  1. Hey, welcome! From reading your first paragraph, I was thinking Slayer, and then you came right out and said it. I don't think execution is a thing you should be afraid of, for a couple reasons. a.) You're going to be more motivated to put the work in if it's a character you love, and b.) Xrd will be coming out soonish, and there's every indication that the execution curve will be lowered significantly. Plus, improving execution is something you can take with you into other games and other characters. Another recommendation I would make is Faust, his execution is very simple and he has a very good spacing-heavy neutral game with projectiles that kind of reminds me of Injustice. Jam is really good at punishing mistakes in neutral, but she's a little more offensively minded. Kliff is also a character you should look at once you get the +R patch.
  2. You can sign up as whatever you want, it doesn't have to be your PSN tag or whatever. I sign up under all sorts of trolly names.
  3. EMS shipping is $12 for me. I ordered from a different store, but that's the same quote the JP Post site gives me.
  4. I preordered it, but I agree with you there is a lot of stuff coming out lately. It'll be worth it for me as long as I can get games every once in awhile, since I really like the character design and it seems simple enough to pick up. Plus, we probably won't be getting an NA port.
  5. He took his fashion advice from Kokonoe.
  6. Great, thanks, didn't think to check the nico link. I'll know where to look from now on.
  7. Does anybody happen to know the name of the pink-haired Hermes player in this video? He's amazing, I feel like it has to be somebody well-known.
  8. Nice one. The one I've been using doesn't require run, but does about 250 less damage: Throw > IAD > delay j.B > j.D > land 5D(2) > hjc > j.B > j.C(1) > j.D > 214D Also: Throw > 214214K > 236AC > 22B > 66 > 5C > 5D(2) > hjc > j.B > j.C(1) > j.D > 214D - 9905 dmg
  9. http://wiki.livedoor.jp/chaoscode/ is the one I know about.
  10. I'm going to be transferring some info from the JP wiki and videos over the next few days. My translating skills are pretty mediocre, but I can at least add combos and some other basic stuff. If you want to add to it, please do, cause I don't think we have a lot of volunteers. You guys don't happen to know where I could find any frame data, do you?
  11. No to both, does that mean it's a new version? http://wiki.livedoor.jp/chaoscode/d/%a5%bb%a5%ea%a5%a2 has some combos, and a lot of other information that I can't read. I am also interested in Celia, could anyone throw some match footage of good Celia players my way? The only place I know to look for Chaos Code videos is A-Cho.
  12. Something I noticed real quick with Hermes, not mentioned in the wiki, sorry if it's well known. You have enough time to set an orb in between the 5D > 2B link, which makes 623B a pretty damaging meterless finisher in the corner. Ex.: 5A > 5B > 5C > 5D(2) > 214B > 2B > 5C > 623B Or you can just finish your combo normally and leave the orb out to be annoying. Midscreen, if you're close enough, you can give up a little bit of damage to set an orb behind you. Ex.: 2AB > 5D(2) > 214B > 2B > 6B > 214A
  13. Oh man, it's today? So hype!
  14. IMO that says more about how our culture has devolved than the quality of chess as a game.
  15. Just so you guys know, if you preorder on Steam, you get into the beta for free. Netcode seems good, not amazing, I only played a few matches but it felt similar to AE netcode. It was a far cry from when I played the game on PS3 and wanted to rip my face off.
  16. It does look like a good stepping stone into fighting games, but the problem is, how do you market it that way? Fighting games are a pretty niche genre, most people who want to play them already do. If you look at other recent successes like Skullgirls and Yatagarasu, they had a very vocal and active fanbase which spread by word of mouth from the top down. In other words, the hardcore players attracted the attention of casual players. I'm not sure this game will be able to replicate that, since there's no existing playerbase like with Skullgirls/MvC2 or Yatagarasu/3S, and the game does not cater to the hardcore player at all.
  17. Right, but it's still a big leap from knowing what frames are to knowing how important frame advantage is to competition. I've seen PLENTY of indie/doujin games made by people who clearly don't have the first clue about frame advantage in relation to game balance, so it's good that the developers of this one are at least conscious of the subject. I wasn't saying that the game will necessarily be good, because I think some parts of their design philosophy are flawed (like making a casual fighter that only hardcore fighting game players will buy), but the video inspires more confidence in me than the majority of these indie projects.
  18. One of their characters is a black werewolf acrobat...smh. I don't mind the concept of sacrificing execution for strategy, I only hope there are enough options to make the game interesting. Some of the character concepts actually sound really cool, and I feel like they should have shown them off to give us an idea of how an "advanced" character will look. I get the sense that they do understand competitive fighting games to some degree. The mere idea of a frame advantage bar isn't something you'd come up with otherwise. I'm not really sure how much of a market there is for what they're doing, but I would like to believe that something good will come out of this.
  19. Totally! Welcome to Dustloop btw, glad you're asking questions about the game. Once you get used to numerical notation, you'll find it's a lot more logical and less messy than stuff like "cr.HP, QCF+MK" because the numbers are (almost) always directions and the letters are always commands. It allows you to read long lines of combos and understand them quickly.
  20. Thanks for the advice, guys. I'm leaning towards Dlanor or Ronove since I like the idea of using Bern to open people up for big damage, and giving her a meat shield to build her meter. 410 actually seems like a great partner as well, but I can't stand the character. The game's system is not as daunting as I expected, biggest thing is going to be figuring out how to manage my meter. Are assault touches a huge waste, or are they a good way to tag in someone like Dlanor or Jessica?
  21. I'm guessing there will be more players on Steam. It's $10 though, so whatever.
  22. Any recommendations on partners for Bern? I'm not really sure what to consider for team-building in this game. Am I looking for someone with good options after a burst, or just good support abilities that I can use for Bern's extended meta world? My other favorite character is Jessica, but the two don't seem to synergize very well.
  23. I don't think they will add any P2 characters simply because they are not very recognizable.
  24. So goddamn hype for this. I'm going to be really conflicted on character choice though, Yukari's playstyle looks like exactly what I was missing from Yukiko and Naoto. I'd be surprised if we saw more than 2-3 new characters. The shadow mode is going to be a pain to balance as is.
