  1. We'll be hosting again this friday, 6:30pm. BB/GG/UNIEL, maybe ultimax and smash 3ds too? Seemed to actually have interest last week. PM if you need the address. Yo if you want to come to meetups we usually host fridays.
  2. haha nicee. 8 nov ca me semble plus probable vu que le 22 ca s'enligne pour ottawa.
  3. Yeah everyone's welcome. I'm guessing we'll have one station for bb, unib, and p4u/gg or whatever, depends on what ppl want to play. If someone can bring a 4th console we should be able to set it up too.
  4. also mesemble j'irais a trois rivieres a moment donné, ca fait un bout là. Some time pendant le mois de novembre peut-etre?
  5. Going to host casuals again this week on Friday, 6:30pm onwards. Mostly BB, but we can also play GG, UNIEL, and other random games. Ultimax just came out so we'll probably mess around with that if anyone wants. Smash 4 too, could be something to play while waiting for our turn on a console lol. Last week was pretty small, don't be afraid to show up guys :0 Almost everyone here knows how to play, interest varies. Let me know if you want to come for casuals on Friday, I'll pm you the address. Also BONNE CHANCE KIRB YOU GOT THIS stay relaxed and focused, dont choke and drop the soap.
  6. oui meetup che nous 6:30
  7. might as well start now... post in this thread if you're interested in going to NEC http://www.sankishin.com/board/viewtopic.php?p=1367#p1367
  8. Ouch if it's that weekend I'm not sure I'll make it. Company Christmas part on the 29th, also week before NEC so won't be able to take days off.
  9. We'll most likely host again this week, Friday 6:30pm. We host at our place these days, November's in a while but I don't see it being any different by then. We're walking distance from a metro station so it's easy to get to. Also, the Toronto tournament I was talking about was CECC (Canadian East Coast Championship, successor to the T series). Having not heard anything in a while, at this point I'm not sure it'll happen this year, but if it does we might want to go.
  10. Me and a few others are waiting for the NA release of ultimax to get it. Atm I just feel like I'll mess around in training mode, maybe learn some bnbs and a shadow burst combo or two, and just play for fun. Doubt it'll go further than that, but you never know. GUTS day 2 and summary : Everything was running pretty late so we did top 8 to top 4 off stream. Left as soon as we were all eliminated, had to get the car back to my parents since they needed to work on Monday (and so did I), so we really had to come back that day. Being the only driver, I wanted to avoid driving tired too much since I got kinda scared on the way there. Luckily we didn't run into any issues, just lots of rain and a deer that scared the shit out of me for a second. When we stopped for gas they had a bunch of craft beers so Brice bought some and all was good. So yeah match log for what happened offstream, lots were happening at the same time so I couldn't see all of them. Biscuits beat Mindgame I lost to LK (2-1) Brice lost to SKD (2-0) Level5 lost to Lich Level5 beat Biscuits (2-0) Brice lost to LK (2-0) so top 8 results I think was... 1. skd 2. lich 3. LK 4. level5 5. biscuits 5. brice 7. mindgame 7. pochp 26 entrants I think? Guilty Gear was also really good. Me and brice did pretty bad in the tournament, I wanted to stick with Ky the whole way, lost to Daiandoh and Braver, brice beat Garbage and eventually was eliminated by Monz. We Ruu a few sets, neither of us could take any games, pretty sure Brice took a round or two. Eventually I went back to my rusty May for fun and did way better than with Ky, got really close to taking a game once, maybe he was also pretty tired at that point lol. In unib I think level5 went 0-2. I won 3 or 4 times cant remember, beat some guy called skd who doesnt have the game, but got dq'd from winners because I didn't hear my name (must have been playing in the gg tournament or something). Was whatever though, haven't really practiced it since Summer Jam, wasn't expecting anything, got 9th I think? The weekend itself was great, had some really good points but also a few rather sad ones. Our hotel had this no noise after midnight or you get escorted out by state police. Prior to midnight its 2 warnings then 750$ fine and kicked out at the 3rd. The hotel where Mynus and SKD were staying was really godlike though, room was huge and no security kicked us out, even though we were 20+. Drank beer with Ruu and the americans, brice brought a mix of our local stuff, stickbug brought this really great double ipa called "Overhead", told Ruu it was called "Chuudan" hehe. He liked the fruity ones, but couldn't take the bitter ones (they were pretty damn bitter imo). The venue itself was pretty cool. It was really big, and there were dedicated stages for the secondary streams with chairs and everything so that was a big plus. Though there weren't that many people so it wasn't as packed, kinda felt empty compared to what we're used to lol. Things ran late, I wasn't in the BB bracket until brice noticed even though I signed up, but it worked out. Lots of food walking indoors walking distance from the venue so that was great. Participants for the games we entered was really similar to TSB, shoutouts to them and new england for showing up, but we way more time for casuals compared to our trips to NYC. Liked the experience, if it's at a good timing and there's good incentive to go next year again, good chance we'll make it.
