ArcSys Voice Acting [This thread has rules now]
MaximusMurkimus replied to SoWL's topic in Zepp Museum
True, voice actors are on call for pretty much all projects, but there's a certain degree of networking in place regardless, especially in the case of Seitz, who served as VA director. Considering how revered most seiyuu are in Japan, it's a bit insulting that the English cast found out the same way that we did. -

I'm a little concerned at how many signatures will it take for Aksys/ASW to even care. We're at 2626 now, but would they want to see 5K? 10K? Higher? Patrick seems to be pleased at how far it has gotten though, so maybe it's not as much as I think. Also, a confession. The worst part if doesn't get dubbed is not hearing Izanami troll, get trolled, and troll people to death now that she has a bigger role. Also, I would forever wonder if Es could be able to not sound like a Murokumo unit. -

Fairly certain most VAs are on call, unless they have directing experience or some other studio role. Even then, it would probably be handled through Strangely Compelling/Cup of Tea VA studios rather than Akysys themselves. Patrick Seitz does have history with directing BB however, so you're probably right in how that made Aksys reconsider out of nowhere. They probably know it'll be handled properly if he takes charge as director (and he probably should, once the dub gets the green light) -

Yeah, I just made the list like that to add some scale to the entire thing. Nearly half of the current playable cast with English VAs have co-signed, and there's nothing saying that some of the ones who haven't so far aren't supportive of the idea, they just haven't officially say anything about it yet. Of course, one would wonder why WOULDN'T we think all the VAs are interested; we're basically asking for them to get their jobs back. -

Good stuff. I've updated the list with more VAs. Supporting VAs: ** Patrick Seitz (Ragna) ** David Vincent (Jin/Hakumen) ** Cristina Vee (Noel/Nu/Lambda/Mu) ** Mela Lee (Rachel) ** Julie Ann Taylor (Tsubaki/Izayoi/Kokonoe) ** Cindy Robinson (Makoto) ** Erin Fitzgerald (Bullet) ** D.C. Douglas (Azrael) ** Yuri Lowenthal (Amane) ** Amanda Celine Miller (Nine) ** Spike Spencer (Arakune) VAs who have yet to express support ** Philece Sampler (Taokaka) * Steve Kramer (Bang) * Michelle Ruff (Carl) *Lauren Landa (Litchi) ** Laura Bailey/**Alexis Tipton (Platinum) * Doug Erholtz (Hazama/Terumi) * Doug Stone (Valkenhayn) * Travis Willingham (Relius) * Grant George (Kagura) * Steve Staley (Hibiki) ** Stephanie Sheh (Mai) * Kate Higgins (Izanami) * Carrie Savage (Celica) * Jamison Price (Tager) ** is active on Twitter/other social media -

D.C. Douglas (Azrael) also cosigned! I wish Kate Higgins (Izanami) and Grant George (Kagura) were more active on Twitter so we could ask them, other than that we nearly got the entire main cast on deck! Laura Bailey might seem like an easy co-sign, but would she even be coming back to do Platinum? -

This is pure gold! Praise Loki. Dem Izanami sprites. Wouldn't mind if her Imperator outfit was DLC. PS: There's this hideous green tint to the sprites when I try to open them up outside of a PC, any way to get around this? -

Consolidate the petitions, guys. One will be enough with enough people. -

Twitter would be more public, I think that would be an effective plan. Maybe a Change.org petition or two? -

Considering I'll buying the game much cheaper and not new, I'll gladly bring the cost up to $60 total if it means the dub is in. Ideally they'll just do a Kickstarter, since money could be an issue here. It worked for Skullgirls and that's way more niche than BlazBlue. -

The best clapback was on the PlayStation reveal of the CF Limited Edition http://blog.us.playstation.com/2016/08/24/blazblue-central-fiction-limited-edition-announced-dlc-details The reporter basically asked whether they would have the game now or wait for a dub. Guess what everyone said? The actual news isn't nearly as troublesome as the random acts of reassurance that it was the right thing to do. -

