Honestly, I don't think she's that much better. Two steps forward, one step back. Fireballs make her neutral game less painful, but do nothing to address the fundamental problems of a pressure character with trash mixup, extreme vulnerability to barrier pushback (which got WORSE in CP), bad normals, and a drive that's a handicap. At the end of the day "Give her a fireball, it will improve her neutral game" is probably the least useful 'fix' they could have given her.

Testing this right now. Also, I have a hard time believing that something is both "needed" and "not good" :P Edit: Tested. Mashable only on IB, and only by characters with 5 frame jabs.
-
If you played my character you would understand why he doesn't, or if he does, why other characters do too. Also, what's this about 5BB having a sizable gap? 5B has 16 frames of blockstun and 5BB only has 13 frames of startup. Are you trying to say it's a link? Because it can't be, it'd never combo.
-
Actually, my hate for him has nothing to do with netplay. It has to do with his absurd normals, crazy dashes, blahblahstuff. Once again, they've basically just tossed balance out the window when designing a character. Is there a compelling reason for his 5BB to be +5? No there is not.

See, in my stupid opinion, Rachel is verging on too good because of her IOH combined with her other tools (maybe if there were a cooldown of like, a second or so on wind use so she couldn't chain them? I don't really know how this works) but Litchi and Azrael are even MORE too good (Both of them are pretty bull**** if you ask me). That or like, 75% of the rest of the cast needs big buffs. Seriously, I don't know why it's okay for Rachel and Litchi and Azrael to do what they do, and then you have characters like Makoto and Platinum and Amane who the developers seem to look at and say "these characters aren't allowed to have good tools because good tools would make them too good" even though other characters already have those good tools in addition to a ton of other good tools. Meh. Same old same old rant, I guess, but to this day I would SWEAR that different characters in this game are balanced to different standards. I just want everyone to be good. I don't even care what level of good. If they want to buff everyone to Kokonoe tier, great, I'm on board, if they want to nerf everyone to Makoto tier, fine, great, just as long as we're done with this $%$%&^&%&% "This (these) character has magic banana powers that allow them to get 6k off an 18 frame overhead, while everyone else gets their choice of 1.5k or a 28 frame overhead."
-
Wow. He has a level 2 5A. What a BS character. Everytime I look at Azrael's frame data, I get more annoyed.
-
Not nearly as neat as the 5B > IAD combo at the end. Holy crap.

... You just played a bunch of games where you were able to punish your opponent on wakeup every time...and got bored... ...and it made you wish you were playing a game where you could punish your opponent on wakeup every time?

I am ALWAYS on a wired connection. And I TRIED playing Ultra (on PC, no less, where the netcode seems to have mysteriously gotten WORSE since they dropped Games for Windows Live). I gave up after like 5 games. I don't complain about the BB netcode. I do complain about PSN being trash.
-
That doesn't work anymore, they nerfed the startup on her Astral. :P
-
Humorously, I don't Astral very much, even though I love mine, because I find that either: A) I need that heat for something else. B) If my opponent is weak enough that I DON'T need the heat for anything else, I actually have trouble building 100 heat without killing my opponent first. Or at least, getting them so low that it's like "Okay, I can air-throw -> Astral!" and then the air throw kills them.

If that's how it worked, Tsubaki would be SSS+

I tried to use 22B in neutral for a while, but honestly the game moves too fast for me to space it effectively most of the time, and it doesn't have that many active frames, so it's tough for me. I should probably put in some more practice with it.

I know what you're saying, but I don't, actually think this has anything to do with them being 'new' or 'less unique' or whatever. It just has to do with there being more characters. For example, if you went back in time and altered CT so that instead of Ragna, Jin and Bang, it had Tsubaki, Bullet and Makoto, you wouldn't have reduced how original each character in CT felt. And when you later added in Ragna, Jin and Bang you'd start to think "Well, the new characters just aren't as unique." it's because there are only so many fundamental game plans in fighting games; Roughly, I'd say there's "Standard Footsies" "Standard Rushdown", "Highly Mobile", "Zoning", "Trap/Setup." and "Grappler" and... that's about it. So once you have more than... maybe 8 or 10 characters, you're just working on variations within those archetypes, and no matter what you do, characters are going to start feeling more similar than they did when there were only 8. Now, to be fair, I DO think that characters whose drive is basically a "Normal with special properties" like Ragna, Jin, and Azrael, are less inherently differentiated from characters that get a more nonstandard Drive, but that's just my opinion.

