  1. I think thelo was interested in going, not sure if he still is or how to get in touch with him though, but we're full If you're feeling more lag on the Evo monitor than on your HD setup, it's most likely the opposite. It's going to screw up your timings regardless, so a lot of people assume that the setup they're more comfortable with is the one that isn't lagging. I'm just generalizing though, there is less lag on a CRT, so technically it could lag more than the Asus monitors, but the difference is a lot smaller than the one there usually is between a monitor and an HDTV. Also, DerQ, I may be wrong, but I think the cheaper models actually have less lag than the more expensive one, because they have generally less features that would just create more of this lag. The features aren't actually things most humans care about or could notice if you didn't point it out to them, but anyways, that's for another discussion.
  2. Halifax tournament... it's like, it could be really awesome to go to. We could probably set up a rotation of drivers maybe even rent a van (less issues because we're not leaving the country), stop at lac Témiscouata for a picnic because it's a really nice area, and then discover a whole part of Canada we'd never been to before. Only thing is, it's so long we'd have to leave the day before and return the following day, but since it's the weekend after ECT, it seems unlikely that we'd all be able to take the extra days off and afford it. In my case, I'm going to start an internship at a new place in may, so I really don't know what the situation for taking time off would be, and either way it wouldn't give me a lot of time to confirm if I can come or not. There are alternatives, we could do like last year for ECT and not take time off of work to go, but last year was special and Bibi is streaming the event this year, so we might want to avoid taking a risky schedule. On the other hand, we could leave for Halifax on Friday after work, stop for camping halfway, then finish the ride on Saturday morning, and then leave on Sunday morning and drive in a rotation the whole day. I think it would also be a good experience to see how far we can go, as there are tournaments we've so far considered as being more or less out of driving range, such as Seasons Beatings, The Fall Classic, Civil War, anything in Chicago, Final Round... TLDR : I'd like to go but like, ~20% chance I can make it, and we'd need to be at least 2 hopefully 3 drivers.
  3. So hype right now, better not disappoint heading out, I'll be there soon.
  4. Can't wait to try VS tomorrow... "Day 1" tournament? "Day 1" tournament. (I say day 1 because I'm assuming most players will have extremely limited, if any, experience or knowledge of the game) In other news... I was thinking about these tager player and comparing them in my head, figured I might as well post it. Hopefully this isn't a bad idea. Brice is like an anaconda. He just slowly strangles you and once he gets you you're dead. He knows what you should be doing, he'll see the flaws, and he'll take every millimeter he can, without doing very many obvious mistakes on his side. (Disclaimer : if you fuck up big time, it's not actually going to be slow. I mean, like if you play it more or less correctly, patiently, and take minimal risks, eventually you feel strangled and are bound to break) I would say, his weakness is that because he only plays against very few people, there's a lot he doesn't know about or has experienced, he just makes up for it by learning way too fast. It sometimes feel impossible to out-endure him, and going for something unexpected may be a good idea, but he adapts so fast that you can't rely on that exclusively to win. Regardless, don't worry, sometimes he breaks, sometimes faster than other times, everyone is human after all, just keep playing solid. Heartless's approach feels more like risk reward gets thrown out the window and goes for a lot of hard reads, and he's generally really good at them. The comparison with the gimmicks, is that brice will usually end his combos with a oki situation in which he knows what your options are, how to punish them, and which one you are going to go for. Heartless on the other hand prefers to end them in situations you aren't expecting, and takes advantage of your confusion. And he knows a lot of these, so it's not like you can rely on your knowledge to always make it out. Now this is good in some aspects, because if you aren't as comfortable with your character, or want to take minimal risks, you'll sometimes get scared out of taking the right decisions. However, it also comes with the weakness of missing some openings or not taking advantage of a situation in the best way. And might as well... Brian feels more "by the book". A good balance of knowledge, experience, hard reads, risk reward, but still very scary and hard to read or break. Unlike the other two, he'll use gadget slinger, probably because it's the most effective mixup. Your chances of guessing right on it are really bad. Like, I think brice knows how to do it, but he prefers using his meter for setups that will beat multiple options or option selects. I'd say, Brian plays the matchup. Brice plays you. Heartless makes you play his game. This is a late night post. Some of it might not make sense. Neither does tager. My character also lets me get away with things, so I might be wrong on certain details, but yeah, this is pretty much what I was thinking about.
  5. Is anyone bringing VS to foonzo tomorrow? I'd like to try it before I buy it. my afternoon class got cancelled because the teacher couldn't make it (and pushed back an assignment), so they might be nice... how did it go?
  6. You kind of have to delay before 6b usually anyways, but not dashing as much (or at all, if it's not needed, or just dashing later sometimes) before the first 6a makes it a lot more stable.
  7. I'm up for whatever this weekend. I just don't have access to a car.
  8. I know right, the Ky mirror is at least 7-3.
  9. Yeah we left at foonzo, they know it's yours.
  10. 66 = Dash colon means delay before inputting. it's not a common notation though j.* just means "in the air", generally you can figure out when to jump based on the context, but usually the first "j.*" after some ground normals indicates that you're supposed to jump. super jump is notated as "sj.*" (* can be replaced by any move) Some notations are explained in the first post of this thread, others are considered more general and are explained in the wiki, but if you have any other questions don't be afraid to ask.
  11. Hmmm..... I don't think OoT was the best game ever, but it's that kind of game that every time I think back to almost any part of it, I go : "oh yeah, that part was so cool". If you've never played it before, you might want to give the 3ds version a shot, I hear it's legit. I need to finish a link to the past one day lol, maybe when I finish FE4.
  12. Tomorrow, Thursday the 28th, the tournament game is going to be BlazBlue. Start time around 7-8pm, free entry, format decided depending on the situation, same as usual. I'll also join in with DerQ and I'll chip in 50c per entry for Circ, we'll see how it goes, hope you guys show up if you can
  14. Just to avoid any confusion, I meant Friday and Saturday nights, as in we're leaving Sunday. (not that I'm forcing you to stay both lol, but just wanted to make sure the wrong information didn't get across)
  15. We've got some floor space if you guys still want it (Friday and Saturday only). Casuals in our room too, like every time, 3 setups
  16. Vite dememe jdirais... no unless someone drops out :\
  17. Reminder that tomorrow we're planning on running a small free entry BB tournament. Format will be decided depending on time and number of entrants. Start time should be around 7pm TST*. *tournament standard time : nothing goes according to plan.
  18. Tuesday Thursday Sunday 6-12~

  20. Yeah, I've seen it win a couple other times too, where a move without head invuln wouldn't have, unless I'm mistaken. Maybe the hitbox/hurtbox changed, or the source might of had the wrong impression... There are days when I feel like 2c's head invuln is a lie, in EX. you sure about that? you can see the price on this shot : http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/4319/hipsb.jpg
  21. This video shows the venue, and has some footage from last year's MAD : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NV2tS7o-8s
  22. 3 evo monitors, and most likely 3 PS3s with bb/gg/p4u.
  23. reposting here for more visibility just in case, it's this sunday anyways, but we're planning on doing these more or less monthly, if it works out well (we'll still do something, but adjust the format).
  24. Ottawa huh, haven't been there in a while, it's not even a 2h drive. Fun part is we can go on saturday morning and come back after the event if we feel like it. I think I could go, but I don't really have access to a car.
