Honestly, half the time it seems like 25 heat is easier to come by than 1 charge, since you can just play footsies or do combos and get 25 heat. Is there a reason Jin can't do air ice sword as oki? I didn't realize quite how relatively slow Jin's UB was though. Though I half expect them to have reduced it in CP just to spite me. :P

Want to start joining tournaments, but i'm nervous.

The real simple gist of playing and being in matches is this: There will be someone coordinating matches. You'll probably hear them yelling something that sounds ridiculous like "I need KH2Sora and SomeKitty on station 3!" Keep an eye and two ears on that person. This person is the aforementioned "Pool Handler" who may or may not be the same person as the "TO" (Tournament Organizer). They will tell you when you need to go play and when. (There might be a couple of these people, but the basic idea is simple - keep your ears open for someone yelling your "name"). Go where you are told (If you don't know where station 3 is, ask the person telling you to go there.). Sit down. Plug in your controller. Set your buttons (do this on character select, dangit). Shake hands. Pick your character. Play your match. Shake hands again. Stand up, and clear the station. Someone else will most likely be playing there next, regardless of who won or lost your match. You only get permission to stop paying attention when you're knocked out of the tournament. -
I'm not sure I get it; Our projectiles aren't particularly impressive; They're kinda slow to come out, and usually involve pretty significant lag before we can move again. And yet Jin has an unblockable (with free fatal counter, no less) and his ice swords are at least as good as our projectiles. What's the missing element that makes it broken for us and fine for him?

I think you can save yourself a bit of a headache by remembering that "notable" is not the same as "super duper good". If there's something to be learned from this player, even if it's just combos, then they are 'notable'.

I don't really think it's fair to say "Oh, you're not a top player!" just because he made some questionable decisions. I mean, look at Konan (admittedly, you have to do most of your looking at pre-CP videos, but he is/was still a top player). He does some of the most out there crap, and sometimes it works for him, and sometimes he gets blown up because of it (and which point certain people here come out and say "Oh, I would have done X there and won!" :P ) Honestly, it's making some "bad" decisions that shows that a player isn't just playing "by the book" and that they might have what it takes to be a top player. Someone who plays completely safe all the time doesn't make it there. Arakune matches aren't the finest measuring stick anyway. :P

I wouldn't trust that; A lot of that was compiled during the loktests and turned out to just be wrong or mistaken. No one has even tried, to my knowledge, to compile a list like that since the game actually came out.
-
You can't find it because it doesn't exist. I'd be surprised if there was a honestly completely "full" list of changes for any ONE character; People keep finding new stuff AND we don't even have the game over here to test things firsthand.
-
It's not "forgetting" so much as "have absolutely no way to verify one way or the other, so opted not speculate"
-
Why are we surprised? Did they 'loketest' Mu in CS?
-
I should play this game again, but I am tired, playing Tales of Xillia on the PS3, tired, and not motivated. -_-

If you're really feeling gutsy, you can cut off the 5 pin connector and put on a new one with the wires ordered correctly. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out which is which. This isn't quite "entry level" stick modding anymore, but it's not -hard-.

No, I think the general consensus among Tsubaki mains is that she was solid during CS2; She had a few things which were "dumb" in the sense of "Good" and that's generally what it takes to get out of "meh" tier in this game. She certainly wasn't S tier, but she had a lot of things going for her that she doesn't in Extend. CP is an improvement from Extend, certainly, but I think it's kindof a wash against CS2. We'll see as more stuff develops though.

Because you can....totally prevent him from auto-gaining resources? GDI. WTF, Arcsys? Character that gets resources automatically gets devastating special moves. Character that has to stop and go into a counter hit state to gain resources gets junk?
-
Agreed. As usual, there is no "universal damage nerf"; They probably tried, but frankly, they didn't succeed. Jin's damage seems to have gone UP. Tsubaki's damage certainly went up (thank god). Hakumen's damage certainly didn't go DOWN. I'd strike any broad statements about damage. Also, it's not really that "game speed" has been upped (it hasn't) but that HITSTOP has been reduced rather a lot.
-
Well, if you believe the frame data, it hasn't had landing recovery since CS2...
-
So what you're REALLY saying is that if you have to resort to "deal with it" then you're basically wrong, and the thing that is being discussed is in fact terrible and should be fixed?
-
Her damage was semi-fixed in a patch ages ago. She's not really much below average now, I believe.

