I'm making progress handling Carl, but I'm realizing from online matches that knowing your own character is only half the battle. Could some of the BB veterans give me a rundown on some of the characters they know, maybe starting with Tager, Jin, and Ragna? I'm interested in things not to do versus the character, the spacing they're looking for, normals and specials to watch for, etc.
-
I'm definitely more interested in BB at the moment, but sometime between now and NEC we should have some persona matches so we're not rusty for that tournament.

Anyone know what is optimal off of N-C-O-W from a 5A/2A/5B/2B? Is this ideally where you want to go for an unblockable?
-
The input barrier I'm struggling with currently is xx > j.b > j.c> 46D. I'm able to execute the 46D just fine, but it seems to be coming out either too early or too late. I'm thinking you want to put the 46D just after the j.b input. Any suggestions on conquering this input sequence?

I'm still struggling to wrap my brain around this character, but I noticed there isn't anything in this thread about combos off of raw Nirvana hits. I saw Dio do these in some of the videos. They're easy to execute too: off Con Fuoco midscreen lv2 6C, 5B, j.B, dj.B, dj.2C, djC off Volante hit 6B, 6A, (optional 22]D[), j.B, dj.B, dj.2C, dj.C You might be able to fit a clap in there if you're able to move Nirvana during the air portion of the combos. I haven't tested this. Does anyone have anything better or something more damaging for the corner.

One thing I love about this character is that there's always room for improvement. Whether its FC 2C combos, FC SB television, or SMP loop, you can add items and a burst to those combos for super situational setups. The only limitation is how much you want to practice him.

[CP] Carl Clover Gameplay Discussion (Changelog in OP)

Teleport her in? Then vivace if possible ...? -
With the firecracker, I would call the item and run right behind it to lock them in the corner. With the lightning ball, it depends. If I had time to call the item via 2D (throws it further), I would throw it out to try and get them in blockstun (or get paralyzed if they press the button). They'll probably move either deeper into the corner to avoid the lightning or they'll move forward and you can continue pressure. If you think they'll punish you for throwing out the item or use the opportunity to get out of the corner, I would just hold onto the lightning ball. Items aren't just for gimmicks/combos, they're valuable zoning tools in your neutral game. Another thing, I believe there are multiple "correct" ways of playing Teddie and calling items. Definitely be willing to experiment with this character.

Who is this Teddie Player? I can't read the Kanji: http://www.twitch.tv/godsgarden/b/476362204

Liz's 5B and j.B will easily knock Teddie out of teddie screw. If he's able to screw your liz, he's getting a read on you and you're being too predictable. Teddie's DP and items are really useful in ruining Liz's not great mixup game with Thanatos. A persona hit by an item will still keep Liz in recovery, giving you a lot of frames to move in. Once Liz is persona broken, her only real options are to run away from Teddie, using j.B until she gets Thanatos back. In contrast, Liz's DP is not useful at all in escaping Teddie's pressure and the price of a bad DP against Teddie is high. Also, in awakening you can easily react to Maragidyne and Maziodyne with Teddie Circus, making them eat 3300 damage. Trolling made easy

Where do you input the 8D (the clap) in combos ending with j.B, j.2C, j.B, dj.B, dj.C? Is the input timing the same if you start with super jump j.B instead?

[CP] Carl Clover Gameplay Discussion (Changelog in OP)

How much does Carl suffer from online play? I haven't tested this yet. -
Friday here: http://www.gamepazzo.com/ Monday here: http://ignitegl.com/ Both will have GG and there are some really good players, although I'm not sure how many of them might be out of town on Friday Nov 1st for Youmacon.

Friday at pazzo is a tournament. BB just came out. What's the plan? Is there demand for a persona tournament or do we want to rotate on what BB setups we have and stream that?

[CP] Carl Clover Gameplay Discussion (Changelog in OP)
wiredgod replied to Akira-Shiro's topic in Carl Clover
Thanks for all the insight. I'm just wondering if a Carl player might want a sub in case of some truly difficult matchups. I was thinking Tao might be a good sub. -
What are Tao's good/bad matchups? Is this kind of thing known at the moment?

Who are Carl's bad matchups? Is this kind of thing that's known at this point? -
This is a sick combo video. How much of this is practical / optimal?
-
I'm a new player to BB and I'm picking up Carl. Am I wrong thinking he's an absolute beast in terms of execution required? Is there any harder character to play?
-
This is supposed to be a tough matchup, but not having the oki option will throw a lot of Chie players off. Get your items out and space yourself out of her 5A range and you'll win. On teddie circus, I love this move, but you shouldn't be using it outside of combos, item gimmicks, and tech traps. Sometimes you can sneak it in against characters that can't DP when broken, but the very highest level talent will just jump over it and you've wasted 2 meter.
-
I feel like I'm plateauing as a player. I could use some suggestions. Here's some weaknesses I know of: 1) I am weirdly unaware of the amount of meter I have. 2) I'm too slow to adapt to using 2B to beat jump ins. Terrified of whiffing I could use some other tips from people that play me.

brkrDave, I briefly saw some nifty setup to quickly pull an enemy out of the corner and cross them. It was something like jump, airturn, backdash, j.b, j.D to pull them out of the corner and put you in the corner, allowing for a crossup j.A or j.B. I haven't been able to effectively execute this. Do you have any knowledge or tips on how to execute this?

We should plan some events for the BBCP release.

In addition to having an uppercut, there's supposedly a new awakening super where he throws out 5 items at once. Opponent's reaction
