioned ingame that the other families are focused on keeping their blood relatively pure? I don't see it anywhere. The Yayoi clan is even more fanatical than that; I thought they only partnered with only exceptional Armagus users, then only within their own clan. Pretty crazy. Dunno why they don't just adopt/marry outsiders with high ars magus scores like Noel or Jin again, but w/e.
-
Natsume is likely a false name, or possibly the name he had before he was adopted into the Hazuki family--assuming that the Hazuki family does adoptions, if nowhere near the amount that the Kisaragi clan does. Some stuff on the Duodecim is mentioned in TMML Reloaded. The episode with Jin and Tsubaki in particular. Most of it just relates to the Duodecim in general, or the Kisaragi or Yayoi clans.
-
Oh, never did pay attention to the crazy Unlimited distortions. If it's not a change, yes, that probably makes it the only obvious and easily translatable move of his.
-
? I don't recall that being one of his moves. Actually, Duo Bios is probably Duo Vaios. Vaios is a Greek name. Βάιος. Also a name for a day in April.
-
But at least Amane has a coherent theme. Most of the characters do, but Relius is the seeming outlier. If they were names to scientists or common names and surnames in Germany or Austria that would make sense, but they seem chosen at random. But then, given Relius's nature, maybe that's the entire point.
-
Oh hell, I just feel like I missed the forest for the trees. Yeah, Lafino looks like it might be a fairly rare name. Lant is fairly common as a name as well, Lyra/Laia are names, Google tells me that Naia is a name derived from the naiads in the first place, Val is a name, and depending on how you write Geara (Gira/Geera/Geara/Gila/whatever) you could probably find a name for that too. Some of them might be weird derivations of other names in the first place, making them hard to find. This is the series that has the male main character using a name almost exclusively used for women after all. Still though...just names? There doesn't seem to be much rhyme and reason between them. Haas and Lauger are both German (and Austrian, and like Carl I wouldn't be surprised if Relius is from Austria), both that's the only obvious pattern.
-
Well, Valk himself says that their fates have been tied for many a year or something along those lines. Still, it's obvious they didn't have the most amicable of breakups. Relius's move names are bizarre. It's like they're an incongruous melange. I remember trying to find the origins of some of them. Duo bios is obvious, as is req vinum, but what is id lauger referring to? Id is more well known for being a translation of Freud's Es/It, but what does lauger mean? I don't know what haas means (it seems relatively common as a name), but might it refer to the Haas effect? Translation further muddies the issue, especially since you're going from language x --> Japanese --> English. This is never good for figuring stuff out. For instance, the JP version of id naiads is just naia. Is it referring to the Greek water nymphs, or is naia something not immediately obvious? Same with led ley; ley can mean law in Spanish but the original Japanese uses "rii," which afaik isn't pronounced like ley at all. The only thing that's certain is that most of them are probably based off various other languages. Even his Astral Heat's name is all in English. I, personally, am not very well-versed in various Indo-European languages, so most of them are mysterious unknown words or just gibberish to me. It might be that they stuck words in different languages together to come up with a cool or weird effect, and don't give a toss for any deeper meanings. tl;dr they might as well be gibberish. Maybe some polyglot person will come along one day and clear it up, or ArcSys releases concise origins.

Thank you very much! These are amazing. Also, what exactly is going on with Tomonori's right arm...paw? Is that what Hihiirokane does? What a strange sword. -
Yeah, I think they were once friends before Valk swore to serve Clavis. How they treat each other makes me think that they weren't always enemies. Relius seems almost friendly with him at times. And a random fact: "Valk" means wolf in Bulgarian (вълк). Weird for a guy who seems more German than anything.

It looked like it was just a vision of the future, hence Mu and Izayoi showing up. I don't count on Remix Heart actually becoming serious lol. By the next chapter it probably won't matter. Just because stuff shows up from the actual games doesn't mean RH will be canon. -
Reallyyyyy stretching for an answer, it might be some sort of Boundary-esque space/connects to some part of the Boundary and Rachel is there...to watch? To do whatever? This makes even less sense than the time travel theory. Although, in "Innocent Black," Black Beast amnesiac Ragna does seem to be hearing Rachel from "within him." Still doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but then the whole sequence seems strange. "Faintly. From within myself. A voice that's not mine can be heard It's calling out a name. It's a girl's voice. However. I don't know it. ... “And thus... this world ends. But before long, it will start again.” From somewhere unknown, I became aware I could hear that voice." Unless it's not Rachel at all but Nu, although the use of that dialogue and "that voice" (unless this is misinterpretation) leads me to believe it's Rachel.
-
AH, that clears things up. Thank you. The fact that Ragna still has his jacket just makes me think that it's a representation of Ragna's soul helping her out (unless it's just an "oops, I forgot Ragna took his jacket off" mistake). I have no explanation for why Rachel is there, though.
-
Was that before or after Ragna was consumed? If before, idk, what I think still works. Or inside the Black Beast is some sort of bizarro dimension. Or hell, Ragna just replaced her as the Black Beast's core/she was absorbed into him like in Ragna's bad end. @mMarikom: The Black Beast rampaging while Ragna is still falling through time does present a pickle. Before Ragna was absorbed into it, it probably would've looked like Nu--if there was anything inside it at all.
-
Previous time loops are also called alternate universes by Rachel. Chrono Phantasma is going with the idea that time as we know it is an illusion anyway. People like Relius and Celica traveling forward in time*, people traveling back in time... Let's chalk it all up to Amaterasu slacking at its job. @mMarikom: I had the complete opposite impression; I thought the Black Beast core uses Ragna's body based on Ragna's alternate ending in CT, Hakumen's short story from the CTSMC + the accompanying picture, and Ragna's bad end in CS. I thought Nu's appearance in Phase Shift 4 was based on what's happening in the spiritual, but in the physical plane the Black Beast's true form is Ragna's warped body under the eight-headed seithr shell.