The only other option at this point is to give all the companies benefit of the doubt, and judging by the adamant response towards their decision, that's not something I think is warranted in the initial reaction towards it. I know, business is business and nothing you or me say will change how this plays put. But there are also reasons behind this business decision, and simply going "Well hey man that's not fair you don't know everything" is a bit extreme when I'm simply rationalizing the reason for the lack of a dub based the evidence presented forward in its wake. Jumping to conclusions is only a thing when there's nothing reasonable linking one thing with another. That being said, I can understand how it could seen as disruptive and I'll stop it. -

Okay. I get it. I'll be careful from here on out. That being said, the reasons behind this aren't so obscure that you need to be a conspiracy theorist to reach a conclusion. -

This was purely a greed decision. They didn't want to risk any money loss from importers even though most people realize that they'll likely double dip. Plus it gives them less work to do and more money in their pocket from not hiring the VAs again. Plus, I noticed that LE poster said "Holiday 2016". Of course. They want to have it ready to compete with FFXV and every other freaking game that releases in November as part of the holiday rush. As if anyone's gonna be buying BlazBlue who wasn't going to already. This is gonna sell terribly and they'll have no one but themselves to blame for it. Maybe then ASW can step in and go "wtf guys" and push for a dub/Extend version next year. -

Save us, Tekken 7. When CF is dead in a few months I hope they'll understand why; Extend anticipation. And if they still refuse to dub Extend then well it's been real, let me know when it gets down to $15. We live in a time where there's more ways to play a game than just buying it new, time we start using them. -

It's a shitty situation because it's a lose/lose situation for the dub lovers no matter what happens. Game sells terrible: We made a good decision not dubbing that game after all, let's keep it up. Game sells good: Ha, told you those suckers would buy it anyway! An explanation would be twisting the knife further, since it really just boils down to "we want the game out ASAP to build up EVO HYPE and couldn't be arsed to do it" or "we didn't want to spend too much money and therefore couldn't be arsed to do it". Either way I don't want to hear it. Now if they want to crowdfund the dub, I'm all for it, but I don't see them being concerned once the game is already out. -

That would only work if the issue is really financial, and there's plenty of reason to believe that as well as the idea that they just didn't want to do it because they assumed we'd just buy it anyway. And Aksys hires the localization team (Strangely Compelling) that creates the dub as part of the localization process, so ASW's responsibility long ended by that point. -

Buy it used. Rent it. Wait for a sale. Anything that denies the publisher profit. This is Aksys' bed and they need to sleep in it. -

I know it sounds melodramatic, but I refuse to buy the game until we get some progress with the dubs. I'm not gonna sit through 40 hours of nonsensical Japanese because some derp in an office somewhere thought I was weeb enough to do it for full price. XBlaze was the exception since it probably wouldn't have gotten localized period, but I would be content with renting it in small bursts to secure the DLC and to practice. Persona 5 will probably hold me over anyway, if this really is meant to last a long time then I'm in no rush. -

Even if the dub is coming later, it's a shame because it means not going through the story until then, even if the ending is right in my hands. It would also mean avoiding spoilers for several months, we already got it bad with Persona 5. -

That's not a very reassuring answer. They basically confirmed that there's no plans for English voices at the time, but they might oblige us sometime in the future, likely on another game. And to think that they managed to localize CT and CS in less than a year. ASW needs to step in directly if we have any chance of a dub. -

Way I see it, if a niche series like Dynasty Warriors can get a dub solely due to fan demand, BlazBlue has a much better chance. They could even go the SFV route of battle lines first, story in the future. That could ensure a timely release and still guarantee a dub. -

Okay, let's assume ASW goes "OOOHHHH, we had no idea people liked the dub so much we swear " and decide to go to work on it. Would there even be time to finish things before the release? Even if they hold off on the story mode dub for the US release, they would have to record lines for all the playable characters (including the new ones. Could they belt it out before the October launch?
