  1. I'm not really trashing any game. I still found Star Ocean to be so-so, just not as gdlike as the Tales of series tended to be. Again, this whole topic was Star Ocean vs Tales of Also Starlight, I play Mu and Noel.
  2. Doesn't matter where you're from. You post when, where, and however you like, that's the way of the forum. I tried joining your room a few times, I think *Ponders*
  3. I'm also convinced that you are wrong (Ain't getting off the hook that easily, Boi!). Could've sworn that Last Hope was about a kid named Edge or something and he was assigned A BIG FUGGIN SHIP! (As I stated) and HE FLEW AROUND THE GALAXY PROTECTING PLANETS (As I previously stated), do keep up. Also, I don't recall saying that needing to understand the mechanics of the games applied only to Tales of and Star Ocean games (Where you interpretted this i'm not sure). I was saying that the Tales of games can be approached much like a person would a fighter when it comes to combat. This is due to the freedom of control, movement, and the overall combo aspect of the games. One thing I do admire even more about Tales of is the fact that it's always evolving. Never expect one version to play like the other. You say that my aspect of the story is biased but I honestly have to question that. If you look at the requirements for a story to be good by a hard-core RPG gamer Tales has everything. The plot twists, the characters and their ability to develope over time in an interesting way, and a journey the size of GOD DAMN! Again, you may see it as bias but I see it as universal standards for a story to be met in order to be considered good. Now the characters part can go either way since personally I enjoyed the Tales characters' personalities, faults, and trials far more than I did that of any Star Ocean character. Again, that's just me. If i'd have to say one thing about Star Ocean is that it beats Tales in terms of graphics, but that's about it. Again, let me make sure that we know the topic is about Tales of vs Star Ocean.
  4. I also have a three-point assessment as to why Tales of games are better than Star Ocean games. Tales of games have always been superior to Star Ocean when it comes to gameplay. The fighting system is ten times faster and smoother making it much more enjoyable to grind character training and levels. Star Ocean is just sluggish and movesets were meh. Even with the newest Tales of games, the mechanics are so similar to fighters there are some bosses you won't even be able to beat without understanding fundamentals. Second, When it comes to characters, Tales of games definitely have Star Ocean beat. They have, by far, a much more memorable cast. I'd go on about specific characters in Talesbut there are just TOO many to care about. Lastly, I've found Tales of games to have a much more enjoyable soryline. Yeah, they may be saving the world in each one, but the situations and struggles each character in Tales goes through keeps me tied in and attatched to the bigger story. With Star Ocean, a kid gets a big ship. Kid has to go save a bunch of worlds. So yeah, In with Tales games, out with Star Ocean games. If you need more proof, go play Tales of Symphonia. If you need save data, i've got about 50+ memory cards filled with it.
  5. You weren't there cause you be dodging niggas. That's right, i'm exposing you Middy!
  6. Shoutout Time: Milln- TO stuff and the usual we loves you and what-not... Naimat- Good job taking first from me, lawlz. Too much trolling and crowd hyping costed me that one (No more Rags and as much as I love her I don't think i'm cut out to play Mu *sobs*) . I remember Volpe looking at me and saying "You sold your pride as a wolf for a cheap laugh? You fucking disgust me" with a face of pure rage, needless to say he was right. Also, thanks for the BB talks. With most of the people at MTN not even playing it anymore it was nice to know that there was someone still doing their homework on the game. You hype for that X-Blaze I see. Klein- For getting my hopes up that someone actually practiced BB, you are now on my watch list. I'm coming for that beard... Jackie- Good match in the tourney. I honestly can't remember much of what happened but whatever. You are a fellow Tales brother and that's all that matters....that and Ragna's derp as heck. Really fun talking about Tales of vs Star Ocean and Sonic 2006 leading to the deaths of hundreds of little epileptic children. I'll try and have all the footage for the Noel combo video by next MTN. I'm still not sure how i'm going to get it recorded outside of replays but i'll figure something out. Papstr- INTENSE STAREDOWN!!! You know what I mean. Tad- Glad to hear that you're continuing with Noel (I somehow knew you'd come back to her). Also, a HHHUUUGGGEEE thanks for making my trip to Power Up a possiblity still worth considering. Also, can't wait to get some matches in with you when you get online. Astaroth- I think my fear of Tager is gone, like, completely. Pickle- Saw you give Volpe a run for his money. You been trainin, BOI?!?! Chris Brown- You can't read this but maybe something will relay this message to you. Thanks for showing up to play Kof. I'll try to make it to more GG events if I decide I want to pick it up ever again. Zeno- Why you no eliminate Naimat? My crew- Thanks for coming over Friday and hanging/BBing it up with me. Get hype for that Toonami return Closing remarks- This cosmic dance of bursting decadence and with-held permissions twists all our arms collectively but, if sweetness can win, and it can. Then i'll still be here tomorrow, to high-five you yesterday my friends, PPPPEEEEEAAAACCCEEEE!!!!
