Opposite. Meter management makes a huge difference in poor play vs. good play. Ideally, you want to save as much meter as possible for the corner and use as little as possible midscreen while getting good corner carry. How much meter you have determines what your options are, which you should be constantly aware of. A good opponent will watch your meter, too. If you have less than 3 stars in the corner, then the only possible mixup you're going to do that will return real damage for the most part are lows or throws. Midscreen is basically meter-efficiency poverty zone, so you will have to make calls on how much you want to spend on a regular basis. You don't want to waste it in the corner either, obviously, but the risk vs. reward in the corner is much better than midscreen. Any situations where you can get meterless damage (parries, AA 5a/2c, throws in the corner are some examples) are a big bonus. Though obviously, yes, you don't want to be stingy with your meter when you've created an opening that's worth taking.

956 / 754. You have to make sure it's resetting to 5 before you hit the 4 or 6. If it's coming out too slow, then you simply haven't gotten used to it yet. If you're getting a normal jump, then it's not resetting to 5.

I thought the Renka(K) 2c Hotaru combo was a normal airdash and not IAD?

His new combos require more execution overall, with the harder combos taking significantly more precision than before. More than likely if you're feeling daunted about it, though, it's because you either did not establish that execution before hand or you are simply too rusty. Focus on what you want to try (I suggest the corner BnB if you're having as much trouble as it's sounding like) and keep at it until you feel comfy again. It's similar in principle to the old version, but the timing is sensitive enough that you can't just autopilot like the old renka corner loop but simple enough that you should be able to make progress on it without feeling like you're beating your head against the wall trying to figure out the timing at all.

Hahaha, no. Not at all. I didn't have a clue this was why it wasn't working, either. I thought my execution was ass and I wasn't doing the IAD early enough. :p I could do it on Ragna but I wasn't able to get it to work on Jin at all. Didn't check other chars since I was like "There's no way this doesn't work on Jin!!!" and was practicing there.

You have to be higher off the ground than TKs typically allow for. Tsubaki feels a little more natural to AD out of, but Hotaru feels kind of weird cause of the high recovery.

You delay the IAD too? I was under the assumption that the IAD had to be done as soon as possible so that you get lower sooner relevant to the opponent's position. Or does delaying it have some spacing ramifications? Also, no doubt there will be questions about his harder links, so an FAQ section for some of the tough spots wouldn't be a bad idea. Yes @ documenting character specifics, but probably shouldn't take priority over standard stuff.
