  1. I don't think so. Litchi and Carl are characters that a lot of people won't even play once because they have no idea how to play them and aren't interested, but they both have a lot of diehard players who main them at mid-high level. On the other hand, Relius and Hazama are cool characters that aren't too tough to pick up (at least at first) and everybody wants to try out, but I honestly don't think a lot of people stick with them. Relius should be bottom 3 most played characters easily. And yeah, my vote for most overplayed goes to Lambda. She's obviously not the most played, but there are still too many of her.
  2. I think Blue Beat is pretty good. It's actually something from the game, and it rolls off the tongue.
  3. P4A upcoming? I guess you live in Europe? :P To be honest, who cares whether other people get salty about your character. You should revel in their tears. If you like Noel, just play Noel. Otherwise, Tsubaki is also a pretty accessible rushdown character, and nobody is ever going to complain about you playing her.
  4. Thanks, good info.
  5. 1. A stick isn't necessary, especially for P4A. It might be a good switch for you personally if you think it would help you play better, but most likely you're going to need an adjustment period regardless of what you use. I can't for the life of me understand why you're trying to play with analog instead of D-Pad though, D-Pads are way more accurate, especially for diagonals like you mentioned. If all you've got is an XBox 360 pad then pick up a better one, but PS2 or MadCatz pads should work fine. IMO, best thing you can do whether you're getting used to pad or stick, is just spend 10-15 minutes every day perfecting basic inputs like: IAD, TK 2369X, 623X, 632146X (not used in P4A but still will help your execution). If you still have Guilty Gear, practice with I-No, you'll learn a lot. 2. Play more. Mashing is just a result of not understanding your options, and not committing things to muscle memory. Even good players mash when they're learning a new game. It goes away on its own. 3. Meh, there's a good guide to training mode right here, I can't add much to it. You can use a high-level COM or random guard to practice confirms. 4. Honestly this is probably a good thing. It sounds like you're playing against competent opponents. Hopefully they're friendly enough with you that you can just ask them after the match what you should've done differently, or whether you could've disrespected their pressure. Learning how to tech and burst properly IMO is the hardest thing about playing anime fighters, you're not doing anything wrong. P4A is a very momentum-heavy game as well. Just try not to get caught by the same gimmicks twice, and once you figure out their tendencies, you can start baiting DPs and resets, and turn the tables on them! 5. See #2, reading the screen at a glance is just something that comes with playing a lot, you can't practice it. And a a general rule I would say you should never burst offensively unless it's going to kill, mostly because (as you pointed out) it's so difficult to be on defense in these games.
  6. PSN: ItsCelerity Mostly QBee and Lei-Lei, still pretty free but it's fine.
  7. According to the wiki, all versions are 2F and invincible, but maybe it's incorrect.
  8. Can you explain why her ES command throw is so much better? Is it just because it option selects with LP?
  9. Go for it, nobody's going to argue with more information.
  10. Yeah, I posted in the MLP thread at Team Liquid (Starcraft site) and nobody really seemed interested anymore. It would be pretty hilarious if the llama was a zoning character. Llama style yo.
  11. Is...is that...a llama??
  12. Yeah you're right. Seems like it's more to do with the way 2A chains into crouching moves though, there's more delay than chaining it into standing moves. @ZomB: that's interesting, did you ever figure out why? The mook never made any differentiation between the startup of 5C and 2C.
  13. No, they're the same move. I do the same thing sometimes.
  14. How exactly would obtaining the SG engine help them? Didn't they already have a fully functioning engine in place? Insanely smart move by Lab Zero though, they want that brony $$$.
  15. Frankly, there's no character in P4 (or any fighting game, but especially P4) that you can't play on pad. Yukiko is the most annoying due to Agi charges, but it's nothing some shoulder bindings can't fix. Don't ever let execution deter you; you only fail when you don't try.
  16. Dizzy is pretty similar to Yukiko, not so much Rachel though. Dizzy/Yukiko use a very active zoning style. It sounds like Dizzy is what you want, but you might also check out Venom and maybe Axl.
  17. The sooner you start, the better you'll be when BBCP is released. It's not like everything about the game is changing.
  18. Litchi I would assume.
  19. I don't much care for items for competitive play, but I do think people should embrace more stages. There's nothing imbalanced or random about a stage; even if you argue that nonstandard stages favor certain characters, I would counter that FD favors certain characters as well. I think it would be cool to have it like Starcraft where the loser of a set picks the next stage.
  20. Hell yes Peach. What's under that dress, girl? You already know.
  21. Anyone know the release date? Website doesn't have one that I could see.
  22. 1. A microdash is basically just a really short dash. Usually you'll input it by pressing the button at the same time as the 2nd 6, so 6 6C as opposed to 6 6...C. 2. I don't really do this so I don't know, but you could alternate setting them to block high/low if all you want is to practice your BnBs and have them block spear spin. Honestly it's probably better to practice this kind of stuff against real people, or at the very least a CPU so that you get a feel for how to confirm.
  23. Wow, dat generosity. As amazing as that news is, I'm not sure if the game will be nearly as successful. A lot of what I liked about it was how faithfully it recreated the TV characters.
  24. This might be a really weird suggestion, but have you tried SFxT? It plays a lot like Street Fighter without all of the stuff you mentioned. Well...except damage scaling...what game doesn't have that?
  25. It sounds like you're trying to pick some of the most technical characters and it's ruining your enjoyment of the game. I could be wrong, and it's understandable to pick characters that "speak to you", but if you're so worried about execution and memorizing setups that you can't actually play against other people, that's a problem. I would actually suggest Tsubaki as a beginner-friendly alternative to Ragna, and once you have some real games under your belt, you can think about revisiting Hazama/Rachel/etc. (because those characters sound like exactly what you're looking for, long-term).
