  1. It seems like we will be going with BBCS Extend. If you have a copy of the game, please bring it to the tournament. It will be on PS3
  2. KOFXIII has been added as a main tournament. First post has been updated with the rules!
  3. OK I made a poll to decide which version of BB we will use. Please vote if you plan to enter BB. The results will be announced in 15 days. http://www.dustloop.com/forums/showthread.php?12854-Frosty-Faustings-IV-BB-version-poll Thank you Dooku for bringing a BB setup. It is a big help.
  4. Frosty Faustings IV will have a BlazBlue tournament. Since Extend will be out in Japan by that time but not in the US, I want to know which version people would rather play. Please vote for the version you would prefer.
  5. Thanks for the input St1ckbug. BB players seem to be pretty quiet on the matter. Doesn't seem to be much interest for BB... I was thinking of adding KOFXIII as a main game. Do people even want a BB tournament? I have no problem running it but I just want to make sure we run the version that the majority of players are going to want to enter. Is anyone coming that plans to bring a BB setup, and if so, which version?
  6. So, I just noticed that BBCS Extend comes out in the US AFTER Frosty Faustings. The Japanese version comes out on Dec 17th. Is anyone planning on importing it? Do people still want BBCS Extend even though it will not be out in the US yet? We could have BBCS2 instead but... what do you all think? I don't expect to have a copy of the game personally so unless someone can bring BBCS Extend, I don't think we will be using that version of the game. Please provide input.
  7. Good news! For those of you who want to play casuals and practice up on Friday night, Nickel City will let us set up consoles in the event room on Saturday night and we can play until the store closes at 1 pm. We are not being charged to use the event room for this extra day, but Nickel City normally charges its customers 2 dollars to get into the arcade on any regular business day. So if you want to play casuals on Friday night, bring any setups you want and just pay 2 bucks for free play all night on the consoles. You, of course, can also play any fighting games they have on the cabinets which operate on nickels and are very cheap to play while some games are even on free play. We can leave the consoles and TVs in the event room overnight so that it takes less time to set up in the morning. However, you are of course free to take your consoles and TVs home and bring them back the next morning if you don't want to leave them there over night. I will be there playing casuals and setting up some stations for sure and I know several out of state players who will be down to practice. So if you are looking for casuals on Friday night before the tournament, just head to Nickel City.
  8. Osirun from Power Up will be giving away $30 redemption coupons to all of the 1st place finishers of each of the main events at Frosty Faustings IV. There will be one ticket for each main tournament (singles), so that would be a total of 5 tickets (GGAC, SSFIV, UMvC3, BBCS, MK9). This is a nice added bonus and is in addition to any prize money that the top finishers will win otherwise. Thanks to Osirun for giving these away! For more information about Power Up 2012, check the thread here.
  9. I am pretty much fine with any side tournaments as long as someone wants to organize/run it and bring the equipment for it. If you plan to run a side tournament, post up the rules here. I will add the rules to the first post under side tournaments. Arcana Heart 3: singles (by Greats)PS3 $5 entry fee (top 3 payout 70/30/10 split) Best 2/3, double elimination. Winners finals, Losers finals, and Grand finals are all 3/5. No game breaking glitches (i.e. Tyr Nazuna lock glitch) Winner must keep character, loser my switch. Both players are allowed to switch Arcana on win or loss. Blind arcana select is allowed (by the games built in function) Arcana Heart 3: teams (if there is interest)PS3 $5 entry fee per player, so $10 per team (top 3 payout, 70/30/10 split) Double Elim Waseda format (first 2 players play, second 2 players play, then if it's a tie the winners play for a tie breaker, and the teams can decide what order they go in) Same rules as singles otherwise. No extra matches for finals except for GF if the team from losers bracket resets it.
  10. If you cant get the stick ready before the tournament, there will be plenty of sticks there. I'm sure someone will be happy to let you use theirs.
  11. I would suggest watching some vids of Hayashi (はやし) using his Ky. There are a ton of vids of him on niko and youtube. Find a match of him playing against a good Faust like Osaka B, Kishya, or Nage.
  12. well ill be happy to play you in some casuals to help you learn the matchup better
  13. I am looking for volunteers who are willing to commentate on the stream. We will be giving coverage to all of the 5 main tournament games throughout the day. Each games semi finals and finals will be streamed for sure. If you are interested in commentating on a game, please post up. Even if it is just for a little bit, it would be a great help. Tentative schedule for the day 10:00 AM - we have access to the venue. I will be there bright and early to start setting up equipment. 11:00 AM - Sign ups for all games begins. 12:00 AM - All main tournament games will start. All main tournament games will be played until the semi finals. Each games semi finals will be streamed in their entirety. For now, the order will be BB MK9 UMVC3 GG SSFIVAE After all singles tournament finals are over, we will begin team tournaments. Team tournaments will also have all semis and finals streamed for each game. We have access to the venue until 3 am. All tournaments will easily end before that time, but if people want to stick around and play matches, rock it out.