Right; Grabbing some quick food myself.

Home 'sick' today with Neck and Back pain. anyone want to make it worse? :P

That was a super good post by Darkranger; Does a much better job of explaining what I feel is missing from Tager than I did. Though I'm a big fan of Tager mixing in the occasional MagnaTech Wheel with their 720s. The reward isn't quite as high (though IIRC, Tager can still get a pretty juicy combo off a raw MTW) but it beats a lot of stupid jump shenanigans that win out over GETB. (Including "not really meaty" jump ins on wakeup). So there are times when you may want to just throw that one out there too.
-
I feel like when I come at Tager from the air, he beats all my air normals with his j.C, and half the time I just go flying into a People's Elbow, which really ruins my day. Also, if I'm not jumping much, it helps me avoid doing dumb things like jumping into fullscreen Atomic Collider which magnetized. x.x Well, the reason for THAT is that, honestly, it doesn't seem like a good option for me; Jumping out of GF only "wins" if you do a throw/buster/720, all of which lose to a DP as well, or if you do nothing/backdash, in which case I might as well have just blocked. I imagine there are levels of mindgames where jumpout is the option that beats the largest number of the things I think you're going to do, but I haven't gotten there. Also, you hardly EVER go for a 360 after GF, which removes a lot of the scare factor. My major comment remains that I don't think you 'rep' 720 and Magnatech wheel enough; Especially on your wakeup. It feels like I can pretty much do whatever I want on you when you're getting up, and if you mix in a few more wakeup DDs, I'll have to start respecting you once you get 50 heat, which will make my life much harder. x.x
-
/agree. Lambda is so much cooler than Nu. Stupid pirate eyepatch. Poor Lambda. =(
-
Hmmm. I usually think of myself as being too dependant on the air for approaches, but you're right, I almost never try to jump out defensively, which is a problem against Tager. @_@ Thank you! That was valuable insight!

Is this a terrible mentality to have whilst learning FGs?
Airk replied to Renvalt's topic in Beginner Mode
Apparently the world in which people routinely discuss mics causing lag on PSN, but no one even considers that a possibility on XBL? Seriously. I thought it was pretty obvious. :P This is a great idea, but it's actually harder to do than it sounds; I have a GREAT deal of difficulty keeping the dash at the beginning a consistent duration, which means that my brain magically picks up on "Okay, that time he dashed for 3/4ths of a second, overhead, incoming." and makes the whole exercise ineffective. =/ Still looking for suggestions on how to compensate for that. I suggest writing things down; It doesn't have to be paragraphs of text or anything, but I keep small pad of paper handy when I review my replays, and jot down basically two lists: "Do this more" and "Do this less". right now my "Do this more" list is: 5B > Charge cancel Jab Pressure Neutral 5C Barrier Block 2B > Stuff My "Do this less" list is: 236C Air approach Jumping on opponent's wakeup 5BB Whiff. -_- Before any given match, I look at the list, pick one or at most two items, and try to hold them in my brain for the match. (You're NOT going to hold onto more than one or two) And if you can hold onto them, and you're really interested in learning, you try to make the match "about" those things - they're your goal for the match. It's a "win" if you remember to do/not do them. If I go through a match and I did 5B > Charge Cancel like, 6 times, that's GOOD. I don't care if it was in the wrong places, or I got smacked for it sometimes, the point is to beat it into my head that this is a thing I should do. -

Purge your mind of THIS bad idea ASAP. Old replays (as in, from more than maybe, a month ago) are basically useless except in the "Gee, I was terrible back in June!" way. Watch your replays, take a few notes, delete them. Don't leave them around. They're not doing you any good. It's FAR better to save new replays and review them than it is to have some crazy old ones lying around as "reference". This is NOT a problem. You SHOULD be crouchblocking by default, and ONLY change to stand block when you are expecting an overhead or (ideally) reacting to one. Low attacks are pretty much universally faster than high ones, so your odds of being able to block them on reaction is basically nil. Dunno. Doesn't happen on XBL, but PSN might (does) have crappy infrastructure. :P
