  1. I pretty much suck at this game, but I hope it gets a resurgence with LoveMax. All of the characters and arcanas are so fun to mess around with, I can never stick with one for too long. Will there be an AH3 side tourney at Evo?
  2. Does AmiAmi e-mail you when items on your watch list come in stock? Otherwise I'm going to be doing some obsessive F5'ing for the next few days...
  3. Nooooooooooo.... ;_;
  4. Hi, Good post, it seems like you already kind of understand what's up. The "just another action game" mentality can be difficult to break at first, especially if you play a lot of other games like shooters and beat-em-ups. The main difference is, in BlazBlue, you're eventually fighting against other humans and you can (and should) be blocking or otherwise trying to counter their attacks. Right now, you're probably pressing too many buttons. Start blocking a lot more, even against the AI, and punish them with a combo when they perform big moves with a lot of recovery. Pay attention every time you press a button and get hit, and train yourself to only use an attack when it has a purpose. As for combos, yeah, BlazBlue has the longest combos. I guess you could consider learning a character's combos to be a part of their learning curve, but at your level it's definitely not necessary to know everything. Try sticking with a few simple BnB (bread & butter) combos that work on everyone. You don't need to optimize your combos right now, it's more important for you to learn general gameplay, but converting some damage from your hits is still important. Figure out what moves you're confirming from most frequently and learn two easy combos for each: one for midscreen and one for the corner. The Noel Wiki page actually has some of these simple BnBs listed if you're overwhelmed by the combo thread. Finally, I don't know if you've already checked it out or not, but Persona 4 Arena is a very good entry-level ArcSys fighter with easier combos and fewer moves/characters in general, so it's a little less overwhelming. However, if you really like the BlazBlue characters/story/etc. you should definitely stick with it. It's nothing you can't handle with a little practice. Good luck!
  5. Would you say that Tager suffers from prorate cancer?
  6. Pfft. Dude, you do an awesome job of keeping up this thread. We're lucky to have you updating it as much as you do.
  7. Converters from PS3 to 360 exist, but they all either have input delay or require a 360 controller from what I'm aware. And PS3 wireless controllers are banned at many tournaments because they cause sync issues. The best solution is to get a PS2 pad, for which there are tons of lagless converters like this one. Also, the L2 and R2 buttons on a PS2 pad are much, much more responsive if you use them for RC'ing and stuff like I do.
  8. It is possible to be good at a game and think it's awful.
  9. Kind of weird that this thread is more dead after release than it was before release. Thoughts? Experiences? I haven't picked it up yet because I was skeptical, but seeing a lot of gameplay has made me think it might actually be worth getting. I love that zoning is heavily emphasized, but most characters have the tools to get around it. I have heard very bad things about the netcode, though.
  10. Fraps is probably the best program as far as recording quality, but it costs money. The best free program I'm not sure, maybe Open Broadcaster Software? The difference is Fraps outputs raw in maximum possible quality, whereas most other programs encode the content first. Makes for smaller files, but lower quality and more difficult to edit. Then you'll also want a video editor, VirtualDub is basically the best option and it's free as well.
  11. Lots of glitches are known by the developers and just accepted. Fighting games are full of cute unintended interactions. Keep in mind that the challenge was created after the trick was found.
  12. Yes, you have about 2-4 frames during the animation of your special move where the RC will be blue instead of red and only cost 25% tension. That's how you know it was a successfully timed FRC. Not every move can be FRC'ed though, check the Wiki to find out specifics.
  13. Rachel is an underdog? I would recommend Tao to anybody who doesn't mind putting a lot of work into their character, and sticking to that character for a long period of time. More specifically, I'd say she has a very active playstyle which would appeal to somebody who likes flying around the screen, pressing a lot of buttons (with purpose), and being tricky. I actually think she's fine for a beginner if you're dedicated, you learn a lot about matchup specifics playing as her.
  14. Ah yes, that's much simpler, thanks for the quick reply. I was too focused on trying to use the crossunder from 9D. Edit: Can't seem to get this combo down at all. After I dash under, if I 5CC too early it goes in the wrong direction, and if I 5CC too late they tech. What sort of height do I need to be hitting the j2C at to make this work?
  15. What's the best thing I can do if I'm in the corner and I tag the opponent with say, 2A? I've tried 2A > 5B > [5CD] > 3C 9D to cross under, but from there I can't seem to go into any j.2C routes because the 9D wind momentum carries through. Haven't figured out a way to end the combo with them in the corner and me getting decent oki.
  16. Any love for Hazama? He has a ton of options, rewards making good reads, will definitely give you a sense of accomplishment the more time you invest into him. He's flashy as hell and very satisfying when played well. Not too difficult execution but requires a slightly different mentality.
  17. Nope. As far as I know, the last version of GG with a PC port was #Reload, and there are no plans to port AC or AC+R. Your best bet is to get a console, or buy the PS2 version and legally emulate it.
  18. Damn, that's probably the most boring infinite I've ever seen.
  19. I don't care for the pace of the game either, and the animation is awful, but the movement feels a lot smoother to me than MK9. The movesets are pretty interesting, I like the ability to FB/EX moves after they come out. I like the fact that so many normals are safe on block, but since nothing seems to be jump/dash cancellable and the gatlings are arcane as hell, pressure feels pretty stale to me. I'm not sure how well rushdown characters are going to do once everybody learns how to block, especially given how much damage projectiles seem to do in this game. Overall, it's a mixed bag for me. I'm more impressed than I thought I would be, though.
  20. Hmm I think I remember you mentioning something about adding info on resets, that would be good.
  21. +: It's Tsubaki! -: It's Tsubaki...
  22. [3/28] Rachel (N-O) vs Litchi - N-O runs a train for over an hour, fights the Litchi many times, as well as a Tao. Litchi is pretty good but I don't recognize the name?
  23. I think it's more beneficial not to do these things, so that you can repeatedly go through the entire combo and get it into muscle memory regardless of whether it blue beats. If you get stuck on something halfway through the combo and set the training dummy to tech, you're going to have a lot less experience with the second half, and spend even longer trying to get it down. It's pretty easy to see when the combo goes blue to fix mistakes.
  24. Turbo works by skipping frames, not actually speeding up time, so the actual window of links only changes if one of the frames in the link window is skipped. Your input can be lost if it's a 1f link or if you input on the last possible frame of a link window. I'm not sure how the game handles things if you input on the first frame of a 2f link and it gets skipped, though. I believe the input will be carried over into the next frame and you'll hit the link (because according to the game, that skipped frame never actually happened).
  25. I vote Tao.
