  1. Are the weeklies at Balance Patch still happening? I crave offline matches. Rather, if there aren't any meetups in Mass these days, anyone wanna start one? Edit: Balance Patch weeklies ARE still happening, on Fridays as of the writing of this post.
  2. So, neutral question vs. Hakumen: Is there a good replacement for my 5B? Very annoying how both Hakumen's 5B and 6B move the bottom of his hitbox so far back, making 5B whiff often. Should I just use 5A and eat the damage scaling? 6B and accept I'm using a slower move? I wish that, for this matchup, I had "5B, but hits mid and has a hitbox to match".
  3. There isn't a way to use Kagura's flash kick as a reversal from a neutral tech, is there? Unrelated, if I want an overhead, should I just use 6A and RC? Or is there a better grounded overhead to lead to a combo?
  4. So wait... What's distinctive about Kagura if he is changed to yet another generic low-damage character? I, for one, like high damage, and will pay the price of crappy neutral. Isn't that a cool identity for Kagura? I mean sure, redesigns are common; Team Blue doesn't seem to know what they want many characters to really be like. But still, what gives? Ok sure, he has big normals. So he's... A bootleg Ragna or something? What is Kagura supposed to be? I would love to get inside the minds of the leaders of Team Blue and find that out, if they even know what they want on that score. I mean, that's the central question here, right? And does BlazBlue currently have another "very high damage, but crappy neutral" character? It's a cool archetype! I want to see it represented! Really, the question I would pose is this: What's wrong with CPEX Kagura? He's neither too good nor too bad. He has a distinctive archetype. Does he have some really terrible gameplay somewhere? Some really distorted matchups? I mean honestly, does Team Blue just like changing things for the sake of changing things?
  5. So what makes Sin prefer being at fullscreen? I've played this matchup recently as Sin against a very strong Axl, and at fullscreen he'll activate Sparrowhawk Stance, then I'm sad.
  6. Do you guys know which patch changed Beak Driver's first hit to knock the opponent far away? When I was on some previous version, I could do for example vs. Sol: c.S 2S 236K 236H(1) 236K 236H and it would all combo properly midscreen; now the first hit of 236H sends the opponent flying and the second 236K will either whiff or hit OTG. Cuts ~40 damage off of that midscreen combo; very annoying. I just want to know when it changed, and if possible, to see patch notes for that version.
  7. I got a midscreen throw combo: Throw RC 66 c.S 5H 6H j.S j.P j.S dj.S j.6H j.214S j.236H (optional j.632146H) Tested on Sol, 156 damage or so without the R.T.L; 192 with. You will get lower damage if you do the c.S too soon; you have to wait until the RC slow has worn off sufficiently to get full damage. It's not very hard, though; you just want to wait until the enemy's body is about at the height of Sin's. Seems to work on other characters, though I haven't done extensive testing.
  8. Ok so, I don't know if anyone can answer this engine wonk question, but: Do any of you know if the life steal from DIO's 421C is scaled, along with damage? I'm trying to determine if my 5A, 5B, 5C, 214A RC, j.B, 5C. 421C combo is any good. It deals about sixty less than the usual 5A, 5B, 5C, 214A, 236B+C, and I know the base damage/lifesteal of 421C is around 60 when mashed. So it seems like a fine combo, unless the life steal gets scaled a lot, in which case my net health advantage from it could be a chunk smaller than the super combo. But still better when I have grey health, probably?
  9. So I've heard that Holy Orders plays "when Ky lets his hair down". I had assumed he just had his hair down during IKs, because that's what I'd seen. But that's not it, is it? What's the condition for his ponytail coming undone? Can he still have his hair up when involved in IKs?
  10. I disagree. Feels very GG to me because it's almost all guitar. BlazBlue was all over the place with tons of keyboards and synths, and even the guitar tones weren't as metal. Some of my friends like this, and say they prefer the BB soundtrack because the GG soundtrack only has one style (though I'd disagree on that point but it's certainly more monolithic than BlazBlue), but Xrd is all metal again. However, if you'd said that the production on Xrd's tracks sounds more modern and thus more like BlazBlue, I'd agree. I really like the old-school production on GGXX's tracks, and more modern guitar tones and mixing styles aren't really my thing, but GGXrd feels way more crunchy and rumbly than BB's high-pitched sqeals. Anyway the OST is amazing. For the upload I'm listening to I have little idea what a lot of the tracks are but it's so good. Also why is Holy Orders on there? Weird. And why do some say that the OST hints at Sin being playable down the line? I never played GG2 and don't know its soundtrack. (Also Sin showing up in Sol's cutscenes should give us more than enough clue.) Oh, and what is Ride the Fire for? Lastly, we should petition ArcSys to sell the OST to us Westerners. I wanted to pay them money for it. I don't care if they try to remove all the uploads so long as they'll sell me the damn thing.
