Middle Tennessee Needs Gaming! Monthly Versus Tourneys - Antioch, TN
LastStarSaviour replied to Milln's topic in Locals
I don't see anything wrong with the way BB is going in Middle Tennessee, keep running it. Turn-outs for majors and what not don't really matter when it comes to the communities themselves so low turn-outs there doesn't necesarily mean low turn-outs all the way around the FG spectrum. Let's just do what we've always done. I read somewhere that someone was saying that people only "play the games they are good at" which isn't necesarily true (since I play a few games like Third Strike that i'm not exactly gdlike at). I also heard someone say that BB players just bash SF without actually getting to learn how to play the game. To this I say that for some players that is true, but at the same time you do have BB players who have legitimately played the game and gave the game enough time to come to a concensus on whether if it is something worth continuing. Myself for instance, I had SF4 for about maybe a year and a half or two when it first came out (I trained regularly as any person who picks up a fighter shoud). Plus, everyone I knew liked it at the time so I tried to give it a chance but over time as I got to play it more it just became a boring process (therefore I legitimately dropped it). I see nothing wrong with people playing the games they actually love playing as apposed to just playing games so bigger communities can be built. If a community has to stay small but very active in a game, then so be it. -

Idk why, but today was a hell of a good day. I'm pumped to kill you people in Extend in a few more weeks and maybe even Kof. Feels strange, could this be what happiness truly is? Nah... -

Yeah, I can understand what you mean. @Middy- He doesn't play BB. A man like that has no true form yet in my eyes, just a hat. -

Could've sworn BB requires you to learn twice as much when it comes to spacing. With the barrier-block system you really need to understand your characters normals and how they are used in any given situation. As for having learning how to manage meter, Kof has BB beat by a long shot. Also, Kof is the fastest game out there currently, even though matches are fairly long. -

I disagree with you in some aspects Grim, but I respect your opinion but honestly saying that i'm not used to having to acutally practice in the games I play was kind of insulting, just saying... Also, Blazblue isn't a game where you get almost 60% off of just any old random hit. There are characters like that but many others require you to actually either fish for counter hits (this requires reading, baiting, and understanding your opponent as well as having great executionm, punishes, and mind-games). In Kof, you hit someone, and you REALLY hit someone if you're playing with the right character. Honestly, I see Kof as a much easier game to learn but harder to master seeing as it's so much more simple in design and seeing as combos are simply "loop these specials over and over again." You play Relius, that dude pours damage out of his ass-hole for a living. Litchi barely gets 4k or decent corner-carry unless you get a counter-hit and Makoto isn't even a character to complain about. -

If Astaroth is playing Platinum, and Naimat is playing Noel, and Jackie is playing Bang, and I'm playing all of the above and more/Tager, and Mill plays Blazblue, then Midnight must play Tsubaki. I really will do this, lol. -

Naimat, I didn't denounce what you said at all, so if you thought that my bad. I was referring to what Klein was saying, since honestly it was... anyways let's talk about the issues: A)Correct B) You left out a lot with this. I do recall saying that 60% damage is indeed a big deal. But notice I said that if I get hit by a cross-up that I feel I did not block correctly, then this is okay. However, if I do try to block a cross-up but instead the move does not register as a cross-up even though it crossed me up IN THE EXACT SAME SITUATION I was in before, then i'm pissed. This is different then what you're saying I said. Now the thing that gets me is that you responded to me saying you were stating the obvious. The fact of the matter is, each character does have a job to do. Whether it's build meter, waste that meter, kill niggas regardless, or just whatever else. However, if I can't even attempt to achieve to do these things with my characters due to them dying by an error then there's honestly no point to me trying to play the game with a team-based theme. I'm better off just focussing on keeping my current character alive and out of the way of stupidity. Another thing that I would like to point out is that I appreciate Kof in its entireity (things I dislike and all). Yes, I do diss many games but never once did i say they weren't worth playing. Maybe I do come in with preconceived notions but can you really blame me? Playing fighters for a while usually makes you play many others the same way, so yeah... -

