  1. With so many options for fighting games these days competing for my time and money, yes, they do.
  2. These have been on the Steam listings along with XIII for a really long time. I almost assumed they had been canceled. Awesome that we're getting Nerfed Krauser Edition Final Edition at last. A patch for the 360 version to go alongside it would be nice, but that's too much to ask for. I hope this significantly expands the online player base of both games; they're wastelands on 360.
  3. Anyone else a little bit pissed at GG getting infected with BB's Murakumo virus, now that we have both Ram and Elphelt?
  4. I bought UNIB; I am not getting this. There's been nothing to sway my opinion that it's a soulless cash grab with degenerate mechanics that FB rushed out the door as a contractual obligation. Aquapazza was also made on contract, but it at least seemed like Examu really cared about the licenses and put a ton of thought and effort into making each character interesting and unique. Not feeling any of that here.
  5. If Aksys gives this a limited edition in the US, and you know they're not going to miss the opportunity, I hope it's not PS4-only.
  6. You can "look forward" to extra colors and/or costumes being sold as DLC.
  7. I disagree with this because XII plays very differently from XIII. The bigger sprites, blowback parries, simple DM meter, weightier physics, and Critical Counter make the game quite distinct from its successor. A better way to put it is that XIII is a considerably improved sequel. And dream match = non-canon. Especially since Mature hadn't returned to KOF's canon at the time. I consider the Tekken Tag games to be dream matches.
  8. We really don't need any more dream matches right now (people forget that XII was one), and XIII already brought Mature and Vice back to canon anyway long after they were supposed to have died for good. Now that Sacred Treasures has ended, KOF needs a new saga, preferably not associated with Orochi or NESTS as these have been thoroughly concluded. Casuals coming from SFIV who finally take interest in KOF XIV because it has 3D graphics are gonna need some semblance of a story to stay interested.
  9. Regulation A2 was a planned update to Reg A that got canceled. It was going to have a standalone PS2 release. From that preview of the Kyo render it's 99.9% certain that the next KOF is going to have full 3D graphics, but after the wide success of SFIV and Marvel 3, it's also very likely that it's going to be 2.5D and play much more like previous main series KOFs than the Maximum Impact spinoffs.
  10. Because it's easy to pick up, the cast has wide recognition and strong nostalgic appeal, it's in cinematic 3D, it's supported by every fighting game tourney scene in the West, and everyone else is playing it. It's no more than a 3/5 star game at best though.
  11. After TWO canceled MI games in a row, I really doubt they're going to seriously revisit the brand at this point.
  12. In addition to the Japanese one you linked, there is also a Thai MOBA featuring officially licensed KOF characters.
  13. I knew from the time of the earlier teaser announcement that this was going to have to be casual as shit if it was getting slapped with the Pokemon branding, since it means they have to sell it to little kids and people with no fighting game experience. Might be a fun diversion to screw around with in between Smash 4 sessions, but I'm not expecting to see it at EVO. Despite what they said, it really looks like this is running on the Tag 2 engine. That game's already on the Wii U, so it would make for an easy porting job. I'm actually surprised they're going with an arcade release. What are the chances it ends up in those miniature, kid-sized cabinets used for Data Cardass games and the like?
  14. There were plans for a Maximum Impact 3 on PS3/360 that fell through, which came after Regulation A2 was already canceled. I wonder how much of that project is going to carry over. This new KOF might not have any connection to MI and they could just be renewing their trademark in the wake of the High Score Girl legal fiasco, though. Also, SNKP decided to celebrate KOF's 20th anniversary by...temporarily dropping all their smartphone games to $1.00 a piece. Whoop-dee-doo.
  15. You know, while I generally agree with this statement, Project M makes a very strong case for its existence. Modding is certainly fine in special instances (i.e. Doom) where the developers decide to make the source code openly available for people to tinker with, though. I really wouldn't want to see Xrd defiled with stupid mods on PC. I think the reason why MvC3 never made it off the consoles is because Marvel was worried about mods getting out of hand. But the biggest reason I don't want to see Xrd on PC is because it would be too big of an investment for ArcSys with too little payoff, even with the easy portability of UE3. The vocal nature of people begging online for PC ports of every new fighting game doesn't mean that they would actually buy these releases in significant enough numbers to recoup development and publishing costs.
  16. I don't have the energy to address everything written since my last post, but 98UM Vanilla shouldn't be on the top of anyone's list because Krauser is ridiculously cheap, and was used in practically every JP tourney team. He's like Sagat on steroids, and that's a character already notorious for cheese. They suitably nerfed Krauser for Final Edition, but there's no way to play that without a NESiCA cabinet in Japan. Sure, XI has its prominent S Tier in Gato/Kula/Oswald, but none of them are so broken as to be a massive uphill battle for the entire rest of the cast. This is a pretty good assessment of XI's strengths and how it compares to its predecessors. Also, the option to select either the Advanced or Extra meter was introduced in 97, but I guess everyone acts like 98 had it first because it's the most popular KOF. For the record, my personal Top 5 goes like this: XI > 02UM > 98 > XIII > 95.
  17. The chances are about 9 out of 10 that it's an even more barebones port than UNIEL.
  18. What the hell are you even talking about? MI doesn't play ANYTHING like Tekken. The movesets and physics are MUCH more in line with what we've come to expect from 2D fighters (I'm pretty sure Tekken doesn't have a parry button either). A more apt comparison would be Fate Unlimited/Codes, which actually does have some non-superficial similarities to MI. And XII = AoF wha? By the same card, it could easily be said that XI "doesn't play like a KOF game" with its tag battles and smoother, SF-style inputs. Didn't stop it from being one of the best (if not THE best) entries in the series. What's wrong with a franchise taking major departures from the norm if it works?
  19. Honestly, MI is BARELY 3D to begin with. Sidestepping is slow, rigid (no braking the step and jerking around like in Tekken), and rarely used. It's only really good for dodging projectiles at long range. Jumping is also handled very much like in the 2D games.
  20. They're not fully compatible, you can't use the home button.
  21. If they ever make a Gundam Vs. Macross, that's a pretty good idea of how the Valkyries might control (minus Gerwalk).
  22. It would almost certainly be sold separately, but I hope they make Xrd-branded sticks. Preferably a single model with a PS3/PS4 compatibility switch.
  23. Regulation A was damn good, and MI2 was a great fanservice bonanza (all those cameos as alt costumes!) even if it was very unbalanced. The MI series gets unfairly hated on because it arrived at a time when there was still bad blood between 2D and 3D fighting game fans, and because it introduced some rather lame character designs that no one cared about. Street Fighter EX suffered a similar fate, except Arika's characters were really good.
  24. Just know that you wouldn't have many of the changes made to normal characters in AC+R if not for the experimentation that EX characters allowed. Anyway, I don't think that Xrd will see EX characters, because it would be way too much of a hassle to animate new moves in 3D for them.
  25. They must be planning on releasing another standalone version for consoles, maybe on PS4. Didn't ArcSys mention some PS4 project that wasn't Xrd? At this point, I can't possibly see them giving any sort of update to the version we already have.