  11. Regarding Dizzy, she didn't really show up in GG2, did she? Isn't she in stasis or something? As for other characters... To go back a few pages, I can guarantee you that they aren't putting in characters to appease Western fans. ArcSys does not care much at all about the West. They make games for Japanese arcades. Any love we get is collateral. Which is fine because it's still more love than most devs give me. Yeah sure, ports take a while, localization takes a while, sometimes shit like the +R patch delays happens. But the amount of effort they put into their games is damn special. I just hope that Japanese arcade players demand Order-Sol, is all.

  15. Are you sure that wasn't a mistimed meaty? I didn't see a reversal message. But then it was FAB doing it and FAB probably would know whether it works.
  16. Take a look at the lower right image in the first clump on the top of the page, with Kokonoe. Is that... A 3D model for her?!
  17. Am I the only one disappointed at the apparent lack of "Heaven or Hell" in the arcade opening, with all those other "X or Y" phrases appearing?
  18. So basically, for low-cost projectile pressure you need a gap in the string. You need to do the RC after they leave blockstun from your previous move, but before the projectile hits. Seems like smart design. Remember that projectile-based pressure is resistant to Blitz Shields, since your opponent can only absorb your projectile, not put you into the blowback state. Also, depending on the pressure setup, the window might still be very tight. I myself would rather not have YRCs and would rather some moves just have a "Blue RC" tag that makes them always cost 25% to RC and RCable on whiff, but this does seem interesting. We'll see. At any rate, nicer than FRCs.
  19. Testament was in the Holy Order?! This I gotta see, in addition to business suit Venom! As for alt costumes in the game, I care not. The default costumes are great and we don't need more, especially if they look silly. And I don't want another Takuma/Mr. Karate situation with Order-Sol or whoever, where looking at the character doesn't tell you who it is.
  20. Anyone prepared to bet it will be out before Xrd hits arcades? I'm not. You would think it could have happened by now. Can't be a PlayStation issue, can't be a localization issue. Unless somehow US PSN disallows the same code that they allowed on JP PSN. (As speculated about the crashing)
  21. Well, I'm back to assuming Xrd will be out in arcades before US PSN gets the patch. And forget about Europe and Australia. Oh well. At least Order-Sol hasn't changed too much so if I get to play +R in person it shouldn't be too much adjustment. (And it's not like I knew matchups anyway having so few opponents, so that won't really get worse.)
  22. The board it's on doesn't really matter. Just because it's on a given board doesn't mean it needs and uses all that board's power. For example, Accent Core +R is on RingEdge 2. I'm pretty sure it's just that they put games on whatever reasonably modern boards. Further, if they were thinking about consoles they might not have tapped the depths of the arcade board to the fullest, or maybe they didn't need its full power in the first place. I could believe the PS3 version being inferior/inaccurate/graphically altered, but I don't think it's necessarily so. If the PS3's change is merely 720 from 1080, that would be fine. But since it seems that the game is 720 anyway, whatever. Who knows, maybe the PS4 version will have more pixels than the arcade version? Also, given how good ArcSys seems to be at developing for PS3 (no extra input lag on PS3 versions of their fighters, as opposed to Capcom whose games only work properly on 360, right?), I wouldn't be that surprised if the PS3 version were good. Maybe they knew what they were getting into from the start, and planned the game to work well on all three platforms. ArcSys seems pretty good about console ports, original Japanese AC aside.
  23. I really hope that the PS3 version is good. It would be a shame if it didn't run well or had glitches. But I think ASW knows what they're doing when it comes to the PS3, so who knows. Maybe the game just runs fine on PS3 anyway? It could be that they don't need the PS4's power to run the "real" version of the game, but they just want to capture the PS4 market, too. Basically, I really hope I don't have to get a new console in the name of getting a good version of GGXrd. That would totally kill my hype.
  24. Well, isn't "not clearly the best character in the game" bad, for an Eddie? I'm sure Eddie players must consider that F- tier and beneath them. (Well, I don't particularly mean to slander Eddie players. I'm sure they're perfectly nice people. Just not when they're doing unblockables.)