  14. Sorry to hear that you are having so much trouble. I am sure you won't have a problem getting a room at Red Roof so don't worry.
  15. sorry their site isnt working reaver. I cant really call easily from Japan. Here is a bunch of hotels near the arcade http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&gs_upl=44127l45656l1l45841l14l10l0l0l0l8l250l1824l0.4.5l9l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&biw=1280&bih=653&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=hotels+near+555+waukegan+rd+northbrook+IL&fb=1&hq=hotels&hnear=0x880fc0cf0cce0c19:0x3dcaef0500c8bc4e,555+Waukegan+Rd,+Northbrook,+IL+60062&ei=DmzXTv_3IoyWiQexh5HDDQ&sa=X&oi=local_group&ct=image&ved=0CAoQtgM let me know if it doesnt work.
  16. Sorry for the lack of updates. I have been busy with a lot of real life stuff. I am officially announcing that all games (GGXX, UMvC3, SSFIVAE, BB, and MK9) will be $20 entrance fee with a top 8 payout structure as follows: 1st (50%), 2nd (20%), 3rd (12%), 4th (6%), 5th (4%), 6th (4%), 7th (2%), 8th (2%) Last year, SSFIV had over 100 entrants! That is a lot of money on the table. I am sure with UMvC3 being a fresh game with tons of hype, and having a new balance of AE out, the numbers will be huge this year! I know that the serious MK community is hungry as well so I know they will be coming in full force. This is a major and a serious event. With more chances to get paid and more prize money for the top placers, it gives everyone an even better reason to bring their A game. An extra 10 dollars to enter a game is a small price to pay for better odds of getting paid in the top 8 and better payout for the top placers. It also gives out of state players more incentive to travel and an opportunity to cover more of their expenses and profit. Keep in mind that 1st place for GG will still get $200 on top of the pot winnings, and both UMvC3 and SSFIVAE will each get $100 for first place on top of the pot winnings. I also would like to announce that we will officially have a live stream! It will be run by Daniel Medina (Medina4life). We will try to give all games some exposure on the stream and all finals will be streamed for sure. An official stream schedule will be announced soon. If you would like to commentate on any of the games on the stream, please speak up because we will need some good commentary. I also want to get organized with who is going to run each game. So from those of you who volunteered, please confirm with me if the following is OK. GGXX – Run by ElvenShadow SSFIVAE – Run by Humbag and Max MK9 – Run by Astral and of course I will be helping everyone to run every game when they need extra assistance, so don't worry. You won't just be left to handle everything by yourself. I still need people to run UMvC3 and BB. If you would like to help run a tournament, please post and let me know. You will get your venue fee waved completely and your help would be very much appreciated.
  17. oh sorry reaver i missed your question. ff is only a one day event but if you want to play casuals on friday i am sure there will be people playing somewhere. as for sunday, i fly bac to japan at 7 am so as soon as the tournament is over i have to get ready to leave. its the only day i could do the tournament so thats just the way it goes. there are tons of things to do around chicago though. its the 3rd largest city in the usa with lot of famous places to go sight seeing, lot of great bars with awsome local brews, some of the best restaurants in the world. what other stuff are you in to? id be more than happy to recommend some stuff. zinac, glad you can come. we gotta have some faust mirrors
  18. Reaver, what do you mean exactly? Were you waiting on something?
  19. to be honest, im not sure. I checked the website (I updated the link on the first post cuz it was busted), but I didnt see anything mentioned. You could try giving them a call and ask. Its a bit difficult for me to call them from Japan. If not, the airport might offer some sort of special shuttle service for cheap.
  20. Amar from Nickel City is throwing an extra 100 dollars in the prize pot for SSFIV, Marvel, and GG. Thats 100 for each game separately. I'm thinking that this extra 100 will all just go to 1st place for each game. In addition, I am going to throw in an additional 100 for first place in GG. So thats an extra 200 dollars for 1st place GG on top of the regular prize money from entry fees.
  21. There is a lot of talk on the SRK thread about having some games be $20 entry fee but payout would go to the top 8 winners. Its looking like most people want this for SSFIVAE and UMvC3. I was wondering what the Guilty Gear community thinks? Would having a $20 entry fee but with top 8 payout give you more or less incentive to enter GG? Please post your thoughts on this.
  22. Frosty Faustings will officially have a Skullgirls demo setup for people to try out throughout the day. A representative from Reverge Labs will be there to answer questions and show the game! If you haven't tried it out yet, now is a great chance to try what is shaping up to be an excellent game.
  23. Yea a vampire side tournament would be fine. Id even consider making it a main event. If someone wants to run it I am all for it.
  24. Yea man, I hope to see you there again. This tournament is the perfect opportunity for all of those people who always say how they miss playing GG. I hope everyone acts on those words.