  7. True that, doesn't really matter I guess, seeing as i'll be claiming first place regardless. Nothing can stop my advance now!
  8. Once again, my faith goes un-rewarded. I give up...
  9. Our first Extend tournament tomorrow people, I expect to see good things from everyone.
  10. That just earned you some points Jackie.
  11. They just wanted to re-confirm my love for her is all. Honestly, I haven't seen a woman yet who looks bad in chaps. INB4RANDOMPICOFUGLYCHICKINCHAPS
  12. I just want to hear Tsubaki, That shit be gdlike.
  13. Hm, well whichever way it turns out i'm willing to drop 50 bucks for gas and 50 for splitting a hotel. I too am kind of curious about housing arrangements so if it's possible to get the details on that i'd be much appreciated Tad.
  14. Ah, BB and Melty sounds so tempting. Unfortunately my ride and housing situation is making my trip look impossible *Isadface*
  15. I'd have to say screw tier lists for P4U myself, the game has been evolving at such a crazy pace I'd honestly say having one is pointless. I remember seeing Narukami getting bodied the first few months and saying to myself "Dang, stay low-tier Narukami" then about a month later and people really started using him. Unblockable set-ups and full-screen combos, needless to say my mind was blown after seeing this.
  16. A character's tier position doesn't necesarily mean good matchups. Mitsuru's tools are indeed good, but she still doesn't have what's required to deal with a lot of characters. She easily gets matches stolen from her by characters like Chie, Teddie, Aegis, and Naoto. Her best matchups from what i've seen and understand would have to be Narukami, Akihiko, and sometimes Teddie (Only if you can get in on him). I'd have to say maybe mid-A, but definitely not S. Again, this is coming from someone who's seen over a 100+ matches with her.
  17. Mind explaining to me when this was? Because honestly, outside of BBCS:EX we've never fought. Unless you mean those times where we had casuals and you played Jin (Jin was one of my worst match-ups at the time). I don't understand how we play fighting games competitively (supposedly) but we aren't alowed to be passionate about it or we get categorized as having a "stick up your ass". Stay golden, logicial fallacies. And you have your head up your ass and someone needs to tell you about it.
  18. Naimat, i'm not understanding what you mean when you say I isolate myself from everyone. When in fact, at MTNs i'm always talking to Papstr, Jackie, Middy, Volpe, and anyone else who is playing BB or near me for that matter. Even at Milln's open-house, I talked to Trent, Jackie, Milln, and Tad about a bunch of stuff in regards to GG, BB, and SC5. I try talking to you at times but you put on this "elitist" act that draws me away. You say that I act seriously at gatherings but really if you actually saw me i'm actually interacting quite a bit trying to get to know people. Next, you say that everyone's opinions are respected and to some degree that may be the case but rarely do I feel like i've walked away feeling this. The reason this is though, goes back to my mentioning of how people have their heads up in the air. When I was posting how I felt a bit about Kof, pretty much I just got told, I didn't know enough, or I haven't practiced the game at all, which was kind of insulting but I learned to deal with it. You say that i'm vague when I posted that problem but in reality it was a simple concept to grasp, luckily I got somewhat of a decent answer that I was half-way satisfied. As for getting to know people, you say that if I want to know people I should talk to them. This didn't make any sense seeing as I try to do a fairly good job in doing this however, trying to get to know someone shouldn't be a one-way street. If i'm trying to open someone up to get to know them they should be trying to do the same to get a better understanding and level the "playing field" so-to-speak. I want to talk more on my concept of "growing" as a player. First, i'd like to say that the only person who beats me regularly is Astaroth, and I honestly feel he's the only person I learn from aside from Tad when i'm playing. I'm surprised you'd say I get "bodied" by you, Jackie, and Middy when in fact i've lost very few of the 60 or so matches i've had against you. I haven't even played Midnight in a tournament, and when I fight Jackie or you for that matter in a tournament I have beaten you both, get your facts straight please. You say that playing each other is what solely makes us better, to this I have to say you are wrong. Any player i've seen making progress in any of the games they play have been on their own time that they put into the lab and their match-ups, never from the actual off-line community (Which makes me feel like we're falling short as a community). I've seen Volpe make a surprising amount of progress in BB and when he was playing Kof. This didn't come from him playing us, but rather learning and