I don't think it's OP to take 60% of a character's life. I think it's OP to take 60% of someone's life for moving even the slightest bit. You would think the game would still register the move you do the same regardless if your opponent moved even the slightest bit, at least in my head anyways. This is one reason i'm kind of drawn away from the game. Also, I understand that Kof is a team-based game and the needs of one character does not out-weigh the needs of everyone else, etc... (the rest of what you posted was kind of stating the obvious) -

idk, I doubt this is the case. Reason being is that the moves I get hit by and the angle I get hit by them normally are considered cross-ups. However, the occasion that I mention are when a move specifically is a cross-up however when it hits me as just a normal move. It's kind of weird to type and explain. It may have to deal with the state they're in in the air. But it feels more like a game error than a human one. -

I know that obviously Kof isn't the only game with cross-ups, what i'm trying to get at is that i've planned and would have otherwise blocked the cross-up but for some reason I get hit for baiting it correctly. I'm not stupid Midnight. Edit: Also, many characters do possess combos that are 60% that do not require them using every last bit of meter they have. -

I'll go ahead and make my first point: First, I want to start off with one thing that has been kind of annoying to get hit by, this is the cross-up. Now I know what you're all saying, "How can getting hit by a simple cross-up be annoying? It's a simple part of fighting game "fundamentals" and reacting to them is simple for any decent player." To this, I do agree and I have no qualms with the times that I am hit by a proper over-head that I failed to react to. But, what i'm not okay with is when i'm in the exact same position I was when my opponent threw out his last move which crossed up but instead this time it decided "Meh, kind of don't feel like crossing my opponent up today." and you, already reacting to what you thought was going to be a "proper" cross-up got hit. This leaves me in a "WTF!?!" state seeing as I have A) Learned how to deal with cross-ups with multiple characters who have them at every angle and possible space and B) Prepared myself to deal with the next time a cross-up was going to happen. The funny thing is is that I wouldn't even have a problem with getting hit by them if it wasn't for the fact that getting hit by this leads to you losing about 60% of your life (at least for any high-tier character to my knowledge, which are quite a few in the game) and any person with the execution and skill enough to do so (Not many people I have fought actually do have this level of execution due to them either not knowing combos or just don't have execution to begin with) but the people who do have punished me for this much of my health everytime. So let's review, fundamentally I knew what was taking place and i've prepared myself properly but still got punished and lost 60% of my health to bs? That's fair, Kof. Anyone who believes they understand are welcome to comment if they feel, but please try to give an educated response. -

Heh, will do. But one thing I would like to mention though guys. I'm not bashing the game to hell, i'm really not. There are just things in the game that i've found and or experienced that I want to make light of to see if it has some grounds with you guys as well. I do highly enjoy Kof and want to take part in it. These things just make me feel uneasy when I don't or haven't played anyone at a truly high-level. I will continue to snap however, since my credibility is on the line when I do anything with you guys. -

Well, I really want to go on a long, drawn-out speel, but the hour is getting late and I have to actually take care of some things. Grim you are right that i've been talking blankly but I do assure you that everything I said does have merit and i'll expose my arguments' credibility soon. For now, just bide your time and wait. My five-point Kof assessment will come soon (hope you all enjoy it). Good night, MTN -

I highly doubt this....so you know, the fact that I spent time actually learning what's a proper blockstring in Kof, what's fucking normal pressure and mix-up in Kof, and fucking just trying to learn what's fucking supposed to be legit in general in Kof and yet I still get fucking weirded out by something, oh yes, there's absolutely nothing wrong at all, everything is perfect, everything is precise, and everything is as it should be. Is that what you're saying? Here's my response to that... FUCK YOUR LOGIC!!!! -

I'm not really in the mood to try and explain myself to people who I doubt would understand what i've gone through with the game. So i'll just let you all come to your own idiotic conclusions for now. And if i'm just bad at King of Fighters then i'm just fucking bad at fighting games in general I guess. I have no idea what i'm talking about after all, isn't that right guys?
