The problem is it would have been a tournament of a bunch of people who aren't as good at the game, or people who are severely out of practice. How many people that you see in the top brackets of tournaments still play CT? Heck the last tournament I went to even the people who didn't have CS basically were talking about how they can't wait to switch to CS. You guys would really rather see a CT tournament full of people who A. don't care about the game B. care about the game but aren't very good and C. don't have good comp(which feeds B even if they could have been good) than marvel? Yeah marvel is broken as hell, but the top tier has variety in it, all the top tiers play incredibly differently and there are several teams that can do good and have completely different game plans.

the anti bb sentiment on srk was mostly anti CT, it doesn't seem like most people have a problem with BB itself.
-
veteru's got a better chance in CS IMO, ragna is super good!
-
the problem is the ONLY tag on the Acho videos is a-cho ggxx. you can't really search for them, I'll pm you a link, and you can find the rest from their you tube account/related videos.
-
have you seen the recent A-cho stuff, there's some crazy crap in there(I just favourited like 12 videos with baiken in em).

I know the northwest is gearing up to go to evo again for BB, GG, MB and anyhting else we can get our hands on, regardless of the main game stature or not. We'll be there in force to support our games!
-
I still try and play GG weekly! once evo stats getting closer I'll practice the hell out of it regardless if it's a main game or not.
-
I play that on repeat in my mind when I practice!

I like CT personally, the problem is me and lots of the others have already migrated. How many of the top players( i don't consider myself one of them) are still playing CT? How many of the ones that are playing CS are really gonna be able to go back and be super motivated about CT again? If I thought a good majority of the tournament would be people who are fully motivated for CT and at the best of their game I'd support it in a second, but I know I won't be, and I don't think many others will be either. edit: I'd play the hell out of GGAC main tournament, I'd enter twice if they'd let me.

I personally will very likely not attend a CT tournament, I will come to evo regardless and play side GG, and side CS, and maybe TvC(I'd like to play at least one main event). Several scenes were basically completely switched over to CS before the leak, now that the game is leaked scenes that were playing CS are even more entrenched since a lot of people will download it and practice at home, and people who didn't have it now DO have it. Having a CT tournament will probably be severely unhype since many people will be playing on a version they do not like as much, and many people will not be playing at their best. I would personally rather see a really hype melty and MvC2 final than eliminating either and seeing an unmotivated CT final. Thanks for communicating so much with the non srk communities in attempts to make evo the best it can be.

I just went to travelocity.com typed in o'hare to vegas with hotel+air plane arriving on the 8th, returning on the 12, then sorted by price. There's some as low as 350-400ish dollars for round trip tickets and 4 days at a hotel. There are several travel companies out there, and if you check 'em every day you can often find a good deal. Not sure if the evo hotel rate is still available but it might be better to just get plane tickets and book the hotel separately. Watching the prices can really pay off too, I've seen ticket prices drop some 25-50 dollars over the course of a few days.

you can treat it like a collectible card game! gotta get em all!

joe the condor needs a stick, I'll tell you that right now. It really depends on who you want to play.
-
it's like 30 or 40, then 10 bucks per game if I remember correctly. It's really steep for a single game(unless you win!), but it's pretty good if you play a couple. Also if you don't play in official tournaments(IE only BB CS stuff, and GG tournaments) you don't have to pay venue.
-
we ALWAYS do teams and singles at evo, regardless of what the offical game status is.
-
I think part of the problem is that some people see final round as the main gg event, and some people see evo. I personally go to evo for my BIG GG tournament of the year, then frosty fausting and anything within reasonable driving distance. I don't go to evo because it's evo or because it's close to the west coast. I go to evo because it's the big GG event. If we come out as a community and say 'hey screw evo, final round is the big even' I'll try to go to that(although it's at a pretty inconvenient time). As soon as I'm no longer a jobless college student I'll probably go to both.
-
yeah that's about how I remembered it, though 2 years ago evo was the second tournament I had ever been too and definitely the biggest so it was all super hype for me anyways, so those disappointments didn't stick in my head too much. It's really sad we have such a large community and we have as of yet really failed at getting our stuff together.

my suggestion is start looking at flight and hotel prices, also look for BUNDLED flight and hotel prices. I have no idea what your funds are but you can find some amazingly good deals. Another thing to remember, cabs are cheap. It's like 10 bucks to get from any hotel on the strip to any other hotel on the strip, split that between 2 or 3 people and it's super cheap. I ended up paying 700 bucks for round trip tickets and a full week(I stayed the tuesday before evo till the tuesday after it) at a nice hotel. If you look around and are willing to stay at cheaper hotels you can find some REAL nice package deals. If that's not an option you can try carpooling, but depending on where you live and how many people you get in the car you can try carpooling, but I don't really think you save all that much. edit: Also I understand not having gear as a main game, but not even on the community vote list, I do consider that a bit of an insult.

Didn't a whole bunch of people not come 2 years ago and then make a big stink about the results claiming they didn't matter because they didn't go? that's the big thing about it being a side tourney is some people decide not to come, even though it's more accessible. I strongly urge everyone who was planning to go, to still go. The only way I'm not is if some sort of job offer gets in the way(graduating senior, and I will TELL them I want to go to evo so I want that time off), or if it becomes financially unfeasible.
-
yeah that's hella lame.
-
really? I thought they wrecked casshern, they took away all his restands didn't they?
-
You don't need to be 21 to enjoy evo or vegas, there's lots of stuff you can do without being of drinking age!
-
I'm still going, but I'm not likely going to sign up for anything CT related.
-
apparently it's not up yet, so I'm not sure when, but they said there's going to be one more game voted on the community, I'm not suggesting we try and bull dog our way in. I'll post some sort of link when it's up.

everyone go to shoryuken and vote gear in! It's gonna be tough to beat marvel though.
