The core of a fighter is 2P versus. For better or worse, everything else is just there to make it easier to play the 2P versus, to help move product on console, or to bring more yen coins to the machine. GG's no exception. The story isn't integral to the core gameplay, though it's nice to have, and makes for a more polished end product -- and polish helps a product stand out, which makes it just loop back around to profit. I haven't touched a single player mode (other than training) in any ArcSys game other than Calamity Trigger. -
Well, honestly, AquaPazza just isn't a similar game to AH3. It's not surprising a community wouldn't support a game unlike the one they already like. Enough examples of that lying around. AquaPazza's mechanics could probably draw different kinds of players, though. It could end up with a healthy community -- just not the same one playing airdashers almost exclusively.

Focal point is going to be setplay, like it always was. You'll just need to be in the corner to get it now. Universal AoA nerf (AoAs no longer give knockdown on air hit) is gonna hurt Chie more than any of the other nerfs, anyways. That's a lot fewer combos ending in knockdown, unless they revert stuff or a new skill/the new AAA string gives new combo paths.

ArcSys knows the majority of its profits will come from Japan, so I doubt it's worried about foreign markets. After all, what other nation is going to slam yen coins into a machine to get them their money?

It's complicated, but I'd argue it gets a pass because it's complexity the vast majority of people will already understand. There's no need to explain it; most people will already have a good, intuitive idea of how it works.

A good chunk of people who bought P4A (myself included) never bothered to touch the story. I bought it because it was the FUTURE OF ANIME in the FGC and my preferred game is kinda dead. I have P3, and will play it eventually, but haven't gotten around to playing it because my backlog is a solid 100+ games long.

Nah, looking at the frame data, Shabrys's persona attacks don't have any startup for Shabrys, just Asterius (or else Shabrys is vulnerable for like an entire fucking second when she inputs a C command, which doesn't sound like what I remember). You could just 1CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC and never stop blocking if it works like that.

Right now, are people separating normal and shadow charas for changelists at all? I'm thinking we're gonna get serious confusion about actual changes unless people start noting this.

A) That says nothing about 2DD. B) 5DD required delays to hit right, so they could be inputting those delays wrong at the loketest. I find it doubtful they'd make 5DD not work in the corner, though given the Yu nerf, it's possible.

The difference between a normal and shadow version of chara is starting to sound like the difference between F-Tohno and C-Nanaya in Melty. That is, they're two characters that look kind of alike, and even have some moves that look alike, but are completely fucking different.

We got the second or third patch of P4A on console. It wasn't a first go-round. I don't know if the balance is going to be better this time without a miracle, since they're doubling the cast and adding a very swingy mechanic.
