I am playing through the story mode and every time they talk about the "shadow operatives" they show the scene with the silhouetted figures. I'm wondering if they will play a role in Persona 5. Like one of them is clearly wearing a baseball cap backwards and I'm wondering if that's Junpei or something.

@Volpe: Playing a "low tiered" character you are going to lose a lot. It's to be expected. When I watch some of the best players who play low tier characters they aren't trying to find answers to their character's weaknesses in the game. It's learning to compensate that weakness with their player skill and their ability to read the opponent's attempts to abuse their strengths. Even though Coup Droit is a great tool it still has an answer it just might be more difficult to deal with because it has a specific answer. If anything playing Elizabeth will make you a stronger player in general because you have to compensate her weaknesses with your skill as a player. People in general focus too much on their weaknesses and not enough on their strengths. And find a false sense of comfort in admitting that they can't do anything about something. There is an answer to everything. That's why I hate looking at things on paper because that never takes into account your ability as a player. It might be discouraging to find that answer when top players who have already put a lot of time into the game still struggle, but they are human. The answer might still be out there and maybe it's your perspective that will bring it to the light.

The prize has to be something that is unique to that monthly and cannot be repeated. That which embodies the spirit of MTN. It may not even be something materialistic, but it has to have that personal touch.

If teams gets a small number of entrants do AABB, but if it's 20+ people it might be best to do pokemon style. When tourney starts though the set-ups should only be used for tournament matches. no friendlies till tourney is over or tourney gets down to like top 4.

I never felt that lowering health or removing options from a character were the best ways of balancing. Just nerfing properties of said character's options while maintaining their functionality would make the game more fair while also preserving that which makes that character unique. That's why I love how Arcsys decided to balance Eddie in AC +R.

Klein I read your post. I have much respect for how fast you are getting good in Gear and it reflects how skilled you are as a player. I'm not one that collapses underneath the pile of salt. As Bane would say, "You may have adopted the salt, but I was born in it." It's what drives me to get better. Next tourney I'll know Order-Sol combos...that much I can promise lol.

nope i tried it against poison, and i tried my other supers when i was paralyzed and nothing else removes that or any other status. I tried yosuke's awakening super against several statuses and he doesn't do anything.

Don't know if this is already been said/known but if akihiko is paralyzed you can do his lightning power up to remove the paralysis!!!

Star I tried out kanji's dp v.s. akihiko's attacks in lightning mode and akihiko still gets hit. However, I did find something else. If akihiko is paralyzed he can do his lightning mode and it removes the paralysis effect. Didn't know that before!!!!

Bishop also plays Akihiko. Speaking of Akihiko, man everyone plays him so differently. I haven't seen two players who play him similarly.

For Arson and Volpe: http://www.twitch.tv/mixupnight/b/329079528 skip to 48:33 it's Elizabeth v.s. Narukami. There is some more good stuff in the archive for a variety of characters. After seeing that match I realized that Elizabeth isn't a fullscreen zoner. She should be playing at the max range of her normals where thanatos can instantly be and also where she can cover thanatos's ass with her ranged normals, so it's more like mid-range kind of zoning. Her giant beam special isn't a zoning tool in a sense to keep people away. It's to make them approach more recklessly or in a more obvious manner specifically rush down characters. You can mixup doing it and not doing it at all depending on if they think you are going to do it. If they think you are going for it they might jump, but if you do it preemptively and read their attempt to jump you will catch them in the 5 unblockable frames of their jump. If they super jump you recover in time to position yourself at mid range space to start establishing pressure and summoning thanatos. and the fire pillars is meant to bring keep away characters to you so you can set up the same pressure against the rushdown characters.

I also wanted to add some more practical insight. The reward isn't worth the risk for Yosuke to abuse his DP. He has low health and his dp does not net him any damage. It's just not something you throw out with him unless you are either desperate to get out of a situation or you have real confidence in your read (like an obvious jump in etc) It's just not practical to take such a huge risk and then get comboed for a third of your life and even if you hit the opponent they take like what 500 damage and a knockdown? With the options already available to beat it out along with it having a poor reward to risk ratio it's not a great dp.

I think it also has to do with the move's p2 proration. If you filled the combo with moves that had better p2 proration you are able to put more than 4 since they would be canceled/linked from a move with less proration value at that moment in the combo.

when I was fighting Astaroth my dp invincibility ran out by the time his command grab came out. it happened several times. How much start up is there on his command throw?

Akihiko's dp gets stuffed by Kanji's normal command grab.

I don't really think S tier in Persona and KOF is like other fighting games S tiers. They don't dominate but have some significant advantages. The gaps on the tier list aren't that wide to begin with so even a character on the lower end of the tier list has a good chance against an S tier character. i don't think 7-3 matchups exist in this game.
