Makoto's netplay drive timings don't bother me that much unless the lag is severe, but I have seen soooo many Noels drop the Dash cancel > 6C > other stuff due to lag, then I just 5B them in the face when they are helpless. I always feel dirty when that happens. Also: Even some monitors have input delay. You should just try to play on the best thing you have available. Real ballers get CRT tvs though, for NO input delay at all.

Please dude, I don't know how much delay you're playing with, but you should really play on your monitor if you have one. I noticed something was different the instant I stopped playing on my laggy plasma TV. You'll be able to react to a lot more things in neutral and on defense than you previously could. Also, a few frames of lag can make it literally impossible to beat certain players ("Can't react in time to anti-air or block overheads huh?...OH WELL"). Lol corpse beating with Rachel: "I do believe I have achieved victory you insolent buffoon. How a degenerate such as yourself ever hoped to win against someone of my status is unthinkable. As punishment for your...tomfoolery...I shall subject you to being pelted by a single Tiny Lobelia. Or perhaps maybe a tiny jolt of lightning will cause you to rethink your actions next time." I can't believe more Tagers don't 6C > AC after winning. That always looks so painful to me.

Yeah, this. It's always been around I was just speculating. I love when you try to attack on someone's wakeup, but they do a reversal distortion. And then you mash barrier in a panic and it somehow works. They think you did it on purpose lol.

Don't misunderstand guys. I didn't say I hated corpse beating. It just seems tasteless to do it against a dine 'n' dasher who just popped the game in for the first time and obviously has no idea what he's doing or how to combo.

Another one: People who refuse to play against you because you can beat them - Sometimes they are the only person online or are hosting the only room you can join. I'd rather play against them than sit in a training room waiting for god knows how long (but nope just get kicked upon entry...>.> TheMcTager + zKnightArtorias).

You guys just reminded me of another side of corpse beating. Sometimes good players won't corpse beat at all when they are smashing you. However, when you start to figure them out, adapt and get close to beating them they corpse beat like crazy (Ragna: 2D > RC > 2D > RC > 2D). I always thought that this happened because your opponent got scared at how close you were getting. Like it makes them not feel as good as they thought they were, and the corpse beating is like them saying, "HOW DARE YOU (2D) ALMOST (2D) BEAT ME (2D)!!! You're supposed to suck!!!" Although I suppose it could be like Mac and Nemesis said - they are just excited for winning a close match.

Another thing I hate is when people beat you one time and then instantly switch to their sub, as if to say: There's no way you'll ever beat my main, so there's no point in me using him at all. And even if you start beating their sub sometimes they won't switch back because they want to get revenge with their sub, argh. I've been double perfected by people and then ended up beating them the next match (against their main). At least give me a chance for redemption.

Yeah I understand just continuing your combos because of muscle memory, I thought errbody did that. I do remember one guy got mad at me because I did 5CC > Particle Flare to kill when I could have done 5CC > air combo instead. Whenever I go straight into PF to kill it's because I don't want to risk dropping the air combo in high proration + lag. I've lost too many close ones that way.

I don't see the point of corpse beating someone. By winning you've already proven (proved?) to them that you are better; why do you need to make them feel terrible about losing? Normally I'm farily meh about the whole corpse beating thing though, as in I don't get mad when it happens to me. This only becomes a pet peeve when really skilled or experienced players do it to fuck with/show their dominance over people who are new to the game. That's just evil. Your opponent hasn't had the time to accumulate the knowledge or skills to compete with you yet. That would be like a grown man beating an 8 year old in basketball and then rubbing the kid's face in it. And don't get me started on the people who suck and still do this to newbies. It is likely that the ONLY reason they can beat their opponent is because of inexperience. How about when you bait a green burst and it turns into a gold burst because they did it late?

Don't the counters work based on the attibute of the opponent's move (Head, Body, Foot, Projectile) and not whether it can be guarded high or low? If 2D now only catches lows would it work on moves like Ragna's 5B which is Head and Body attribute, but can also be guarded low? -

Just to make sure I read this right. Wait, do you mean that he has no frame 1 counters outside of Yukikaze. What about 2D? Did they nerf that too? -
The input for barrier is 4A+B. Since it is impossible to always hit these two buttons at the exact same time, the game gives you a small window of time where you can press A(then)B or B(then)A and still get a barrier guard. So if you input 4(A)~B, the 5A jab will enter its first startup frames before being "cancelled" into barrier guard. (A) means to hold A and ~ means there is a very slight delay inbetween you hitting the two buttons. If you do it right you can hear the sound that the jab would make while you barrier guard.

It is also very likely that Hakumen has damaged you by the time he has enough health to get his juicy OD combos. In many of the CP matches I've seen, getting caught in one of them is a death sentence. There was one match where Goro was working on a perfect, but he dropped the finishing blow. The Haku then did an OD combo that left Goro with a sliver of health, even though Goro still won the round. Apparently the only legit strategy is to make sure you have enough health so that an OD combo won't kill you. Unless you use Carl or Taokaka. -

What I don't get about CP and the OD mechanic is how they treated characters who already had a mode change. Some characters had their powerup mode become their OD (Ragna, Bang, Taokaka), while other characters just got a new powerup mode to go along with their previous one (Hakumen and Tsubaki). Now I can understand Tsubaki's case. She didn't have much going for her, so giving her OD+Mugen to work with is a much needed boost. I feel like Bang got especially ripped off by this because FRKZ used to last forever once you activated it and he gets robbed of a potential OD that could have helped him in other ways. Also why didn't they just make Hakumen's Mugen into his OD and place magatama restrictions or start rapid meter loss after you've used so many? I just don't understand their choices as to which characters they decided to give brand new ODs and which ones they didn't. My pardons if this is a beaten topic. -

I'm not sure if you mean technology, techniques, or whatever by this, but new discoveries can greatly jump characters up in terms of effectiveness, especially if something broken is discovered. If I'm not mistaken, didn't this happen with Carl in CT? -
The 2141236 and 2363214 motions always give me troubles. I'm glad I don't play Bang. I would always drop the shoulder charge move. Although I have no problems with the motion on Playstation #CPkneegrow

Yeah, conversational tangents happen, and they slowly spiral out of control. It's not like anyone boots up their computer while thinking, "I'm gonna derail this thread into stupid shit mwahahaha." Also the forum itself is not a hivemind, so it's hard for everyone to know the exact point that a thread becomes off-topic and unacceptable. Each person views their individual posts as harmless, especially when it's related to the previous post. I don't really know the history of this forum, but why is there no dedicated BB general thread for off topic/whatever kind of discussion? You could still keep the CP News and Gameplay thread for hard discussion about the game, and if people want to discuss random stuff or what they think/feel about the game they could do it in the general one. -
Do ranked matches count more towards leveling up than player matches? I know dark zero r plays like 99% ranked, and his level has shot up quickly since I first encountered him. I play only player matches mostly and my level growth rate is like turtle speed. I even win a lot when I'm not fighting one of you Jesus clones.

Ah that does make sense. I see the icon for lightning bolt and flame gun, but where is the ice icon?
