  1. lol no man, the advice you gave was solid. I just didn't want people to misunderstand what a punish was as opposed to using a reversal to beat out an attack.
  2. ...I think you are getting your terminology mixed up Lith. A punish is when you hit an opponent during their recovery of an attack, whether it be whiffed or blocked. Becuase Mu's 6B is -1 on block and -4 on IB, it is "un-punishable" because there is no attack in the game that is active on the fourth frame but it is still "unsafe". As for dealing with 6B prior to its use, 4D and 6D are both legit options albeit risky because of the required timing that Lith mentioned.
  3. Mu's 6B isn't punishable. At most it's unsafe at -4 when you IB it. As for 63214C it's -10 but the push back generally makes it hard to optimally punish or nonpunishable. If you're close enough you can dash 5B but you won't get much off a standing confirm without meter. However if you're very close you can 5A punish, though I can't recall if IB'ing at that range is necessary.
  4. What you explained was basically how Oboro played against RYO and there's nothing wrong with that since it's an effective way of using Drive offensively. However, saying that using her normals at neutral is wrong won't get you very far either. For example, when you're within Noel's 5B range you would opt to use 5D, 2D, or 6D instead? Drive is a great tool when used efficiently, but it doesn't mean it's the only element to her neutral game.
  5. Want to improve your defense? Play without D mapped so she has absolutely no reversals, then practice blocking from there Once you are used to blocking without reliance on D, learn where you are able to disrespect pressure by using D.
  6. If the format is teams, will 2 of the same character be allowed on a team?

  8. Most players don't actually know the matchup well due to a lack of moderately strong Noels. As for random crap hitting as opposed to textbook things...part of Noel's play-style is high risk/high reward so doing unexpected things can work sometimes. But if you say that "textbook" things don't seem to work you're most likely not utilizing them to their full potential.
  9. Nice, didn't know about the attribute change to his 2D. This will make dealing with 2D at neutral slightly easier now.
  10. As an offensive tool? If you're not getting punished for using it, then there's no reason not to use it. However, if you find yourself relying on Drive in places where you should be blocking or respecting the mix-up/pressure you should learn to react accordingly without Drive. It's honestly the crutch that most Noel players rely on and consequently keeps them from learning how to block sufficiently.
  11. Being able to identify where her pressure ends can be helpful. Any time she charge cancels she will almost always be at frame disadvantage so knowing when to press buttons to stop her from continuing pressure is good. The only blockstring that would leave her at frame advantage after charge cancelling would be after a 6C. Tsubaki has good pokes in comparison to Noel, notably 5B. I've heard people mention that her 6A/B startup look similar but I guess it depends, if you have trouble with them use training mode to help distinguish them. Also, pay attention her install gauge. If she catches on to the shift in pressure if she ends her blockstrings with special attacks, she can easily frame trap you by cancelling into any D variant of her special attacks which will at most times make her safe.

  17. SoCal plays AP! I'm still sad I missed out on AP during EVO though Here's hoping to AP becoming ever more (slightly) relevant!
  18. It's always possible different combo routes can be found utilizing more Cylcone attacks... And his new autocombo is swag, though people who liked his autocombo resets will be sad.
  19. Ah ok, I figured it was just me dropping the combo but I happened to see some comments mentioning something odd so I wanted to make sure. Thanks anyway!
  20. I had a question regarding how the beat counter works. With the example of Sol's Wild Throw combo into x3 SW loops > BR, if the dummy is set to neutral recovery it can tech before BR connects but if it's set to no recovery the BR will combo and not black beat. Can someone explain why and how this works?
  21. @SuperArcade I think what we plan on doing is holding the next two events as a monthly, I'd like to shoot for Sept. 28th then afterwards Oct. 26th for the BBCP release weekend. After Oct. 26h it would go back to the normal bi-weekly format. And thanks for always having us!
  22. Any insight on the BenQ monitors becoming the norm and replacing the ASUS 236H?
  23. It's ok! They all leave after a couple of hours leaving a whole bunch of empty set ups anyways :p
  24. The hitbox did not change at all. The only change is that it does not have head invuln anymore which removes its usefulness as an AA.