  11. Guts update : we all made top 8 in bb. Brice and level5 in winners in bb, im in losers, lost to lich. Level5 beat lk offstream. We got bodied in everything else.
  12. I think there was maybe going to be a tournament in Toronto some time in November, I don't think it's been announced yet. It would be great if both don't overlap
  13. 7pm unless Brice changes his plans and can open up earlier.
  14. 2 or 3. Bring your sticks/pads.
  15. Going to be hosting Wednesday and Thursday this week, gotta get that last minute training for Guts (leaving friday after work so can't host that day obv). Something like 7pm-11:30pm, BB/GG/UNI. Brice has class on both days until 9pm, so that's the earliest we can do. @derq chu down
  16. Yeah, habaya is kind of risky, the recovery is so long, I'm guessing most players just don't want to take the risk. It's not like you have to use it anyway. Here are specific situations I may use it in : Combo ending in SoD, place 2 steins then cancel into habaya. the three fill the screen at a similar time, making it hard for the opponent to approach, allowing you to either punish them for trying, or setting up some more. Vs tager, when magnetized and close to full screen, I may cancel a stein into habaya. jump cancel wouldn't be a good idea because of atomic collider. At this spacing the arc isn't too bad in stopping him from advancing, so it burns some time on the magnetism. After a poorly spaced j.2c, I may cancel into j.236a. When it's in a situation where you think you'd get punished, it'll create some ambiguity. It's kind of slow so if you use it every time, you might die. Depending on the spacing, you might look like you're at a frame advantage after too. In a blockstring, at the correct spacing, you can special cancel a C normal into it, and it'll be both really hard for them to escape it, as well as leave you at a big frame advantage. Though, if the spacing is off, they might be able to airdash or beat it with one of their tools. With barrier and IB, it's kind of hard to guarantee a certain spacing... Against characters with projectiles that get broken by habaya, it's pretty useful (Jin, Izayoi, Nu in dia, litchi 5d set). From 3/4 screen distance and over, there's a good chance they'll throw a projectile, I mean there's no real risk for either of you. Thing is, their projectile gets destroyed and yours keeps going, so you can use that to either move in closer or set up a bit more. (obv avoid using it if you notice they have 50 meter) On oki in the corner, against people who tend to delay tech, when you're doing a ground stein set, you can special cancel into habaya (ex: 6c 5d 2d 236a I think). If they delay tech, it should meaty them, if they don't tech it'll OTG and you should be able to confirm into a knockdown. If they roll or tech and jump immediately after that specific setup you might be in trouble. If you do it too early, instead, it could blue beat and let them escape for free.
  17. sometimes we go to foonzo. sometimes we meet up at my place, it's kind of random.
  18. We'll host Friday again this week, 6:30 pm. Brice has class until like 9pm this week so you guys can't show up early this time Probably interested in going to Ottawa too.
  19. Ok we're hosting tonight, 6:30 pm. Not going to post the address here, if you don't have it, send me a pm or dm on twitter... or come on the chat.
  20. Hmm this should help : guts 3 planning http://www.sankishin.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=291
  21. Probably going to host some casuals or something on friday. Yeah sat-sun only was the plan since it's not far. So I'm guessing gas would be around 100, hotel room 170, split that 5 ways it's 54$ each. Add the venue and tournament fees, even with food it should be under 200 for the weekend.
  22. Alright lets meet up at foonzo tomorrow (wednesday). Reason being a welcome back for bladeofjustice so he better be there ;o I'll go after work.
  23. Summer jam update: Bb top 8, brice and derq in winners, me and level5 in losers. Gg top 8, brice in winners, im in losers. Uni, level 5 made top 8 losers. Jimmy and greenix made it far in their pools. Me and kazu dropped too many combos on gordeau Level5 and i got bodied in arcana. Chi rithy and wes are in top32 for ultra.
  24. Lets just go to foonzo. My place'll be too small. Haven't been in a while, so busy with work, but should be good this week. Yo! Hope you see this, we'll be hostings casuals and drinking in room 422 tonight.
  25. 22c blocked into mixup combos, kind of unstable, any better alternatives? (22c) 6d j.a step back jump forward delay j.b j.c 3b 214b 2186 (22c) 2c wait 5c j.a j.b j.c 3b 214b 2c 4c 214b 3212 Another nice thing to note about B+C is that if your back is to the corner and you manage to get your opponent to block a normal, if you cancel a normal into it you should land on the other side and put them in the corner. Also, unlike assault, you can still chain and cancel normals from it, so stuff like j.a j.214b is still there.
