September 7th? That should be plenty of time. Unless something fucked up happens, then you can count me in.

[P4A] Naoto Shirogane - Gameplay Discussion "Ace Detective"
LunaKage replied to ludwig van's topic in Archives
I have a question about something I came up with for use against patient players(LOL). During a blockstring, after throwing out enough normals to push your opponent out quite a bit, use 5C > IAD > j.214D while right above your opponent. After landing, you can use an Evasive Action for a crossup. I still have reserves about using this since I haven't found a way to punish someone who would be trying to AA that setup, could just be completely useless, but I figured I'd ask you guys. -
Oh, I thought you meant the first hit, because no Ragna in his right mind would ever do the second hit without heat on block. Shit, it's hella rare to see a good Ragna even do the first hit on block, unless they were gonna use the scrub bashing mixup gimmick.
-
Always dash 5A punish, unless you know for a fact that the 5B will CH.
-
Sadly though, most of this should have been in the gameplay thread, but since there hasn't been a decent gameplay chat in awhile, I've decided to allow it. For now :3

I've found that the absolute safest option to escape Noel's drives is just good ol fasioned chicken blocking. By the time that 8 frame gap is over, you're safely in the air, and putting up a barrier will protect you from spring raid, which will be the only thing that can touch you at that point. The only time you really have to deal with the guessing game is if you block our second drive in the string. Otherwise, one way or another, we are completely at your mercy.
-
I never said anything about hitconfirming the spring raid. I meant hitconfirming the string in general, knowing if your drive actually hit. Since you obviously don't wanna do the same exact drive string on block as you would on hit, not every time anyway.
-
Truth be told, I don't even use the non-fatal versions anymore. Though I always use j.D > Reload combos after a Fatal. This is mainly because the non-fatal combos require precise drive usage to pull off, so it doesn't allow much room to register a hitconfirm, so basically you'll pretty much be autopiloting unless your reaction time is amazing. The Fatal versions though, allow you to register the hitconfirm much better, and still pull off a big damage combo complete with j.D > Reload.

Noel's blockstrings are focused on frame traps and staggers. There are a few moves I use to end blockstrings, allowing us to follow up with more pressure: 5A -1 2A +1 2B -+0 2C +1 Using each one is important. The first three moves are all used the same way, let them recover, and either microdash 5A to get back in, hit 5A or 2B without moving to bait people who are trying to poke out, or bait a reversal. 2C on the surface can be used the same way, however, most people know that this is normally the end of the blockstring, so they will be more likely to try and escape afterwards, so it's a better idea to bait escapes after a 2C by either blocking reversals, or using 3C as a frame trap or jump trap. Beware though, since 3C is punishable.

Trust me, I dont feel limited. Thats the first thing that made Naoto fun for me. Though I personally like the look of charge 2C in that combo lol, though it doesnt seem to prorate too well. -

Omit the charge 2C? Ah yeah, because of 5AA. You would have to charge 2C if you only did 5A right? -

A question about the smp loop: 5AA > 5B > 2C > 236236D > 214C > 214D >236A~B~D > 2[C] > 5C > 236B~Dxaslaflaslagag When going for the 236A, should you get both hits? I've had success with last hit only, but it seems extremely inconsistent for me, and I saw denpa hit a few loops using both hits, so I figured Id ask. -

Watched a few of Denpa's matches. It just made Naoto look more fun. I learned I definitely need to throw more traps, that is gonna be the biggest thing for me to get used to, no character I've ever played had anything like that. -

Would a well spaced 2[C] IAD on block be sufficient enough for block stun? -

My main problem with the IAD pressure is that my opponents always react to that with an anti-air. Is there some trick or timing to make it more air tight? Or does it just straight up fail against certain characters? -

Honestly I prefer IAD combos over SMP, they are maximum hype for me. @w@ FC into triple IAD loop just because I feel like it lol, probably not anywhere close to optimal, even for meterless though. -

