  1. I wonder what the guy would think if he knew there were GG players overseas who'd mistaken him for Shounen...
  2. I take it we gave up on the EVO donation thing... is anyone still planning to, or is 30k too much? We're only 600$ behind fucking DOA, even if winning is impossible at this point I was hoping we could at least not be deprived of 5th place by countersandtits.iso :/
  3. Yet again, craziness from Satou in his latest casual set. One noteworthy aspect of said video however, was that the Eddie player (Asagami) used Weiss summon almost exclusively, it seemed... and to great effect as well. Did this guy play a lot of Reload or what? I found it interesting that he knew how to pressure with it very well (he timed the ]D[ > 5K unblockable perfectly multiple times, and even did a combo a couple times that finished with the Weiss ]D[ in order to get the knockdown) and did tricks like the ED gauge-refilling FB during ]K[ to extend the combo and continue pressure after knockdown while still in Weiss. Is vs. JO simply the matchup for it, or is does this player just have the sickest combos?
  4. I find it hard to believe that PSN is somehow better or anything, although one is more likely to get matches in on PSN simply because an overwhelming percentage of Dustloop's playerbase are PS3 owners. You'd think everyone would prefer 360, considering the frame delay matches that of the PS2 version where PS3 doesn't (strictly speaking in regards to offline play, of course) but I guess Xbox owners are the minority for some reason.
  5. I'm most likely heading down to my local venue today, so... if you're still up for some matches in like, an hour or two I'd be down. I'm one of those antiquated people who don't have a smartphone yet though, so I can't check DL once I leave the house. Thus, if you want to reach me you'll have to check your PM inbox :p
  6. Yet again, crazy matches. Oddly enough I felt like we didn't get to play as much this time, even though the count was 13 to 14 when I counted the youtube vids... weird. Edit: Btw, I've left a couple YT comments on specific matches, and for the sake of organization I feel that said discussion of specific matches/situations would be best left there. This post is simply a general statement, so that's why I'm saying it here instead. It's interesting reading your comments on each match, as it reminds me that I'm not the only one who makes execution mistakes due to lag (be it connection slips or simply the inherent frame delay) which is something I should probably keep in mind when assessing our respective levels of play. Still, I feel that while I probably make more decisions I deserve to eat combos for than I care to admit, overall I feel like when we play, I'm the one who gets in more hits/fails to block properly less often... at least, in regard to when I actually commit to holding 4 or 1, that is. Failed reversal attempts are their own category IMO, regardless of whether it's on wakeup or during pressure strings. Both are mistakes, I just consider them different kinds. Now, the question of who dropped/botched more inputs/combos due to lag... (be it connection slips or the inherent frame delay) is a whole different story. Obviously only the results of an offline set would actually confirm which of us would play better in that scenario, so instead of going into theory fighter mode on that front, I think it's safe to say that playing online GG is simply a different game. It's still fun to me either way though. One of these days I hope to play a set with you where we can trade win-loss ratios, or at least be closer to 50/50 than it has been so far... but in any case, I hope we can feel satisfied and say good game afterwards. I'm glad you don't seem to get salty over what happens, unlike some other people I played later that day...
  7. This DKJ guy (JO player with Orange Palette from the above video) is insane, officially my new favorite JO player. He dropped a lot of combos, but made incredible reads to escape his opponents' pressure, which led to the ridiculous comebacks he made in round 1 vs ED and round 2 vs AN. Unfortunately there's hardly any footage at all of him to be found that I know of. Nico search for his name turned up nothing, and there were only a couple matches of him from AC and 1 from Slash on Youtube. Is this guy just not active in the tourney scene, or what?
  8. I know my username doesn't match the GT, but (unless I'm mistaken) you own that account. The GT I was using however, belongs to someone who isn't me. The owner of that account also goes by that name in other places, and isn't my best friend or anything. He works at the venue I play at, and was reluctant to let me so much as buy the game on his account in the first place. Call me paranoid, but I'd rather not risk being confused for him in case he or someone he associates with uploads videos that use his name. I'm not asking you to crack open Windows Movie Maker and watermark my name over the GT in the video, just that you change the video titles and tags, that's all. I'm sorry if this sounds pushy... It's not my intent to make you waste your time and I know it's a lot to ask, but this is important to me.
  9. Yeah, it seems weird that we haven't seen Yaxl or anybody recently... Shoutouts to double reverse OCV by AGF in the latest Mikado tourney! That's some mad beasting right there.
  10. Yeah, sorry I didn't specify more clearly. If I get around to purchasing a new console and getting an online account, my username here (as it is my name everywhere else) will be my GT. And as I mentioned, the account I was using isn't mine. I'm probably the only one who'll ever play GG on it, but... *shrug*
  11. Hey! I was playing under Cheesemastr again (it's not my account, nor is it my preferred handle) but GGs none the less. I know we played a lot of matches, but if you could edit them to have my "true" online name, I'd appreciate it :p
  12. Just watched the sets again, and... my bad. Both times he got it, he did Carcass Raid into 6P and the beat counter went black between that and the 6P, not between it and dubious... (can you combo at all off an air hit HS Carcass Raid? if 6P didn't combo, it doesn't seem like it to me) Huh, I never got that impression from watching him play, I've always just thought of him as being on a lower level than Satou or even DC, and that the stuff he does is an embarrassment to the character... but that's life I guess.
