  1. Community is full of scrubs > NRS listens to community > Game becomes scrubby > Community attracts more scrubs It's a vicious cycle. We're lucky Japanese games aren't balanced by American opinions.
  2. Looks like I'll be able to tune in tonight. Going to tell my stream viewers about this too, I have a lot of people asking me to do a GG/P4A tutorial series.
  3. This is the main reason I would never buy an XB1, so I'm glad to see the government taking action. All of the DRM stuff and pricing doesn't bother me nearly as much as the knowledge that I have no privacy in my own home.
  4. Hmm, I don't know, but why worry about it if you shouldn't be using 5B > 2D> 9j.A anyway?
  5. I played MvC2 for 10+years, I'm not hating on the Capcom community. My point is that KI looks to be another very simple, nostalgia-ridden, flashy type of fighter with the type of graphics that will appeal to the same market sector as UMvC3. If you compare the history of popularity between KI-style games and GG-style games, it should be easy to see which one will have more players lining up to check it out. I would say the sentiment from non-GG players toward Xrd right now is split between "couldn't care less animu bs" and "I'm cautiously optimistic that this game will be more accessible and have a bigger playerbase". We have to wait for the game to actually get released before converting most people to the hype train.
  6. No no, don't worry. You're already doing it the best way with 5B > 9j.2DA, because that doesn't allow them to react to the wind. Later wind = better. The only reason to 2D before jumping is if you think you can catch them with a 2B or start conditioning them for that. When you say "5B > 2D > 9j.A > j.B > jc > j.B > j.A > j.B > j.C", are you talking about her fuzzy guard setup? Piano j.A > j.B immediately, otherwise it won't come out. You need to delay j.A slightly against small hitbox characters, but against most of the cast the timing is simple. Again, just do 5B > j.2D > (slight delay) > j.AB (piano) > jc > j.B etc.
  7. I disagree. As much as I'd like to believe what you're saying, there is a huge percentage of people who would rather play crappy games like UMvC3 than good ones like Guilty Gear. Most Capcom players couldn't care less about GG or any anime game because they can't stand the graphics/difficulty/stigma. Killer Instinct is really going to appeal to everyone who plays SF/Marvel/MK in terms of its graphics, nostalgia, and scrubby accessibility. Whether it's a long-term viable game or not is kind of moot, it's got all the hype right now.
  8. Jago Unchained. But yeah, I'm not super impressed by what I saw. The normal and special moves do almost no damage, so it seems like the entire game is about doing easy combos and rock-paper-scissoring your opponent, like a less broken Marvel. I'm hoping some of the new characters will have slightly less linear playstyles, but it's hard to know what to expect.
  9. None of the new characters really interest me more than Rachel. If Kokonoe gets revealed, though...
  10. Yeah, probably back for the main design. I don't know if the site would let you put a small GG logo on the front, or a tiny character outline, or something.
  11. It feels good.
  12. Godlike. Ordered a Jam shirt, might be interested in more if they get a bit more detail (like Millia's), or if the site starts offering zip hoodies.
  13. Personally I use the same button layout for all ArcSys games: A B C D For GG, that translates to: P K S H D I would just recommend using your standard layout and adding D to it. What grip are you trying to use? Some kind of wineglass? A lot of players think they're trying to emulate top Japanese players with fancy underhanded grips, and they end up with no control over the top of the stick. Try experimenting with rotating your hand so it's more parallel to you instead of straight forward, and make sure you're controlling the ball top with your thumb. Let your thumb control the movement and use your other fingers for support. Here is a guide with pictures of some grips: http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2009/jul/08/tips-switching-pad-joystick/
  14. When you say "those who play competitively", what exactly do you mean? As far as people who travel to tournaments and take the game seriously, there's no way they make up even 0.1% of sales. Probably less than 5% of people who own any Smash game even know that tournaments exist for it, let alone what wavedashing is. On the other hand, if you're talking about the casual crowd who still want the game to be competitively balanced so they can mash with their friends, maybe I can agree with that. But I don't think any of them care how deep the game is.
  15. Am I the only one who thinks the Wii Fit Trainer is a really cool addition? I mean, we already had R.O.B.
  16. There are a couple of hacks which I think are used for competitive play, but Brawl isn't too popular competitively in general.
  17. Well we can bet that it won't be built to be played competitively, since Nintendo's stance is anti-competition when it comes to their own games. They will take even more steps to make it unbalanced and random, and eliminate evil skill mechanics. To be honest though, I don't care that much whether Smash is "competitive". I've had a ton of fun with every version of Smash, and it's a big reason why I'll probably be buying a Wii U.
  18. Hahahaha, that's fucking hilarious. Thank you Micro$oft, for making this game completely tourney-unplayable. Figured I'd post this here, Maximillian gives a fairly detailed breakdown of the game and his impressions so far (which are overwhelmingly positive). Whether you care or not is up to you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6_Ob32JScw More footage from E3 today at http://www.twitch.tv/madcatz @ 4:30pm EST
  19. j.B is generally your best jump-in, since it's almost as fast as j.A and has a better hitbox/active frames. You can also use IAD j.D j.2C which hits crouchers and crosses up as it flies over them, but it's not difficult to anti-air this.
  20. I didn't see the end, but you and Kirbster were still in it when I had to go. Was planning on checking the VODs later.
  21. Are some of the characters console-only? I was hoping to find some Rimi footage.
  22. I don't even understand how you can make a game these days without netplay.
  23. The TYM forums are pretty hilarious right now, tons of people talking about his awesome "50/50" of a 16F low and a 25F overhead. I'm like uhh...are you guys for real? He has some really nice tools, but his damage is low and a lot of his stuff just looks like day 1 gimmicks. I guess time will tell.
  24. Go to Vs Net, someone chooses the first option and the amount of delay you want. Other person chooses the second option and enters the host's IP. That's it!
  25. General Zod tears off his face -- surprise bitches, it's actually Sub-Zero!
