Montreal: Le Thread Generale Pour Weeaboo Fighters
RurouniLoneWolf replied to BladeOfJustice7's topic in International
Guess we're going to be playing lots of baseball at Foonzo starting this summer. Better start preparing yourself now for shitty baseball commentary and terribly jokes about the Montreal Expos, lol. fri...ends? What is this "friends" you speak of? I am not familiar with this concept :P My nervousness is definitely going away though, slowly but surely. I'll keep doing my best to play more ^,^ Sowwy. It all just came together on its own ;.; We'll play for sure though the next time we're at Foonzo at the same time. -

Last night was godlike. Played a ton of SG, some Persona and managed to sneak in a few games of BB at the end of the night. If I had played GG, I would've gotten full coverage. Reyn, you missed it. Dom, VinceX and I played the beta version of SG on VinceX's laptop for hours. There were even some matches with unfinished Big Bando! Thanks again for all the matches VinceX and Dom. I was glad to get so much early practice with Squigly. The list of things I need to work on with Parasoul when SG Encore hits consoles has grown even more too. Those were some pretty fun matches in Persona as well Dom. I love how I can play 100 matches with Labrys online and not go for more optimal combos because I'm too panicky but the first match I play offline I go straight for optimal stuff, lol. Lets play again next time. Need to level up my Labrys significantly before P4U2 drops. No comment on BB but I'm pretty sure everyone can pretty much tell what I'm thinking really loudly about my Rachel at this point ^,^ Also, believe harder and don't stop being a genious in BB Dom! -
I see. No worries. It is a fair assumption and I mostly wanted the source because I was secretly hoping to dig up more juicy console release details :P The fact that Play-Asia has it listed for July is also interesting. It's probably a placeholder date but guess we'll see. Also, thanks for that reminder that there was only a 2 week difference. I remember being very pleased with that and pretty much all the effort Atlus USA put into the launch with the tutorials, getting it on streams, sponsoring launch tournies, etc. I hope they do the same for P4U2.

Source? I've only heard of a summer release. It would be interesting if this turned out to be true since I was hoping for a May or June release. Also, don't really see why it wouldn't release in August here in NA if it does release in Japan in July. After all, Atlus USA will probably be doing the localization themselves and not ASW USA.

you fool! You should be able to press buttons even in your sleep! ;.; This is just my opinion but when the DJ booth and the PS3s are that far apart, I wouldn't worry too much about the stream not being setup if you feel it's too much of a hassle. Might be better to just set up the LGP to record locally and upload the videos to the youtube channel later. Or maybe even setup the stream for weeklies and monthlies on a laptop locally if we happen to have one that day. Again, just my opinion -

The B you are thinking of is 5B.

S-Hold System = The system where you hold the A button and depending on how long you hold it, a move will come out with special properties. Not sure I'd call point 4 an insanely good buff but I'd say it was needed because their meter gain compared to regular characters was underwhelming in the overall picture in my opinion. Also, glad to see more training mode options have been added. Now to hope Purepure or another Labrys player blesses us with Red Axe FC ToD combo vids! It would be more productive to ask this in the story thread

[P4AU] Chie Satonaka Gameplay Discussion
RurouniLoneWolf replied to Colpevole's topic in Chie Satonaka
DP combos? Haven't seen those yet. I'll have to dig them up later. I'm definitely excited for P4U2 Chie. This is pretty much the Chie I wanted in P4A. Really like her pressure now. Oh and if you guys haven't watched the Hae-Chan vs Shikk (Narukami) footage in the new Stream Archives thread, you should give them a watch. dat pressure.I wonder if SB Lunge is + on block on it's own? Hae-Chan used it at the end of his blockstrings twice and then went straight into more pressure. Probably going to have to wait for frame data to find out. Saw Shikk block the first wave of D meteors and then jump out of the rest twice when he was at full screen ;.; Makes sense though due to the addition of SB Meteors to her game. Based on what I've seen and know, the optimal ranges for each meteor is probably C Meteor = closest 1/3rd of the screen, D Meteor = the middle 1/3rd of the screen and SB Meteor = the furthest 1/3rd of the screen. Need more footage to confirm that though. -
Don't worry. They're different. The one you linked is just one combo that demonstrates a 2C FC combo that uses an OMB + 100 meter. The one that was uploaded before was an OMB CMV.

