Lord Knight's GAMEPLAY RELATED QUESTIONS ONLY thread (EX edition)
destruction_adv replied to Lord Knight's topic in Archive
I'm not saying he's wrong, I just want to know why Bang is dumb so I can start abusing it. Also, as you can see, I sigged the earlier comment about Bang. -

I really don't get it, if I did I wouldn't have asked. Also, I haven't played CSEX yet. -

I gotta ask, why Bang? What makes him dumb? -
What you're describing isn't picking a main, it's more so learning a character, which is the next step. What we try to answer here is who should you choose to learn. Picking a main is , in my opinion, all about asking, what do I want to do in a fighting game, and finding who does that. Someone with expirence can pick that out from watching vids, but a total new comer to the genre will most likely be unable to. In my case as a total noob I picked a main from watching videos, but what I wanted to do was listen to JAM Project, so I play Bang. Also, did you just say Ragna can't rushdown as effictively as Lambda, was that just a typo, or have you never played a good Ragna. Ragna's a beast when he gets in. While I would agree that Lambda is still decent up close (only on offense though), Ragna's much better.

It's a little more complicated than that for some (but not all people) some times people like a specific playstyle, and like to know which character goes well with that playstyle. Sometimes people pick based solely on looks, or the personality of the character in story mode.

Don't worry about it, reaction time will come as you get used to the game. Everyone was at the spamming fireball stage at one point, but with prractice you pull yourself up. Also, the more you like a game, the easier it should be to practice, and since I've yet to play a more likeable game than GG (In my opinoin), trust me when I say practice rarely seems like work in this game.

This is how I've been doing it, and when comboing, remember to return to neutral before doing a special input, made things a million times easier for me. I kept trying to do 6B->623A in KOF and it wouldn't come out until I started returning to neutral with it.

Finally, now there's a real ninja in this game.

Well, I started with Kula, Mai, and Yuri, but later took out Kula for Elisibeth. The best I've ever been at any fighting game was with Bang in BB, though I've really come to like my current team.

Yeah, I sometimes have problems wording things...but pretty much this. The other thing is that the scene tends to die down over time, and when there's no one to play it's no fun. Like when everyone I knew gave up Blazblue for Dissidia and two friends and I were the only ones who still played, and I didn't even have netplay (well, I did have one month). Then when BBCSEX came out, everyone suddenly started playing again.

That's a bit too long imo, it can get stale if there's no change in 2 years. Besides if you really know your charcter, you shouldn't have too much progress to make up even if they were nerfed.

So, my older brother got me this game as a 2 month late birthday present. Still, it's the first game I've started to learn on arcade stick. I need to chose some characters though...

Another thing I notice is that Relius is listed under multiple character control, but isn't Ignis comparable to Litchi's staff in application? The only real difference I can see is that it has it's own health gauge. Still, in my expirence (which admitedly isn't to much) Litchi's staff and Relius's Ignis are more similar than Ignis and Ada.

Thank you, I guess the next step is to try getting used to executing specials and such in the middle of combos, and combos in general. Hopefully I'll be able to get used to this before SG and the GG port are done.

I have a question, how effective is playing a game you've never played seriously before (in my case Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) to learn how to play on arcade stick. I've been at it for a little less than a week, and I've gotten a little better, but would it be better to try learning with my copy of Blazblue (which I actually know how to play). Just to clarify, I do execution drills in Jojo as well, not just a whole bunch of matches

You forgot Sol's clean hit, and I agree with Fenir.
-
No one said giving effort had to be boring, but you do have to put a lot more time into learning GG than say BB, or at least I did. It never feels boring though.

I gotta agree, GG takes a load of effort to play.

[Accent Core] Sol Badguy General Discussion
destruction_adv replied to Hatred Edge's topic in Sol Badguy
Uh, I'm probably not the best person to answer, but I don't think there is any special trick, you just grind it out in training mode until you can get it. -
GGXXAC+ Rebalancing, Features, and Overall Wishlist Thread
destruction_adv replied to Blade's topic in Guilty Gear General
It really seems like it isn't used except as a last push for victory, or as the old Sol 101 thread says Dragon Install (214214S) - This move is terrible and arguably THE worst OD in the game. It's not practical in any way, shape, or form. Sol's 6H is probably more useful than this move. While DI does temoparily make Sol go into "berserker" mode and gain meter over time, once this move is over Sol will lose any meter he's gained, and if he enters the recovery animation (kneels down and touches his head very briefly) he'll be close to a negative penalty and dizzy state afterwards. Only use this move if you want to mess around in casuals, want to look cool after winning a round and have 50% meter to burn, or are making a combo video. -

I want Dragon Install to be useful as more than "Well, I'm gonna lose anyway, let's do it in STYLE!" -
Wow, if all the people here and on are are only five percent, fighting games must be more popular than FPS games, finally!(If only...)

I've learned that the best way to tech netplay throws is to turn your console off, especially if it'd cost you the match. Seriously though, I trained myself to press B+C the instant I hear the sound of a throw or see an exclamation point, you just have to be more on point online. Practice until you dream of teching throws, that's all I can say other than try to avoid throws as much as possible if it's really a big issue, but that's hard to do on and offline..

I'm not gonna lie, if Justice become legal, my love of mecha would force me to play her.
