  1. A) Some of my friends call me 'Perceptive Man' B) I was looking for the "Mac? Is that you?" text macro, but couldn't find it. Had a good time regardless, except for that last game where I was just like "Raaaa, Rageburst!" which really didn't work out. :P
  2. Oh, so that WAS Mac and not just some cheese-colored impersonator. Good games there.
  3. If his drive is "Moves that give him a lot of heat" then that is the most boring drive idea ever. x.x
  4. This thread should be closed, it has nowhere to go but down after the awesome mAc 'news reel' post.
  5. I know you really want one of these because it seems like it solves all your issues, but doing a little bit of internet research indicates that they have a significant DOA rate, and that the company isn't real good about refunding/replacing them. Apparently, when they work, they're great, but they're not a reliable product.
  6. GDI. It's going to be so much work to get my stupid PS3 hooked up to a less laggy screen. Oh well. Tales of Xillia comes out this week, see you all in like September. :P
  7. Why can't he convert into an air combo?
  8. How does throwing out a completely invulnerable super that pretty much inescapably locks down the opponent if they're in range count as doing "something unsafe"? Okay, fine, the opponent could theoretically hit you ONCE before Ignis CH's them in the face and gives you a free combo, but unless that one hit kills you, that's a net positive for you, and that's the worst case situation.
  9. Not really; In fact, in a lot of cases, good players do weird stuff even against other good players, that might not even work against less good players. Because the good player is thinking "He wouldn't stop his string there, that's -7!" but by the time they realize that, no, you really DID end your string there, you've had a chance to push a button again and they're effectively minus. I've been seeing Kuresu doing this a lot (relatively. Like, once every few matches) lately, goofy stuff like ending blockstrings on 2BB or 6BB, both of which are markedly minus, but since they ARE so minus, and there are obvious followup choices, people just sit there thinking "Okay, he did 6BB, so obviously now he does 22B." and then the 22B doesn't come, and instead they're back in pressure as he goes back to 5A. It's what some people refer to as Yomi layers. "He knows this isn't safe on block, so he'll try to punish, but he knows I know it's not safe on block, so I'll cancel, so he won't try to punish, but I know he knows, so maybe I'll just..."
  10. That's okay, I have the exact same reaction except the other way around; Nothing about GG or Skullgirls resonates with me at all. Particularly Skullgirls.
  11. This is pretty cool, and I wonder why it's not the case in Extend, since you're considered to be airborne frames 23-31. Maybe it's just a super short window? OTOH, this is SUPER WEIRD and seems to defy everything we know about when it's possible to cancel stuff. I wonder if it works for other followup normals or whether 3CC is special somehow.
  12. GGs Lich and Srg Skeetz. Less good chat.
  13. GGs to NoNombreHombre - quite the seesaw we had going on there. I was starting to wonder if you'd figured me out entirely and I was just doomed, but it looks like I managed to get it back together there towards the end.
  14. Not that there's anything wrong with opening a book, but why not just put in some training mode time?
  15. This is pretty much the opposite of my experience on the 360, so.... maybe it's just PSN. :P
  16. And, ironically, not everyone who is a good teacher is actually a great fighting game player. Because fundamentally, you don't need to be able to perform elaborate combos to teach people how to play and then say "Go practice your combos." Heck, you don't even need to be good at combos to watch someone trying a combo and say "That third hit needs to be slower."
  17. FYI: Quick Disconnects
  18. Fair enough, thank you! I'll just have to figure something out. (Probably more training room time working on my anti-air 5B hitconfirms =( )
  19. If I had to guess, I'd figure that it's: A) Three jabs DOES take time, and a jab is a short starter already - so you're starting 360F down on your max duration already (Note: Max duration is sortof a lie since there are basically no moves with "Long" starting proration) and then you've wasted like another 30 frames of that doing some jabs. B) After prorating with three jabs, the extra hits aren't going to do much damage anyway, so you might as well play it safe and not risk the combo dropping.
  20. Uh, you'll observe that I wasn't quoting or addressing you. shtkn wisely gave a link to the wiki that answered your question, so I was talking to the original poster.
  21. Proration ONLY affects damage, UNLESS you are talking about "same move proration" in which case, yes, it plays a significant factor.
  22. It's true, but otherwise, my anti-air options are kinda crap; Yes, Tsubaki 2C is really strong, but only for when the opponent is jumping AT you, so if my opponent is just kinda jumping around like a bunny, I get super sad. You're right though - I need to make more educated guesses about when the opponent is going to jump.
  23. Nope, airgrabs are for everyone! Those are my not-so-secret weapon. :P They're really good in this game, and I've liked them ever since I started playing fighting games that had them, way back in like... Samurai Shodown days.
  24. But very few people shop for a "good keyboard"; They use the one that came with their PC, which was selected for price, not quality. It's definitely NOT unusual for keyboards to have weird issues with simultaneous keypresses. I would not recommend the keyboard as an input device for fighting games.
  25. It's $15 NEW on the PS3 on Amazon right now, so... well. yeah. As for the "Reaction" playstyle, there isn't necessarily anything WRONG with that. In fact, it's desirable in many cases to react to what your opponent is doing rather than try to predict them, because at the end of the day, a prediction is just a guess, whereas a reaction is you taking action based on facts. Now if you're saying that you are being too PASSIVE and not playing assertively enough (i.e. "Just letting the opponent do whatever he wants.") then you just need to make a conscious effort to break out of that. Hold the idea in your mind as you play.