understanding things on his own through lab-work (The same applies for me myself). While this is good, it definitely could be progressed at a quicker rate if we all did and understood more. I'd like to say that you talk about if people have a problem with something that they should change it, but that's exactly what Volpe was intending to happen with the comment. At least, it gave me the incentive to speak my mind and get a few things I felt out there. Now for Milln's argument. For the most part, I have to say that "talking about the game on the forum = progress" is true. However, on this forum, no one actually talks about BB, any of the technology they've discovered, personal match-up experience they've gained or need help with, or overall player strategies. I can't completely pin this on MTN itself when I could be saying more on it myself but you guys have taught be that if it isn't necesarily a character that you liked or played, then it tends to be a bit irrelevant in your eyes. I remember posting a big old collection of data on Noel and how I felt she was as a character but it quickly became nothing but an after-thought very quickly. Yes, we do joke around, and sometimes (very few times) play each other seriously. But I feel though as a player, that if i'm having a problem with something, this isn't the thread or the community to bring it to. The knowledge and willingless to collaborate just doesn't appear to be there in my eyes. In conclusion, I feel MTN has a lot of things to work out as a whole and trying to bring it to light is a frustrationg process but it needs to happen.
  19. Could we please stop with the Street Fighter/Blazblue shit for god's sake? It wasn't funny the first fifteen times you said it and it definitely isn't that funny now.
  20. Hm, if I had to say what MTNG is to me, it would be a place where people play games. Of course, there are some things I want to expand on when it comes to this. First, i'd say that MTNG doesn't necesarily have the depth required for me to grow as a player. I feel like I gain more from net-play when it comes to interaction with good players and characters in the games that I play. This is disheartening to me quite a bit, seeing as I usually hold almost most, if not every scene to an obligation to enhance the matches for themselves and everyone they sit down to fight since honestly off-line experience is supposed to be the best experience one can acquire. Most of the time I spend learning most of the characters I do in BB is usually so that I can have a good set against you guys and show you what a character is all about and to expect likewise from you all. But idk, just haven't really felt that lately. Another thing I would add, is that MTN feels so closed-off when it comes to the players themselves. It's hard to say that a lot of my ideas are respected and are at least given a chance before being batted out the window or tossed like trash. I generally feel this is due to the fact that most of the people I encounter have their heads so high up it's hard for them to see how close to the ground they are. Feels like more time is spent on their half trying to crush an argument so deep into the ground that it can never really surface again. This isn't to say they aren't good people, just that they are so dead-set in their ways that it's hard for them to comprehend what being wrong is. Third, i'd like to say I do feel pretty distant from most of the people at MTNG. I feel like I barely know anyone, not just as players, but as just normal people. It's hard for me to say that I can call anyone there more than aquaintances and only on the surface of that. From most of what i've seen or felt from other scenes, the players are definitely closer than that and knowing this makes me feel meh. I talked to a few people from other scenes and it's easy to say that they're cool friends with one another. I mean, a few of you have indeed known each other for quite a while, I get that. It just feels like as a new guy in trying to get to understand and accept it's hard to pretty much break down that wall that stops me from being just someone who shows up to play games to being friends with everyone there. Don't really like it too much but I guess i'll learn to get over it. In conclusion, what I think MTNG SHOULD be to me is a place where my friends gather, play games, talk crap, and grow in our endeavors to be competitive fighting gamers. It's just a shame that it's not.
  21. Wow, as more footage of these two games pop up, Under-night and Persona 4 Ultimate are looking to be my new favorite games. The pace on both gamess look pretty sick and i'm liking almost every character in both. I'll most likely take Under-Night more seriously seeing as it only has 10 characters which means i'll have less work to do in learning them all and eventually mastering the game. Needless to say, i'm fucking hyped! Edit: Just noticed that they both only have 10 characters, lol. I'll still be choosing Under-night though XD