Have you considered learning to use those advanced things by pressing the combination of buttons instead? Like press A and B at the same time for barrier, B and C at the same time for grabs, etc. It's pretty easy to do on stick compared to pad and it might be easier on you to learn stick if you never have to take your fingers off the 4 buttons. As for dashes and movement, if you are having trouble, you can always get used to it on stick the old fashioned way: Drill practice. Go into training mode and try to repeatedly do things until it feels natural to you. Quarter circles, half circles, super jumps, etc. Personally, movement in general came natural to me. It's only really dashing that I struggled with but I sucked at dashing on pad and sucked at dashing when I first started learning stick. After playing a lot and a ton of drill practice, I'm a lot more comfortable with dashes now though.

Under Night In-Birth, PS3 release confirmed (Jul 24, 2014)
RurouniLoneWolf replied to Hecatom's topic in Under Night In Birth
Oh, cool, thanks a bunch. I want to try and keep an eye out for this Yuzu. Fireball wars, you say? Sounds pretty cool. I'm actually quite interested to see this gameplay of people playing more safe, mostly because I don't think I've ever seen people play like that in this game yet. Can't wait to watch the footage when I get home. -
[P4AU] Chie Satonaka Gameplay Discussion
RurouniLoneWolf replied to Colpevole's topic in Chie Satonaka
Stronger? Hmmm, not sure I'd say she's stronger but rather, now that her old oki has been weakened, a lot of her other pros that got outshined by the oki before are now taking center stage in her game plan. I was originally worried about midscreen mixup but recent Chie footage seems to be positive. A combination of 5A stagger pressure, hop cancel jCs, dash cancels and even some regular jump jCs when least expected are making her midscreen mixup seem promising. Comparing jB and jBBs hitboxes, j2B might have some good uses in neutral because the hitbox is much wider vertically than jB's hitbox. It pretty much covers the entire space directly in front of her. There might also be some combo implications if j2B has different properties on hit than jBB. -

Wow, looks like I've got a lot of good footage to watch when I get home tonight. Need to check out that footage of the #4 Yuzu for sure. Do you by any chance happen to know his name? -

First button presses of the year were great last night. Definitely need to get my Rachel to a level where I'm at least somewhat happy with her soon. Being silently pissed off with my performance whether I win or lose really messes with my ability to properly socialize ;.; Spectating those DerQ, Level5 and Rhannmah was pretty hype though. Also, shoutouts to freezing cold sticks! XD For all those who weren't at Foonzo last night, Happy new year! Let's push even more buttons than we did last year (Especially me) ^,^ Guys, there's a random weirdo coming to town. What do we do? -
You misunderstood my post a bit, which is my mistake for not completely clarifying. I was speculating on whether Persona Sho really did need to be worried about his persona cards and was talking about needing Tsukiyomi in neutral, where the risk of losing a persona card is the highest. During combos, there is no risk of Tsukiyomi getting hit so I did not take it into consideration. Predicatable teleports do indeed seem to lose to 2Bs. Though this requires some commitment on the opponent's part to stay put and react to the teleport. If Persona Sho players pick up on this, they can take advantage of this and take this time to throw the slow version of their projectile instead, which he can use like a sonic boom to cover his approach as seen in the footage. Plus, his normals aren't exactly awful. He's probably not going to have any problems just playing regular footsies with people. But guess we'll see. As for not seeing the SP drain version of the command grab, not sure why we didn't see it. Maybe it has longer startup or the reward isn't as good as the health?

If you're ever confused about what move a combo is referring to, you can always check Noel's Wiki, which lists the moves with pictures and the same notation. But yeah, Noel forum is probably the best place to ask

[P4AU] Chie Satonaka Gameplay Discussion
RurouniLoneWolf replied to Colpevole's topic in Chie Satonaka
I've actually haven't seen that yet. Could you point me to a video where you saw this happening? -
Too early for a verdict. Come back in a month or two. That said though, I'm pretty sure you are overexaggerating how bad Labrys is. I'm not completely well versed in high level play but from my understanding, there are only like 3 matchups in the game as bad as you are describing. In Labrys case, the only matchup that's really that bad is Chie from what I understand. The rest of her difficult matchups are difficult but still doable.
-
Hmmm, a good point. Right now, it doesn't seem like he needs Tsukiyomi too much. His projectile and teleports are both pretty good for neutral but that move with Tsukiyomi I spoke of earlier is pretty nice for neutral too because it launches the opponent up into the air and looks like it can be comboed from with a teleport. Guess we'll see.
-
I'm pretty curious about the frame data of the roll. Right now, my biggest concern for the roll in general use is that it might be slow enough that people can whiff a normal during the invincible frames but recover quick enough to catch the tail end of the animation with a 5A or 2A. It would still be useful for some situations though.
-
Plain Sho has his charm and merits but yeah, right now, Persona Sho's toolset looks better overall. But it's still early. We'll see how the cookie crumbles in the end.
