Hey did you know that that conversation is already resolved? there is no point in flaming anyway. Please at least be constructive.

Yeah, I think I told him to learn a combo off of throw, anti air, and her bnb.

The changes don't appear to have made the game better, but there's just something about BB that's less engrossing than GG. I'd say it was the pace of the game, but I don't think that's it exactly. I think it's the way they designed the characters. It's like they designed them to be balanced. In GG, that didn't really happen. They got to ggxx and were like, man we should totally make a character based on Slayer. He should be like... a vampire... the LAST VAMPIRE. OH MAN. HE SHOULD DO SO MUCH DAMAGE. So there he was. Doing so much damage. They get to BB and that only seems to happen to arakune, nu and rachel. The rest of them... Man we could really use a grappler. Let's make potemkin. He can't be exactly like pot though... I know he should pull other characters towards him if they block certain attacks! Oh that sounds like it could be good. We'd better make him bad at that.

It's a game with bursts, momentum dashing, roman cancels, supers, force breaks (for jin at least), alpha counters and instant blocking. It even has a variant of the IK system in astral finishes. The most substantial difference is the damage scaling system and the barrier system, both of which they should have just left alone. I can't imagine what the problem could be in reusing the same underlying system with an entirely new cast. They also left out Frc's presumably because more casual players found them nearly impossible.

Guilty gear is better than BB, but it's alot less accessible. BB was designed in part to appeal to more casual gamers. Seriously though. Each iteration of Guilty Gear seemed like a completely new game to me. but to more casual players, it apparently was just the same game over and over with minor additions. GG is still my favorite game. BB let me down. It turned out to be much shallower than GG. I was hoping for a game on the same level, with more accessible mechanics. As far as I can tell, by the time they're done with BB it'll be a game that ends because of time every match, which is fine, but not my style.

This is a pretty cool forum. I have a friend who is just learning to play. He glanced at this guide and felt it was really complex. Do you think it's too complex for a newbie, or should anyone who wants to step up their game be able to use it?
-
Yeah, maybe they won't close this one because of the lulz and nostalgia. qq on the animated concept. I'm happy with the story just being in the game.
-
i just remembered that it applies to forward jumps too, which is really important for most characters and vital for chipp and order sol. also yay :D
-
But there is no animation. The mechanics of guilty gear allow you to retain momentum of your dash, so you're sliding during the fd animation. The retention of momentum is pretty important in gg. It lets you do things like this slide and get more horizontal VV's with sol and such. Since you use it for more than just throwing, I think you might actually confuse some players if you don't just explain it as part of this momentum system. q.q no one agrees with me. all sadface.

If you have the time and motivation to learn zappa, you should just learn eddie instead. It's easier, and better.
-
That's not what a kara throw is. If you could cancel order-sol's 6k with a throw command (which is impossible, because throws aren't mapped to a two button combination like they are in 3s and SFIV) in order to gain the forward movement of the 6k animation, then you'd be kara-throwing. What you are doing is sliding forward into throw range based off of your momentum.
-
Because it's not a kara throw. Kara-throwing is canceling an animation that moves you forward into a throw to effectively give yourself more range. These aren't in guilty gear. The FD throw thing is based off of the special mechanics of guilty gear.

You guys do realize that Aksys only localized the game to America and corrected some bugs? They are a distributor. The game was produced by Arcsys, a Japanese company. Asking Aksys to make a new updated version of GG does not make sense. Asking them to release the current version on the new systems is pretty cool though. They could make it a DL if it is small enough.

Bump for great justice.

Make zappa start the match with a summon. Give FB invuln against projectiles. Make summon randomly be safe. -

Nemo ate a lot of really stupid shit in that. Eating two unsummons? Out of nowhere? And that burst at the end was RETARDED.

The Te V Za matchup is bad because if zappa loses control of the match or doesn't ever get in control, then he will never get control of the match back from testament, short of massive errors on the TE players part, or sick mind games. The fact that zappa's plans mostly get reset when he gets hit and testament's massive screen control and general superiority just make it hard for zappa to get going, and hard for him to even slow testament. I don't know if the match up is exactly 8-2, but it is a really bad match up. Really, really bad.

Heads up: 8-2's are still rare.

Not picking zappa has nothing to do with how good zappa is. It's just presumed that you aren't going to want to learn to play 5 characters instead of just one or two (ABA). Eddie is still just one character, since getting the shadow is a pretty consistent event. Moral of the story: Don't play zappa. Play Slayer instead.

That is a really really old video. From back when the game was new. And besides, that's just showing one match. We'd need four more to get an accurate idea of the matchup and even that wouldn't really give solid information.