If they get hit with anything in the corner, they get SMPed. Which is terrifying. -

I actually bought a new PS3 yesterday lol. Though I'm only on wifi, and it's the worst internet imaginable that's not dial-up lol. Also, I'm Luka now? That's the third FFX name I've been called, after Lulu and Yuna. Oh, and EX aim is the greatest move I could ever ask for. -

Yeah I figured out how to escape pressure pretty quick (I DO play Noel after all :3), and these setups are gonna be great, but they aren't gonna do much good if I can't open my opponent up. That's what I REALLY wanna know. How does Naoto pressure? And how does she mix up from said pressure? Can she even do that at all? Lol I'm at a loss. -

Started playing Naoto. I really have fun with her, and she might even replace Chie as my main. I'm wondering what Naoto generally does in presdure situations, as well as which trap to use for oki after 236A~D. I've been using C since D is much slower and MI is basically the disrespect state. What are my mixup options after oki? What are my mixup options during pressure? -
Alright, well this was a big time for me, and this Major came at the perfect time too. Shoutouts: Miller for picking me up and supplying the room. Axis for getting DQ'd for button checks (Dat Michigan shit). 50-50 for being my wingman the whole weekend, and actually playing me in BB. Skye... holy fuck man, getting flat out wasted and hitting on random women using Japanese honorifics and making fun of Axis about his dick size. Skye again for making it to Top 16 in winners in Persona. Amadeus for loving Jam entirely the perfect amount and not being at all weird about it. Also for teaching me a bit about the Character. LunaKage for agreeing to give GG a try. Circuitous for being the coolest not-old man I've ever met, and teaching me some GG basics. Brandino for being Brandino, and making the choice to permanently switch to stick for GG. Ada for showing up and being a really beast Venom. Shinsyn for running the BB and GG side tournaments, treating all of us to the best pizza ever made, and generally being an awesome individual. EX- oops, I mean FORCE BREAK Puff Balls. Chosen Ninja for forgetting that Yukiko is low tier and making it to top 4, being a really nice Noel, and having the exact same birthday as me. Jon for being the most respectful FGC member I've ever met, and letting me talk/teach for an hour about Noel stuff. NobodyEXE for knocking Axis out of pools, and buying Pizza for everyone in the room. Lord Knight for pre-tourney casuals, some pep-talk, and generally being a cool dude. Crazy Ape for being a godlike Carl player (We still need to grind that matchup ;w; ) Leonil: "THERE GOES THE LIMITER! Ok it's back on now" Pop for being a really solid Platinum player, and managing to knock Leonil out of the tourney. (I feel bad that I hadn't heard of you until now man) ZomB for being my Chie sensei for about 30 minutes. LunaKage for agreeing to take Persona seriously. BananaKen for that IK finish to win Persona 4, and taking it home for Michigan and the Mid-West. Then in the next breath becoming a Fraud in Dive-Kick. Overall it was a great experience. I didn't get to play BB as much as I wanted, and I would have loved to play LK more than those 10 or so matches before the tournament (But at least I took a few lol). The Chicago locals are some of the coolest guys, and no amount of playing matches could be as fun as just getting a bite to eat with those guys. I really hope to make it to more of these, but it's always going to be a gamble due to my current work/financial situation, but I'll try as hard as I can, and if there's ever an event I CAN make it to, you bet your ass I'll be there.
-
Why on earth would I be playing P4? I'm probably the only Chie player in the world who can't even beat a Yukiko. I'm gonna stick with the game where I can at least win ONE match, thank you very much :3

Sweet, I got monday AND tuesday off too. I switched them for days I normally work, so I'm not losing out on hours. This is gonna be hype man, can't wait to hang with everyone. Oh fuck, I need to get a new joystick for my PS3 stick, hmmm.... hopefully I can get it before we go.

Fuck, Monday too? Are we staying monday night, or are we leaving monday night?
