Montreal: Le Thread Generale Pour Weeaboo Fighters
pochp replied to BladeOfJustice7's topic in International
I'm against the dog too. Haven't had an allergic reaction in a few years now, but since we're going for the whole weekend, I'd prefer not taking any risks. -
Double jump is way safer to bait it out. There's just this range where you expect people to IAD, and if they do it, you know they can't double jump, so expect the 2c if you don't see the Mu doing something else, and don't try to beat it (well unless you want to bet on j.d). Yeah, from close, that's probably the go to route for CSEX, something like 2c j.b j.c j.2c 2b 2c 6c habacan 6a (6b?) 5c 6c most likely. Farther away, if they aren't too high, you could do either 2c 6c habacan etc. or 2c 5c 6c habacan etc. if they're low (rest depends on how far you are from the corner, but it ends up really similar to the standard 2c CH combos). Near or in the corner I guess 2c j.c j.2c SoD/2b etc. would lead to decent damage.
-
To add to that, the recovery is long, so even if you are doing it preemtively, if the opponent opts for a double jump to bait it, you are eating a punish, crouching. Definitely not as reliable as some other anti-airs, but good enough to stop people from jumping in for free. Hm, I've never been punished for doing 2c 5c, I think. Since they need to barrier both normals, they get pushed out too far.

Well I was thinking more like my place rather than my parents' since the location is convenient and it already has setups, but I guess we'll just settle on whatever works best depending on the situation. This is making me lose motivation in going to evo lol :| -

I can host during evo friday and or saturday for sure if I end up not going (still debating). I'd say sunday too, but we might as well do that at Foonzo, for noise issues since it'll finish late and monday, people gotta work. -

a bunch of us netplay, it's kind of random though, some are more active than others. I lost my ps3 power cord a while ago so I haven't been on at all lately. I was intending on dodging, but my other plans got cancelled. Let me know if you choke. -
I love it for frame traps because you can easily confirm it in a more or less burst safe way.

Some of us also play Arcana Heart 3, Chaos Code, Street Fighter 4, KoF13, and Aquapazza a bit. It's kind of random, we'll play almost anything if there's a bit of interest and there isn't a tournament we're preparing for, or a new Arc System Works game out. That reminds me, we need to play Akatsuki Blitzkampf again some time. -

I'm down for gore. You sure? Even if it is, they may decide to give certain characters that were unimportant in CT a bigger role, since they cover more archetypes that people would be interested in. I heard that, sometimes, anime adaptations are a bit different from the original material. -

I am not that hype for a lot of changes either, because I guess I've accepted the way things are in the current version. I do however think that a lot of these changes are good for people who haven't really accepted the way BB is currently. I think it will at least be refreshing, and there are some changes I really can't wait for, so for the bigger picture, I'm looking forward to the release, but it can take its time. 1) I only mentioned combos once, it was part of an example, and the important part it was "have a plan". The combos themselves are not an issue in this case. 2) Fighting games are all about swag combos. Empire combos if possible. You have to always go for the ones with the most swag because no matter what happens it's a win-win situation for both players. When you drop it, it's ok for you because you knew it was going to happen and it gives your opponent more time to play. When you actually get it, you can feel yourself and your opponent is impressed. 3) Koihime Musou fighting game is a lot of fun so far. -

Nah blade you missed the point, Dai Loli is doing combos right already. I meant more like, Jump out of 360 whiff j.b land in other 360. Block sledge hammer (followup) and keep respecting. Etc. He's already punishing my DPs with other characters, and following them up with full high damage combos into knockdowns, consistently. -

Don't worry, it wasn't bored, I just REALLY wanted to play that koihime musou game. 30%... man there are evenings where I can't beat kirbster 30% of the time. Don't worry wins as much, try to focus on decisions (ex: bad jump ins) and/or specific issues(ex: forgetting to barrier in the air) for improvement. The wins will come as a result of that. If you want two things to work on for now, I'd say 1) commit less to things, play more reactive/passive, wait for the other guy to put himself in a disadvantageous situation, but stay close enough that you can take advantage of that (the post blade linked explains it in more detail), and 2) capitalize on your punishes. There were a lot of times where you'd bait a 360, fuck up the punish, and just eat another 360. You took the right decision but didn't capitalize, a bit more solid play and you really could do way better. A good piece of advice with this would be, think about how you're going to punish, when baiting something. Have a plan. (ex: I'm going to neutral jump out, if I see buster whiff I'll hit him with X and do Y combo. If he does nothing I'll air backdash. If he backdashes I'll punish him with Z. If he charges I'll land and 2b. I won't commit to anything besides air backdash though, because I want to be able to block if he does super) Oh yeah, last one for now. It takes a bit of time for advice to really sink into your gameplay. The more you think about it during your matches though, at some point it'll become automatic, and it'll feel really good. Can take weeks. -

Due to some complications, we'll have to open the venue a bit later. 11:30 AM or so. We'll try to be there a bit earlier and start setting up so if you arrive early come help out! Sorry
-
Can't use it, every station will use a PS3 + HDMI, so it has to support that and remove DHCP. Thanks for offering anyways.

http://www.sankishin.com/uploads/parkingmapumad.png green area is around 10-15 minutes walk from foonzo. Always double check the parking signs to make sure, they might be different because it's the grand prix (and I haven't parked there in a while)

yeah. I hope they do come though, it's going to be hype and they're not bad. bon je t'explique comment ca marche, vendredi soir j'ai mr mortified qui sera chez moi. -

No, I'll be at foonzo saturday morning to organize stuff. If you want to come saturday, go straight to foonzo instead. My address is 3523 Van horne app 1 if you need it. You can usually park on the north side of the street for free if you can find a spot. It's a residential area so you just basically keep looking until you find something. There should be people at foonzo right now. -

Made a quick map to help people find parking near foonzo http://www.sankishin.com/uploads/parkingmapumad.png as I'm assuming the paid parking areas in downtown will most likely be full. It's mostly from personal experience (thanks rhannmah lol), so I don't know all the spots, but if you want to contribute to this don't hesitate. -