  13. It hasn't been confirmed 100% that it was N-O, but it's certainly not that much of a stretch to me... good shit. So, is it just me or has Jonio been playing like ass in Mikado's events the whole time since +R's release? The other day, I saw him win his first match in what feels like forever... but his team still lost. The same thing happened again later in the event too. He actually won a match, only to lose the followup and get his team eliminated (Also, why the hell was Fino trying to do 6P ((air hit)) into Dubious Curve? It clearly doesn't combo, but I saw him go for it like 4 times) what is with this streak?
  14. Played some more matches today... I swear I have more experience with the JO mirror than any other matchup now GGs to all, sorry for not remembering anyone's GTs. Except for that one Sol player I managed to beat. If you're going to use Kusoru's palette, you damn well better have top-tier gimmicks to lulz it up with... and don't forget respect cancels either
  15. Played yet again as Cheezemastr the other day. GGs to the JO mirror I forget the Gamertag of Qwerty (research ftw! I'll admit I would have insta-disconnected if you'd picked another non-main character after the second, and I would've been salty about it for the rest of the day... but you didn't, so it's ok ^_^) LadyFascination as well, thanks for beating my ass with at least 5 different characters. There were a couple other people I played, one was a Pot I got a few matches in with and the other a Baiken I only got to play once (my sincerest apologies for the IK taunt! It was only the 4th match or so that I actually won out of the... I forget how many I'd played so far. Also sorry for not giving you the chance for a runback, I had previously agreed to get off the setup in order to play some KOF with a dude who'd been waiting on me >_>) If anyone wouldn't mind playing me again in the near future, I can now drop into my venue on any given afternoon and have guaranteed access to the game! If there's a particular date/time when I'd have a higher chance of less waiting between matches, that'd be sweet...
  16. This is relevant to my interests. I got the same impression from the casuals I played at NEC, although to be fair I wasn't used to the PS3 speed... it might merely be that, but it'd be nice to know in any case.
  17. Bump because why hasn't anyone commented here on how awesome this video is. Come on, guys.
  18. Hot damn, Satou. This latest casual set... I just don't even know. Holy shit.
  19. So... still need a room. I promise I won't bite! Just trying to stay safe here... I'll have plenty of funds the day of the event, but I can't book one now. Please? I need something, anything will do :/
  20. Except that Satou still won the set :p good stuff from both players, but I'm proud that Satou got the job done in the end.
  21. Yeah, I know I shouldn't... I just find it difficult to remain detached in that sense when I find myself playing against people who can execute their character perfectly in spite of the lag while I'm sitting there all like :/
  22. Played some more matches yesterday. Much salt was felt, and I apologize for the mid-game disconnect (I think my opponent at the time was a Dizzy) it wasn't a ragequit, I had to go play my match in the tourney I was participating in... I'll get you next time! I don't think I'll ever get used to playing online on an already laggy HD setup, I swear my inputs were like 8 frames behind what was happening onscreen (couldn't FRC worth a damn, let alone combo properly) I was salty about it at the time (hence the IK taunts as Eddie/Sol, my bad) but I'm over it now. Actually, last night was just a shitty day for me in general. I got bodied by the Xbox controller I used in both SF4 (sticky button) and KOF, and hardware malfunctions are pretty much the single most frustrating thing I've ever dealt with when playing FGs. That said, at least I'm taking a vacation of sorts for the next 3 weeks, so I have all the time in the world to cool off and mentally prepare myself in order to prevent further sodium intake in the future.
  23. 3 hours? Man, I knew we played for a while but I didn't keep track... the whole time I thought you were Hellsap (a zappa player I've met and played against in Portland) XD Playing you was my first time using Pot against a legitimate player, and pretty much the only thing I actually knew about the matchup was "5p/2p the dog. Waste meter if you have to, just stop the damn dog". It frustrated me that you could FRC ghosts and shit while I was playing at noob-tier due to input lag lol. No FRCs, could only ever get PB after that crazy slow j.D confirm... it was hell on my patience, but I figured it was more worthwhile than counterpicking myself with my main. GGs anyway, though I really shouldn't be screwing around with other chars so next time I'll just have to bite the bullet and play
  24. Idk who my opponents actually were, but I played a lot of matches yesterday against a zappa (I ran Potemkin because... I'm not sure why) and got totally bodied in a JO mirror. I was playing on someone else's account (my GT was CheeseMastr) but I had some fun matches, unfortunately it ended with my being disconnected against my will and forced to seek alternative entertainment. GGs to all, even though I kinda felt like the Zappa and I were exchanging some salt. Or maybe it was just me getting salty, idk.
  25. I'd say that depends on whether you want to have a better long-range game or consistently ruin your opponent's life when you get knockdowns. Venom's oki is pretty much the same as it is in AC, but Testament's isn't as rewarding IMO. So if you want better oki, go with Venom.