Neither of these really GAINS me anything though. They don't earn me any meaningful time to charge, and a patient opponent isn't going to run into them either. 421A is almost completely useless because she can just cancel it with her own fireball or do that stupid running grab through it if you do it too close. Her DP and her wakeup game really aren't an issue for me at all; Yes, j.236A oki works reasonably well when I can use it. It's really neutral that I struggle with. I'm going to go watch some videos of this match, because it seems super frustrating to me right now, though I'm sure plenty of that is my garbage execution, but getting hit for 4k+ off random crap in neutral is really discouraging.
-
I'm sorry, but you are incorrect; The ability to do Ignis moves WHILE doing other things is what makes Relius work. Therefore, even if you did this, he'd still be able to do all his unique stuff. Honestly, I thought what you were saying made more sense before you started saying this.
-
It's not even lag, it's "You've been disconnected from the lobby!" and when I go back like 3 people are in there when it was full before.
-
PSN; Why are you such a POS? Why has everyone been kicked out of everything at least twice today?
-
I'm trying. :P Her 2B is a major problem for me at neutral, since it's faster than 5B, about the same range, and low profiles it. Her 5B is hands down better than ours. Her j.C is absurd. All you need to do is lose once at neutral and she gets heat up and it's downhill from there. It seems like her heat up is easier to get (guaranteed one level from most combos) and way more effective than our charges. All Errol's advice seems to boil down to is "play a very elusive neutral game and try to get charge without letting her get heat up" and honestly, I don't see how to do that; If I charge, it's like saying "Now is a safe time to do afterburner." So maybe I just need advice on how to play neutral in this matchup? 2A more? 5C more? Seems like it's hard to get to the range for these with her 5B being what it is.

Awesome. This means that if I play UNIB I'll get the same complaints I get about Tsubaki now, where people can't tell 6A from 6B. :P

This. This isn't rocket science. Most new players appear when a game is new. And over 5 months, they either get better or give up - one or the other is pretty much inevitable. So the only players who are going to be 'on your level' are the very small number who started around the same time you did. And since it's a 5 month old game, that's not going to be very many. So you're going to lose a lot, because most of the people playing have way more experience than you. And as for "I'd rather wait a little longer for a fair match" how would you like it if it gave you zero matches all evening because no other newbies decided to show up that night? :P Change the matchmaking and you end up with two possibilities: #1) You end up waiting a little longer for basically the same matches, as the game waits in vain for a close match then gives up, or #2) You end up with no matches as the game waits in vain for a close match and refuses to give up.
-
Yes. Like most of Bullet's attacks, it's not a throw, it just looks like one. I actually hate fighting this character now; It feels like the old Extend Ragna matchup, where her buttons beat all of my buttons, and everything leads into twice as much damage as my stuff.
-
Here's the thing. There's nothing wrong with the matchmaking. Allow me to explain. This game has been out for 5 months or so. The infinite majority of the new players picked it up in the first month. Most of them have probably given up by now... or gotten better. So, in order to match you against someone who has "About the same" ranking as you, first: There must be someone with about the same skill as you online Second: They must be within a playable connection of you. Third: They must be looking for a ranked match at that very moment. The game looks at the available player pool, says "Welp, this is the best I can do, I bet he'd rather play than sit there and stare at the menu screen" and matches you up the best it can. Would you rather it gave you no one to fight? Maybe you should try extending a friend invite to some of the people in the numerous "Hi, I'm a new player" threads around here.

Sure, and it's all subjective when we tell you you are crazy too. This game is FULL OF BRIGHT COLORS. I mean, compare it to GG where Sol is all rusts and oranges, brown hair, etc. And GG is still a pretty colorful game. BB is loud, color wise.
-
Ragna, Jin and Noel are not exactly what I think of when I think "muted, darkened colors".
